Yet another crime drama heading to our screens. I'm watching heaps of shows like this at the moment. Anyone else planning to watch?

I won't be watching live but will try to get on catch up ASAP. Looks intriguing.

But River must have been to the Kebab place with her before, he seemed to know it and her usual order, or did I imagine it?

Undercover stuff is a good call. She would have had a fair amount of inside information based on her family, presumably.

AnonymousBird · 29/10/2015 08:20

He knew the order because they talked about it in an earlier episode I think?

I know this is crazy and doesn't make sense, but we aren't going to end up with River also in a coma/dead are we? Madness, and pretty sure it's wrong, but like he is stuck between life and the afterlife or something.....

I love it, great show. Love him and LOVE her. She has a real spark.

fuzzpig · 29/10/2015 09:52

He knew the order because of the receipt (one of the things he had pinned to the wall I think) and then the kebab place confirmed it anyway.

I will cry like a baby if River dies.

I don't think the 'you didn't think you were the only one' referred to anything romantic, more just the fact that they were good friends. She was River's only friend so he felt possessive I think.

I love Nicola Walker. I have a bit of a crush on her character TBH - so quirky.

Ooh I just realised I'll actually be able to watch 'live' next week as I'm staying at mum's and she watches it. I'll leave DH to his LOTR or football or whatever yawn :o

I loved the quote "if you're lonely when you're alone, you're in bad company". I am very much an introvert.

Anyone happen to know how long the series is please? Googling hasn't helped and I don't want to look on IMDB and such in case of spoilers.

Ah, thank you fuzzpig I thought he had been there with her before, but it was on the cctv I think.

sadwidow28 · 29/10/2015 13:01

Fuzzpig It is 6 episodes according to Wikipedia

EvansOvalPiesYumYum · 29/10/2015 15:31

Loving this too, took me 'til the middle of first episode to get into it, though!

I've had a thought, just wondering if the car is a bit of a red herring. In the first episode, when we realise that Stevie is a manifest, her character on the walkway of the flats has a huge hole in the back of her head where she was shot. (In real life, I expect the bullet would have gone right through and damaged her face too, but maybe this may have been too much for the viewer to endure every time she appeared, and too much work for the make-up artists).

Anyway - in the video clip, she turns and recognises the driver of the car, but she is shot in the back of the head. Could it have been the driver of the white van who did it?

quirkychick · 29/10/2015 16:37

Ah, Evans I thought she was shot from the front (as said upthread) as she was facing the car in the cctv footage and fell backwards, so the back was the exit wound. That's why they were looking for the car rather than the van.

Can't wait for the next episode!

EvansOvalPiesYumYum · 29/10/2015 16:56

Oh, okay. Thanks quirkychick. Thought I was onto something there!Halloween Grin

sadwidow28 · 29/10/2015 17:12

If you go back to page 4 of this thread, you will see that I was questioning the direction of the bullet and I uploaded some screen shots.

Do they help?

EvansOvalPiesYumYum · 29/10/2015 17:27

Sorry SadWidow - missed that!
I'll just go back to work now then

sadwidow28 · 29/10/2015 17:38

Evans I was simply asking if those screen shots helped with your thinking.

I think the direction of the white van is entirely possible (and I have ruled out the blue Mondeo - Stevie looked directly at the car and smiled).

IMO - The bullet came from the white van OR someone in the road that forms a T-junction.

It happened so fast (as Stevie was walking away from River) that nobody knew the direction of the gun-fire. It was assumed that it came from behind her as she set off walking and got tp the middle of the road (hence the blue Mondeo was in the frame).

It all happened so quickly, even River didn't realise that Stevie turned her head as she walked across the road until he saw the CCTV. So the gunshot DIDN'T come from the Blue Mondeo ('Riley's car') it came from elsewhere. Hence I did some screenshots so that we could keep up with the clues.

EvansOvalPiesYumYum · 29/10/2015 17:43

Ooh! So I might be right after all hops up and down excitedly

Thanks, Sad (Sorry, misinterpreted your post)

EvansOvalPiesYumYum · 29/10/2015 17:58

Just looked at your screenshots, Sad and the figure standing on the pavement looks like the Chief Inspector (Julian Lewis Jones character). He looks a bit shifty, could it be him?

sadwidow28 · 29/10/2015 18:04

Quirkychick

There was no exit wound - not through the face or anywhere - but she died instantaneously because the gunshot penetrated her skull and brain.

