ITV’s six episode thriller series Unforgotten from former ITV drama executives Laura Mackie and Sally Haynes’ fledgling indie Mainstreet Pictures will premiere on Thursday October 8th at 9pm, it has been announced.

Penned by Undeniable scribe Chris Lang, Unforgotten tells the story of an 39 year old cold investigation into the murder of a boy who was killed in 1976. The modern day investigation is run by DCI Cassie Stuart and DI Sunil ‘Sunny’ Khan, who must re-examine the evidence and investigate the key suspects – Robert Greaves, Frank Philip Cross, Lizzie Wilton and Eric Slater – in order to close the case. The series utilises a multi-stranded narrative, set in different parts of the country, which explores and connects each of the principle characters.

The six-parter is produced by Mainstreet Pictures and features a large cast that includes Sanjeev Bhaskar (The Kumars), Nicola Walker (Last Tango In Halifax), Trevor Eve (Waking The Dead), Bernard Hill (The Grid), Ruth Sheen (Our Girl), Tom Courtenay (The Dresser), Gemma Jones (Marvellous), Brian Bovell (Death in Paradise), Cherie Lunghi (Casualty), Hannah Gordon (Hustle), Claire Goose (Mount Pleasant) Tamzin Malleson (Midsomer Murders), Peter Egan (Downton Abbey), and Frances Tomelty (Catastrophe). Ripper Street helmer Andy Wilson was the director.

Cocolepew · 08/10/2015 22:02

At last, something I want to watch that isn't on Netflix Grin

sadwidow28 · 08/10/2015 22:04

I have missed it Angry

Got a phone call just after it started - my 91yr old mother is back in a care home after attending A&E. (She was only discharged from the care home on Monday and managed to do a 'walk-about' on Tuesday night, had a fall and knocked at a strangers door to give her a lift back home.)

I live at a distance so I keep in touch by phone - she is fine and safe and I know where she is (supervised by my 2 sisters who would give the Ugly Sisters in Cinderella a run for their money when it comes to speaking to me!)

I'll walk the dog again and then watch it on catch-up.

I enjoyed that. Nice slow build. Loving the forensic revelations.

ENtertainmentAppreciated · 08/10/2015 22:04

I watched it. First time in ages I stopped surfing the net while the TV was one.
I love Nicola Walker too, big girl crush.

BitOfFun · 08/10/2015 22:08

My first prediction will be that the lady with dementia/Alzheimers is going to recall something from long ago. And I suspect that there is something buried under her house, hence the husband's reluctance to move.

BitOfFun · 08/10/2015 22:10

I'm sorry to hear your news, Sadwidow- I know what a worry it must be. Best wishes to your mother and you.

HelenaDove · 08/10/2015 22:11

Watching on itv +1 Martin from Game On hasnt half changed.

DragonsCanHop · 08/10/2015 22:16

Sorry to hear about your mum and sisters Sadwidow Sad

It was such a slow start Dh fell asleep, I liked it though.

Caprinihahahaha · 08/10/2015 22:16

Oh so sorry sadwitch - you must catch up. It's very good.

Yes - the reluctance to move thing is dodgy BOF.
DH was getting pissed off with my shrieking 'ooh it's him/her. I love her' every time one of the great cast appeared.
Def morphing into my mother. If I can just fail to remember their names and the name of everything they appeared in previously, I will have cracked it

"Ooh look, it's her. The one from that thing we liked. The bleak thing with the landscapes and the nasty guy with the ferret.."

Clawdy · 08/10/2015 22:18

Enjoyed this one. The side stories were all interesting for a change, and I liked the two officers. Fun seeing all those faces from the past amongst the actors too!

HelenaDove · 08/10/2015 22:19

The one sibling doing all or most of the caring is very realistic.

The80sweregreat · 08/10/2015 22:23

Bof, yes, that makes sense why he wont move.
Good acting and 'saffend' on there too.
Liked it.
The cop isnt a alcoholicn with a dodgy past either, as they usually are

Cocolepew · 08/10/2015 22:24

I hope your mum is ok sadwidow Flowers

The80sweregreat · 08/10/2015 22:26

Ps, sorry to hear about your mum sadwitch. Can sympathise.

AnnieNoMouse · 08/10/2015 22:27

Sadwidow - sorry to hear about your mother Flowers for you both.

And thank you for the thread.
I really enjoyed the first episode - at last, a crime (drama) worthy of the MNPD's attentions Grin I'm looking forward to hearing all the theories and becoming totally obsessed by it (I've been missing The Missing)

Dragons - was that the Southend seafront the vicar was driving along? I missed the title for that section.
And the 4 are - the vicar, Trevor Eve, man in wheelchair (Peter Egan?). So is the fourth nice football lady (Ruth Sheen) the fourth person? But she's younger than the other three, so I'm guessing a contemporary of dead Jimmy, and possibly the brother or other link to her current partner? And the three men - members of a paedophile ring?

HelenaDove · 08/10/2015 22:27

Best thoughts to your mum sadwidow Thanks

Caprinihahahaha · 08/10/2015 22:28

Tom Courtney is in the wheelchair.

sadwidow28 · 08/10/2015 22:44

If anyone else missed the first episode, it is available on ITV catch-up:

Unforgotten Episode 1

I am watching now .... catch you on the thread in an hour!

I really enjoyed that. I'm intrigued. I need to remember to set the planner so I don't lose it.

I loved when they showed her the diary and she said "I've fallen a little bit in love with you" it's the type of geeky thing that would impress me as well.

SuckingEggs · 08/10/2015 22:48

Hope your mum is ok, Sad Flowers

sadwidow28 · 08/10/2015 22:54

Adverts are on ... so I am sending Trevor Eve back into the pot for MNetters adopt and drool. I don't like facial hair (beards/moustaches) so he is NOT for me in this drama.

OP posts:
eddiemairswife · 08/10/2015 23:10

I really enjoyed this. Not filmed in semi-darkness, no-one running somewhere in slow motion, no plinky-plonk 'atmospheric' music. And, lastly, actors I could actually recognise instead of the youngish, darkish, bearded men who seem to appear in so many dramas in ever-increasing numbers.

Catzpyjamas · 08/10/2015 23:13

I really liked that (just watched after recording to skip the ads).
The forensics are fascinating.

MyBoysAreFab · 08/10/2015 23:17

I thought that too BOF about not wanting to move. I hope it isn't going to be a church paedophile ring storyline or summat. Great cast.
