Oooh new thread. The first ever post on thread number one made me laugh ice.. I'm guessing the poster wasn't feeling the love of captain sternface Smile congratulations to all the birthdays and anniversaries hope you have all had lovely daysFlowers

Rhubarb01 · 01/09/2015 22:58

Hello thread 24. Looking back at thread 1 I love the fact that we were all so serious most of the time and spent so much time discussing the plot and script and technical details. We had no idea where we would end up almost a year later!

Richtea19 · 01/09/2015 22:59

maddie it's so funny the first post on thread one. It really annoyed us all as the first post always stayed ontop of the thread and we thought if BA ever read it he would be put off with the negative comment!!

orphan · 01/09/2015 23:01

Haven't reread thread 1 yet but suspect that it was a lot more innocent than current discussions and probably much more about the series! I don't think I plucked up courage to post until towards the end of the thread. Actually, I think it was reading richtea's decision to join in as a 'newbie' that inspired me.Smile

Richtea19 · 01/09/2015 23:04

I joined MN and the thread on the 22nd October, I might have a glass of Prosecco on my 1 year anniversary! ... Any excuse :). Where has this year gone!!

orphan · 01/09/2015 23:04

I also remember being obsessed with the position of the photo on CJ's desk. Now when I think of desks it's more to do with 'hot desking' and swivel chairs.Wink

pixieg1rl · 01/09/2015 23:21

I could have sworn I didn't start posting until 4 or 5, but I think it must have been 3. Hilarious stuff. I'm at a few days after episode 5 being screened and I think ilove is concerned that she hasn't got a grip on reality yet and is getting a bit obsessed Grin

Ilovelblue · 01/09/2015 23:33

I know pixie! It had just never happened to me before. I remember lurking for a while and thinking I was incredibly daring putting my views out there. Who remembers the woman whose husband was a colonel (if not something higher) and we asked her questions about army life which had triggered our thoughts through watching OG. She was able to answer a lot of them herself but if she couldn't, she went and asked her husband. He hadn't been very impressed with the series - not factually correct enough I seem to recall.

Isn't it strange how so many have dropped by the wayside yet we are still collecting new people? Maybe our watch-a-long will encourage new posters too?

Ilovelblue · 01/09/2015 23:34

Did any of us at the time really think we'd still be here almost a year later?

KellyHb · 01/09/2015 23:41

I'm literally howling with laughter at some of these comments. I'm trying to be quiet as everyone's asleep upstairs. I've already chocked on my tea four times! Confused

KellyHb · 01/09/2015 23:43

Was that lady called Nappy Valley ilove?

Richtea19 · 01/09/2015 23:48

It wasn't nappyvalley but I do remember the person you mean, my memory is fading.. NVM was one of the earliest to post. I can't beleive we actually went to the West Ham ground and went to MD flat and took pictures.. I hope she comes back in series 2.

Ilovelblue · 01/09/2015 23:55

No, Nappy Valley was a solicitor by profession I think Richtea? We PMd a few times. She was totally obsessed. Well, we all were really (and some of us still are). She made me laugh because she'd put some screenshots etc on her phone and was wanting people to ask who CJ was - was he her boyfriend.

In the first thread, we even set ourselves GCSE type questions about the series and as Rhubarb said, we were quite hung up on the technicalities, dissecting the script etc. I suppose there's only so much of that you can do and by thread 24, we're all at PhD level on the whys and wherefores.

At what point did you join orphan and ice?

Onlygirljen · 02/09/2015 06:34

Thread 1 has been keeping me laughing during an airport wait, hilarious. I remember lurking for ages till I started posting, don't think I made an appearance till 7, it was definitely around Christmas time because it wasn't long after I started writing FF. Cant believe it's nearly a year since it all started. Smile

icemistOBE · 02/09/2015 07:01

I'm there on thread 1. I joined in after he last episode when I desperately needed someone to talk to about the series. I had lurked after googling and found it. I remember laughing so much about it.

I wonder did the rubbish agency ever give Ben his birthday and Christmas cards?

Back to school this morning, best get myself out of bed I think

WHAJEB1 · 02/09/2015 07:13

Thoroughly enjoyed reading that first thread especially since a year on I'm still fascinated by peoples thoughts and dissection of scenes, the magic really hasn't gone!

rhubarb loved the Bridget jones books but really didn't warm to the films, obviously did laugh at the CF/BJ interview as that had been one of the highlights of the 2nd book. lolagirl had kindly put a link up to it on Facebook and I wonder if they had great fun filming it! Thanks as always for your positive comments x

pixieg1rl · 02/09/2015 07:37

I'm happy to spend tomorrow PMing old thread posters about the watch along if you like ice (I've seen the positive in DS starting school and have taken a couple of days off to be child-free).

orphan · 02/09/2015 07:47

Uh oh, staff training day today and tomorrow. Sad

ilove I joined towards end of thread 1. Very earnest and unsullied. Clearly exposure to all you reprobates has had a detrimental effect.

Have a good day everyone. Am now off to do my first day's honest work for years!

Richtea19 · 02/09/2015 07:53

Good luck today orphan, Go and be brilliant!

icemistOBE · 02/09/2015 08:11

Good luck orphan

pixieg1rl · 02/09/2015 08:29

Good luck today orph, maybe wait until coffee break until you tell them about Rupe and your colourful history with woof

Ilovelblue · 02/09/2015 08:29

Good luck orphan!

pixie how funny if that first negative poster accepted the invitation to join in the watchalong. Really we should thank her. Would be nice if SPO would break cover?

icemistOBE · 02/09/2015 10:14

I've pm SPO Would great if he popped on. I've got some Molly photos already for him Smile

K gone off to year 1. Cue years from mummy leaving the school- year 1 seems scarier that reception!

KellyHb · 02/09/2015 10:46

Morning all. Good luck orph. You'll be great! Although by the time you read these you'll be finished for the day. Hope you had a fab first day! Star

Just got back in from running around doing errands. Dropped DD off at Year 1 today too ice and it does seem a lot scarier than reception for some reason. Met the new teachers and that class have a first aider and know all about DD diabetes so I didn't have to teach them anything! Saves a job.

Feel weirdly wide awake for being up since 6.30! Hope you have a good work trip Jen.

I remember reading about the trip to MD's flat, football ground etc. Pics were on here, I think? I didn't realise it was you rich.