But everyone assumed that the shooter was in the blue Mondeo. It is either white van man (and we know nothing abut the white van yet) or someone standing on the T-junction.

sadwidow28 · 29/10/2015 18:07

Evans I think that McDonald is part of the 'Stevie murder'.

I just can't prove it yet!

EvansOvalPiesYumYum · 29/10/2015 18:44

Gah! Owen Teale, not Julian Lewis Jones. (I'd make a great detective) Ha!

fuzzpig · 29/10/2015 19:11

Ah thank you SW so halfway through already. I will be bereft in a few weeks then, when this and Unforgotten finish. What the Jeff will I watch then?

I'm not sure that they'd be wrong about where the shot came from, though. It'd be a pretty basic thing for forensics to work out the ballistics (or however you spell it) from the wound and how she fell, so I'd have thought we can take it as read that they'd have got that right?

Take nothing as 'read'. Stevie was shot in the back of the head so the driver of the blue Mondeo was the suspect (Riley, Bruno et al) but we now know that she turned her head in the middle of the road and smiled. So the shot DIDN'T come from the blue Mondeo.

(We now know that the original owner of the blue Mondeo is a black man - and Stevie has an intimate relationship with him. [Just touching as far as we know])

River has seen the CCTV (Ira found it) and the bullet did NOT come from the blue Mondeo. If Stevie was on an under-cover operation, NOBODY will want the truth to come out.

We still have no explanation for the change of CCTV log-in details. Does that mean that a copper is involved? Who else could change the CCTV time stamp?

quirkychick · 29/10/2015 22:11

Ah, I knew someone who knew more would say! What was she shot with if it made such a big hole? Very good point about being undercover and covering up. If undercover was she working with anyone else...

fuzzpig · 30/10/2015 00:19

Ah I hadn't thought about the undercover aspect.

Well, didn't Stevie TELL River something that night, but he can't remember the conversation yet? He has gone into total shock in the aftermath of losing his best friend.

Episode 2

Stevie: We worked. We had lunch, we worked some more, we went for Chinese. We talked about nothing? Really?
River: I don't remember.
Stevie: Loss of memory is a sign of mental decline.
River: I don't remember.

Now someone asked about the time stamps on the CCTV footage. It was all to do with Riley's alibi also Episode 2. Riley was shown on one lot of CCTV footage to be in the vicinity of the shooting. But Riley himself said that he was elsewhere. After he had died (jumping off a balcony running away from River) the CCTV footage from the area he said he was at was turned up ..... and YES.... Riley was there (2 miles away from the shooting).

Ira: He's not got that car any time before Stevie died.
River: So, who had it?
Ira: Then, I noticed some date discrepancies. Some login details that didn't look right.
October 21st, 21.03. [image 1]
October 21st, 21.03. [image 2]
He was two miles away... and he certainly wasn't driving that car.
When Stevie was shot...
River: Riley was on the other side of town.

So who doctored the time/date stamp on the CCTV to frame Riley?

sadwidow28 · 30/10/2015 14:38

Evans

I can only post 6 images a day on MN, so I don't re-post any that I have already done as sometimes I need more than 6 slots a day between this thread and "Unforgotten". Hence, I usually check which page of the thread I have left relevant images on and post to the inquirer to say where to look.

I really wasn't being intentionally rude or abrupt - and I am never bothered if anyone hasn't read all the thread. I am always delighted when fuzzpig gets new people joining in and discussing this fabulous programme which I really didn't like at first.

However, yesterday, someone on the "Unforgotten" thread (which is where I began doing the detective clues as I started that thread) suggested I set up an off-line image gallery so our thread detectives could reference back at leisure ........... so we are sorted over there now and I can use my 6 MN images per day for this thread.

It's a good job I did that really as yesterday I needed to share 34 screenshots for "Unforgotten". Grin

Now, I am going to a family christening over the weekend so I am going off-line from tomorrow (No wifi). I won't be around for Tuesday's episode but I will be watching as I am taking a TV with me. I'll catch up with the thread when I get back Thursday.........

fuzzpig · 30/10/2015 15:06

6 days with no wifi...

Your hard work and screen shots are much appreciated SW!

I haven't caught up with Unforgotten yet.
