ITV’s six episode thriller series Unforgotten from former ITV drama executives Laura Mackie and Sally Haynes’ fledgling indie Mainstreet Pictures will premiere on Thursday October 8th at 9pm, it has been announced.

Penned by Undeniable scribe Chris Lang, Unforgotten tells the story of an 39 year old cold investigation into the murder of a boy who was killed in 1976. The modern day investigation is run by DCI Cassie Stuart and DI Sunil ‘Sunny’ Khan, who must re-examine the evidence and investigate the key suspects – Robert Greaves, Frank Philip Cross, Lizzie Wilton and Eric Slater – in order to close the case. The series utilises a multi-stranded narrative, set in different parts of the country, which explores and connects each of the principle characters.

The six-parter is produced by Mainstreet Pictures and features a large cast that includes Sanjeev Bhaskar (The Kumars), Nicola Walker (Last Tango In Halifax), Trevor Eve (Waking The Dead), Bernard Hill (The Grid), Ruth Sheen (Our Girl), Tom Courtenay (The Dresser), Gemma Jones (Marvellous), Brian Bovell (Death in Paradise), Cherie Lunghi (Casualty), Hannah Gordon (Hustle), Claire Goose (Mount Pleasant) Tamzin Malleson (Midsomer Murders), Peter Egan (Downton Abbey), and Frances Tomelty (Catastrophe). Ripper Street helmer Andy Wilson was the director.

Genetics can throw out anomalies. My foo are all Mediterranean colouring but I'm fair and redheaded going back to one great grandmother.

quirkychick · 12/11/2015 21:48

Yes, why is everyone so scared and all lying about knowing Jimmy too? Will Sir Phillip reveal something?

Floundering · 12/11/2015 21:53

It would just be too easy for it all to be only Eric & Claire involved in the murders.

I reckon Lizzy will have some of the final clues, even if it shows herself in a bad light.

Also Thea, where does she fit in or is it just that she was his other life that effectively ruined his marriage?

Has Sir Philip confessed to the Fenwick murder just to get him off for the others?

Sansoora · 12/11/2015 21:55

I have a rainbow family Bacon but never applied how mother nature can work when it comes to Thea. Blush

I have one granddaughter who is half afro/arab and half scottish. She has blue eyes. We thought they were from my side till the paed said no, this is the fathers side. His family are more African than Arab like my husband and it turns out his great granny was a blonde Belgian woman with Blue eyes.

Oh and even my children who are half Arab all have a red tint to their hair even though Im a natural very light coloured blonde - the red comes from my family who are Scottish/Irish.

It was him, I knew it!

Floundering · 12/11/2015 21:57

OMG Matt is going to kill her!

quirkychick · 12/11/2015 21:58

Aagghh, the virgin box turned itself off!

toccata010 · 12/11/2015 21:58

Sorry, just rambling but that son is awful

Baconyum · 12/11/2015 22:00

Lizzie lied to hide her racist past and cos she was ashamed of robbing him.

Sir Phillip had a past to hide too and a lot to lose! Glad he's proud of his son even though his son put him in.

Fr Rob also had a lot to hide and to lose. Just as prideful and arrogant as Sir Phillip imho.

Descipable people though all of them, even Lizzie.

Fantastic series very well made by all involved.

lorelei9 · 12/11/2015 22:01

Sorry to be thick but why wouldn't Thea be blonde?

That whole last episode was a bit unsatisfying.

whathavewedonenow99 · 12/11/2015 22:01

Why was the son being so bad to his mother? Did I miss a bit?

Sansoora · 12/11/2015 22:02

Curtis and Lizzie were thankfully ok but apart from that - Jeez. Sad

Floundering · 12/11/2015 22:03

Did Matt kill his Mum though?

quirkychick · 12/11/2015 22:03

I will have to watch the end again as the Virgin Box decided to power up 5mins to the end. Grrrr.

Flowersonthewall · 12/11/2015 22:03

That's what I was wondering why was he so awful to her? He was the younger son son only a toddler when they buried Nicholas surely the older son may have seen something?

Sansoora · 12/11/2015 22:03

Why was the son being so bad to his mother? Did I miss a bit?

He was punishing her.

Sansoora · 12/11/2015 22:03

Just what had Fenwick done?

Floundering · 12/11/2015 22:04

I agree a bit of a let down after all the intrigue of the last few weeks.

987flowers · 12/11/2015 22:04

The son seemed to already know what had happened, was it him who gave Claire the black eye in a previous episode?

Sansoora · 12/11/2015 22:04

Did Matt kill his Mum though?

No, he was torturing her to death slowly.

Sansoora · 12/11/2015 22:07

I agree a bit of a let down after all the intrigue of the last few weeks.

For me it was the only way it could have ended because despite there being 5 previous episodes there really hadn't been much of a story to hint at with clues. I felt as if we were always waiting for the next bit in order to find out more when there wasn't anymore to find out.

It was a story that unfolded with a gentle final chapter.

ihatethecold · 12/11/2015 22:08

Well. That was a disappointment

moreshitandnofuckingredemption · 12/11/2015 22:08

I CALLED IT!!! Sunday night!
(albeit without any detail or, like, story-tying-in stuff)

WoodyARF · 12/11/2015 22:09

Want more!!!!! Not satisfied!!

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 12/11/2015 22:09

Fenwick was a "Kray twin" like gangster. Nasty piece of work. Frankie C did his bidding, but nothing to do with Jimmy's actual death.

Sinister ending for Claire then. That was quite scary.

I wept for Jimmy's mother by the grave.

I was even a little sad for Sir Frank. A victim of his criminal past haunting him.

Glad Lizzie ended happily.

I thought it was really good. So glad we'll get a second series. I love the main actress whose name escapes me.
