Anyone watching this, I like Suranne Jones so I'm hoping it's good, but she is one paranoid woman, maybe she has good reasons, we'll wait and see Smile

She is like a Catherine Tate character. And she's always a mixture of furtive and surprised. She may as well have these stuck to her face....

Fannycraddock79 · 01/10/2015 17:02

Agree with jaketweeny on the fake drowning.

Grin @ the eyes

Lottapianos · 01/10/2015 17:05

Grin Noel

I noticed the 'in a hotel' line too and thought Confused. It's a load of utter crap really, isn't it? But not one of us can bear to miss it next week!

NoelHeadbands · 01/10/2015 17:09

I cannot wait!

I hope it's a suitably bonkers ending

Drew64 · 01/10/2015 17:10

The dinner party looks like it is going to get interesting next week.
I can't wait!

Lottapianos · 01/10/2015 17:11

Bake Off final and then Doctor Foster! Too much excitement for a Wednesday night!

BakewellStart

You asked Who were the other people featuring in the holiday snaps the assistant emailed to Dr Foster?

I did a screenshot from episode 4 last night

I think it is:

  • Simon Foster and Kate (OW)
  • Neil and Anna (Opposite neighbours - accountant who helped Simon raise money for the property development)
  • Becky (Simon's Assistant)

Does everyone agree?

Agreed

sadwidow28 · 01/10/2015 17:44

can someone explain her taking dna samples from cheek please

I can't explain why DNA samples were taken - other than as a 'plot device'

It could lead to a brilliant final episode:

  • Susie Parks and Simon Foster had a fling (Ros Mehendra said that everyone 'had' everyone up against a wall at the school)
  • Simon left for London and met Gemma
  • Susie gave birth to Kate but pretended to Chris that he's the father
  • It will all come out that Simon's had an affair with his own daughter.

Simon has had so many women he can't keep track of how many he's impregnated or he's just so irresponsible it doesn't even occur to him he could be Kate's dad.

Is that a workable theory?

Septembersunrays · 01/10/2015 18:53

YES it is! but extraordinary for bbc.....would be really interesting though and great revenge for his philandering ways sad

BakewellStart · 01/10/2015 19:52

Thanks SadWidow - Iam on the family antique laptop (DD using the one that actually works for homework) that takes 3 days to load a page hence I missed lots of posts and pictures because I was too impatient to wait for the page to load!

But thanks for the pics because that had been bothering me lots since last night! Smile

MajesticWhine · 01/10/2015 20:09

OMG -have you lot seen this clip - it must be from next week. Love it.
The cracks begin to show

Emalushka · 01/10/2015 20:25

Wow! Love that clip. Really looking forward to next week. Who did Dr Foster take DNA from? I think I missed that bit.

BitOfFun · 01/10/2015 20:28

Yes, I missed the DNA bit.

fourquenelles · 01/10/2015 20:32

OK I tried to do some CSI stuff on the holiday photo to see if I could see a reflection in the sunglasses of whomever took the photograph. I know, I know that in real life it would have been some poor production assistant but... but...but... what if the Beeb are playing with us and the person taking the photograph is there in plain sight? To no avail I am afraid as my laptop is crappy.

btw loving all your work on alternative plot lines. MN is wasted sometimes I tell yer.

LovelyFriend · 01/10/2015 20:43

the clip is great - she is winding him up beautifully

M4blues · 01/10/2015 20:48

But who do we think took the picture?
I can't believe that in episode 1, the neighbour is acting like her friend and confidante in the kitchen when she's just come back from a holiday with him and his mistress. Shock I just couldn't go to dinner with mutual friends like that and act all cool when I'd just been complicit in one of them committing adultery.

dollypollyrage · 01/10/2015 20:49

So am not sure if anyone has suggested this before but I think that Jack, the old alcoholic doctor, is Simon ' s dad. And yes he had an affair and left Simon ' s mum but for a man , his partner of 30 years, David?
Not sure what the relevance of it is to the story as a whole but there were a couple of things that hinted at it for me. He knows a lot about Simon and his past and what he was like growing up. And when him and Gemma were back at the flat he was talking about Simon ' s dad and saying things along the lines of 'the apple doesn't fall far from the tree' and how Simon was growing up to be like his dad and Gemma looked at the messy room and said "I hope not".

Aramynta · 01/10/2015 21:08

Who is taking the photos of them all???

I dont get why Simon is so awkward at the dinner table. Its not like its the first time they have been all together! They were all there at his birthday party! It is a bit of a joke this programme.

LovelyFriend · 01/10/2015 21:43

I'm rewatching as I totally missed DNA test.

I intensely dislike Roz.
