Anyone watching this, I like Suranne Jones so I'm hoping it's good, but she is one paranoid woman, maybe she has good reasons, we'll wait and see Smile

When was the DNA test? I missed that too

Greengardenpixie · 01/10/2015 22:00

and who's dna test?????? How does that fit in with the story!!

aftereight · 01/10/2015 22:01

doll I like your theory. I do think that the MN versions of the plot have been much more interesting than the actual plot so far Grin

CremeBrulee · 01/10/2015 22:22

I like the idea that the older doctor is Simon's dad. Wouldn't that then also make him Dr Foster?

Maybe the whole thing is his revenge on Gemma? At the start he blamed her for his fall from grace and his loss of the senior partner position.

Perhaps a play on the 'hell hath no fury like a woman scorned' thing - as in yes it does!

NoelHeadbands · 01/10/2015 22:40

There was one bit last night where Gemma's shadow/silhouette was shown on the wall, where I did think for a moment that she was swabbing the inside of her cheek, but then it showed her applying make up so I think it was just a make up brush.

Is that what people mean by the DNA test, or have I missed something completely?

StepfauxWife · 01/10/2015 22:41

Ooh. The French house is called "Pierre Blanche" - translates to White Stone which is the name of the company investing in Simon's company!

StepfauxWife · 01/10/2015 22:44

And that's Kate's dad's house so he must be investing in the business which is perhaps why Simon can't break it off with Kate..

sadwidow28 · 01/10/2015 22:54

For those missing the significance of the holiday home being called La Pierre Blanche (Translation = White Stone):

Whitestone is the name of the company backing Simon's property development venture - the old school building. Neil (accountant) told Gemma that he didn't know the identity of the financial investors/backers.

ellenanora5 · 01/10/2015 22:55

Dolly, I thought that too, but wouldn't Gemma know he is her father in law, I'm still confused as too how the mother knew about the affair, she said it's going on two years, unless she was talking about her own husband of course.

The secretary looks permanently guilty about something, she was on the trip to France with whoever took the photos (Roz maybe??) or has she been accounted for.

Neither parent seems to give a shit about Tom, poor little chap.

I think Gemma has huge anger and resenment towards her parents dying, I don't think she's ever forgiven them for leaving her so her comments about Tom getting used to her not being around are reflecting what she has done herself to cope with bereavement, also saying to old doc that what has happened to her is worse than him losing his life long partner is a strange thing to say, I'm not sure what she meant by that.

I'm looking forward to next week, I hope we see the neighbours again because that's kind of been left up in the air hasn't it, we don't know why the wife acted so weird when Gemma was in her house.

I think I may just have typed a load of gobbledygook so apologies if none of it makes sense Grin

Might Ros be trying to get rid of Gemma so she can snare Simon & become senior partner at the gp practice? Including looking in her bag? Making complaint about the pills? Trolling on the Internet? She has also helped Simon in his affair to undermine the marriage. It seemed to me that she pretty much admitted to sleeping with him in last week's episode. Maybe she wants to be Dr Foster?

ENtertainmentAppreciated · 01/10/2015 23:07

When Gemma was getting ready, before Simon came home and she surprised him with the night out, it looked like she was taking a swab from inside her mouth. I thought DNA too, but immediately after that she was putting mascara on. It was confusing, so then I thought I'd been mistaken.

2rebecca · 01/10/2015 23:11

Ros could be going for senior parter. Weird as in most modern GP practices it's a fairly meaningless title and just refers to the partner who has been there longest who is usually the oldest. Gemma was specially anointed senior partner by someone who isn't even a partner any more though so fuck knows what bells and whistles go with being senior partner in this practice.
Not sure why she'd want Simon. If Gemma who is more attractive can't keep him faithful what chance does she have? maybe there's not enough misery and debt in her life...

PlayingSolitaire · 02/10/2015 08:11

When Kate came in and had the pregnancy test ect, did Gemma take a DNA swab then? I can't quite remember, but wonder if this is what people are talking about?

Which could well mean that Gemma has proof that Kate is Simon's daughter and therefore of the incest. Which is gross, but I think it is plausible the BBC have gone down that route for a big shocker/ not been done before.

I think the Dr Foster went to Gloucester thing was done in this week's episode. She tried to drown herself and "never went there again".

I don't think there was a 6th person on the holiday. I think that "who took the photo" is something the writer/editor hasn't considered!!

PlayingSolitaire · 02/10/2015 08:12

BTW. I thought the other GP who suspended Gemma was a very convincing doctor. He was just like one!!

TheTravellingLemon · 02/10/2015 08:38

I also think the 'who took the picture?' thing is a red herring. It could have been on timer or a passing stranger or anyone.

I don't think the parents know about he affair.

I would like to see her get really good revenge. Not just an awkward dinner party, something much more along the lines of framing them for murder.

2rebecca · 02/10/2015 09:15

Why? He is her son's father and seems a caring father. Yes he's had an affair but her son shouldn't be punished by having his father unfairly in gaol and labelled a murderer.

TheTravellingLemon · 02/10/2015 09:44

Yes, but it's also a tv programme so I don't have to worry about his welfare, I can just satisfy my darker side.

Also, it makes for a much more interesting watch than 'everybody was a little bit embarrassed'.

MyNameIsRonnieFuckingPickering · 02/10/2015 10:10

Oh God yes, the beauty of fiction is that you can take a huge dislike to a character and wish hellfire and damnation upon them without having to give two hoots about being objective and fair.

thunderbird69 · 02/10/2015 10:23

Don't know if this has already been mentioned, but how on earth did she suddenly appear on the beach?

The old bloke looked down for a few seconds at the phone and she went from nowhere to be seen to standing right in front of him?

New theory, she did drown and is now a ghost? woooo!! Grin

SinisterBumFacedCat · 02/10/2015 11:16

I can't work out if the actress who plays Kate is doing a really good job of being sulky and bored looking or is actually a bad actress who can't be arsed!

Btw, Simon - no!
Sleazy accountant Neil - Hell yes! Blush

FawnDrench · 02/10/2015 12:16

Thunderbird - re suddenly appearing on the beach - it's not her, she drowned, it's obviously her secret TWIN who was given away at birth and has reappeared to reclaim her life. She has been secretly following her sister and is now in a position to "get a life", and it's her who has been scorned, not SJ.
I think that's the only wholly believable storyline now, don't you?
