ITV’s six episode thriller series Unforgotten from former ITV drama executives Laura Mackie and Sally Haynes’ fledgling indie Mainstreet Pictures will premiere on Thursday October 8th at 9pm, it has been announced.

Penned by Undeniable scribe Chris Lang, Unforgotten tells the story of an 39 year old cold investigation into the murder of a boy who was killed in 1976. The modern day investigation is run by DCI Cassie Stuart and DI Sunil ‘Sunny’ Khan, who must re-examine the evidence and investigate the key suspects – Robert Greaves, Frank Philip Cross, Lizzie Wilton and Eric Slater – in order to close the case. The series utilises a multi-stranded narrative, set in different parts of the country, which explores and connects each of the principle characters.

The six-parter is produced by Mainstreet Pictures and features a large cast that includes Sanjeev Bhaskar (The Kumars), Nicola Walker (Last Tango In Halifax), Trevor Eve (Waking The Dead), Bernard Hill (The Grid), Ruth Sheen (Our Girl), Tom Courtenay (The Dresser), Gemma Jones (Marvellous), Brian Bovell (Death in Paradise), Cherie Lunghi (Casualty), Hannah Gordon (Hustle), Claire Goose (Mount Pleasant) Tamzin Malleson (Midsomer Murders), Peter Egan (Downton Abbey), and Frances Tomelty (Catastrophe). Ripper Street helmer Andy Wilson was the director.

If Thea does turn out to be Jimmy's child then at least that'll give the sad lady in Liverpool a happy ending.

BTW she, like Jo-Jo, was a pregnant 15 year old.

SuckingEggs · 12/11/2015 18:45

Surely the priest will have met Thea and if she was mixed-race, wouldn't have supported her?

SuckingEggs · 12/11/2015 18:45

Which means she's not Jimmy's, possibly?

Sansoora · 12/11/2015 19:32

Im here trying to stay awake till the finale starts which is at approx 2am my time.

Floundering · 12/11/2015 20:39

Yes Fascicle, I'd forgotten that, all moves so bloody quickly!!

Just getting some late supper so I can be ready to concentrate!!

WoodyARF · 12/11/2015 20:44

15 mins to go! Hoping it's a good and satisfying ending.....

SuckingEggs · 12/11/2015 20:49

Hope so. Am relishing this - esp with you lot watching too Smile

WoodyARF · 12/11/2015 20:56

I think all four major characters contributed to Jimmy’s demise but none of them individually murdered him

Vistaverde · 12/11/2015 21:00

I know I'm very late to this thread but I think it's Claire Slater and that the title refers to her lost memory due to the dementia as well as Jimmy's disappearance.

quirkychick · 12/11/2015 21:01

Yy WoodyARF I think they must all be involved somehow, else why would they have continually lied? They all seem to be haunted by Jimmy and the past, desperate to get away.

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/11/2015 21:04

here we go ........

WoodyARF · 12/11/2015 21:10

ooooh.......it's being recorded - 10 mins behind!!!!!.........Maybe they were all aware of each other’s input and the three men buried Jimmy together after they all were violent towards him (I think Lizzy, through stealing the £50 off Jimmy plus her racism was her input towards his death) - Phil was told to put nails in Jimmy's hand by the Fenwicks for the £50 abortion money which wasn't paid back, Rob for revenge of Jimmy beating him up when he slept with Jimmy's gf Jo-jo, Eric for being 'serviced' by Jimmy and trying to deny to himself he was a closet homosexual, hence being aggressive and abusive to gay men (and murdering one two years later!)........

toccata010 · 12/11/2015 21:15

I've been following your chats, absolutely loving this! I think Erics son is heavily involved, the one who is not so close to his parents.

quirkychick · 12/11/2015 21:17

Ooh, Vistaverde you could be right! If Eric's telling the truth...

Vistaverde · 12/11/2015 21:20

quirkychick, funnily enough something about his confession made me think he is covering for the real killer.

Floundering · 12/11/2015 21:21

Handy to blame it on the demented spouse though eh?

Baconyum · 12/11/2015 21:22

Lying bastard! I don't think it was Claire! Just trying to save his own neck!

A pp said fr rob only one not to reform. Au contraire I think Lizzie was the only one TO reform! Fr rob has continued to be a lying deceitful stingy thieveing git for 40 years! Frankie C hasn't changed he just hid it well and used his psychotic personality to advance in business and govt and Eric was merely restricted by his disability (but still controlling and violent).

And Lizzie seems the only one who felt any real guilt!

Baconyum · 12/11/2015 21:24

Oh and I remember ATM cards in the late 70's and as they started in London possible their use spread there first.

quirkychick · 12/11/2015 21:28

Eric knows Jimmy was killed by a blunt blow to the head, but what about the injury to his hand?

Baconyum · 12/11/2015 21:28

If Thea is Jimmy's remember she'd only be 1\4 afro Carribean so not necessarily obviously physically mixed heritage.

Floundering · 12/11/2015 21:35

So do we believe Eric?

So glad Lizzie survived, she's the only one with any real conscience.

987flowers · 12/11/2015 21:38

If Eric is to be believed why is everyone else so scared!!

Sansoora · 12/11/2015 21:40

Im so glad about Lizzie.

Who did it? God knows. Tom Courtney is such a good actor he's not giving anything away with a bit of ham handedness Grin

But Im glad its all being explained rather than us having to work it out.

WoodyARF · 12/11/2015 21:40

Oh my......Clare?

Sansoora · 12/11/2015 21:41

OMG - Thea is a blonde!!!!!

Not that I should be surprised given my rainbow family.

But you were right Bacon about her not looking Afro-Caribbean.
