We went to Le Manoir ilove. It was a surprise organised by my DH and was the lushest of treats. Definitely worth waiting 25 years for and there was champagne and a dozen red roses waiting in the suite :) Think I'll hold onto him Star. I thought of you, the gardens were fantastic, including a two acre kitchen garden, where they grow most of the fresh produce served. Apparently Raymond makes sure to know the provenance of all his ingredients. It goes without saying the food was fantastic, 2 Michelin stars. I feel truly spoilt.

Ilovelblue · 04/09/2015 09:12

Oh you lucky thing! I have been as well but only for lunch on my 50th birthday (well it was a few weeks afterwards to be honest). We stayed in Oxford though - couldn't afford to stay overnight! You are soooooo lucky.

Yes, the gardens were amazing. The Royal Horticultural Society do organised tours round the gardens every so often and charge £80 a time, so the fact we paid £75 for lunch and being able to go round the gardens for free seemed a bargain! Hahaha. Did you stay in the house itself or one of those lovely looking cottages in the grounds?

We were in one of the cottages with our own little terrace. It was an amazing experience, we took a self-guided tour of the gardens and ooh'd and arr'd over everything. The evening dining experience was fabulous, seven courses, I've never tasted food like it, there aren't enough superlatives to describe the flavours. And of course the staff were tripping over themselves to help....we even got sent on our way with a goody bag of food and drink in case we got peckish on the journey home - no chance, I don't need to eat for a week!

Alwaysfrank · 04/09/2015 09:41

Ooh Dizzy that sounds fab. My colleague was whisked there as a surprise for her silver wedding anniversary last year. Mine is in just over a year, I would love to go there but not holding my breath!

Just one point of correction - I am actually the longest serving current poster with my first appearance on page 4 of thread 1 under my previous name of being frank (had to change it as I got recognised by a friend on another thread!). I may not say a lot or very often but I have been doing so for a long time - 13 October to be precise.

Very busy week here - twins started their new (different) secondary schools. So far so good. I'm already enjoying not having to do the school run any more and it's only day 2 of travelling independently!

Earlier this week I was in a hurry to get somewhere and saw someone from behind walking along the pavement with two others who had something of BA about him. I was in the car and couldn't catch up with him before I had to turn off unfortunately. The diarrhoea coloured jacket was what caught my eye first. I don't think it was him - the build looked a bit slight, but for a moment I really seriously thought about diverting from my route to follow - mad or what!

Only two weeks till dd starts at Bath - off to IKEA this morning to buy all those things we didn't know we need till we see them!

Good luck today Orphan and to all those children starting school and nursery!

cjwoofwoof · 04/09/2015 10:40

Well I'm back and feeling a whole decade older Sad but on the plus side my feet haven't touched the ground I've been spoilt so much. I think Her Majesty must've died and made me Queen because the treats have gone on and on. And they ain't over yet - DH whisking me away again next week on our own for the first time in 20 years at last! there are some advantages of having an 18year old lazy little bleeder at home to man the fort

Dizzy well jel of your Manoir experience - Ive only got as close as driving past the signpost to it. Bet the food was delish and much like you and I will be serving up for tea tonight not

Hope everyone's little bleeders have settled in at new schools/classes. Mine looked so smart toddling off to Secondary school on his first day but has miraculously turned into Kevin the Teenager by this morning - how? And middle DS has reverted to the grunting norm, bless him.

Thanks for sending Rupert round orph but I have to say I don't like the way he's getting into character by shaving all his hair off - and not only on his head either - I'm afraid he's reminding me too much of Buster Bloodvessel when we were groupies for Bad Manners back in 1981 when you mistakenly got onto their tour bus thinking it was Duncan Goodhew and the men's Olympic swimming team you were following. To be fair, Busters tongue was truly record-breaking, however, and memorable for many reasons. Hope the job is going well orph - just go and be brilliant.

Morning.

Really cloudy and cold here today. Had to wear a scarf to pick up DD yesterday!

Luscious lip pics ice. Oh to have a kiss on those would be like manna from heaven. So annoys me still how LT had that cold sore and we missed out on what could have been in that bedroom scene. Angry

Always funny how you mentioned you used to post as a different name as I was reading the first thread last night and I saw the name beingfrank and thought of you. Smile Such a funny thread. I was howling laughing. I had to read a few out to DH. A few people as well were complaining about OG but said they would still watch it.

ilove Your garden sounds lovely. I would love a BlackBerry bush in my garden. I do love to pick them when I see some lovely ripe ones.

Wow dizzy I'm extremely jealous. What a fabulous treat from your DH!! The food sounds divine too. It sounds like a treat CJ would organise for Molly.

Watched the Jeep ad last night online. Was in complete CJ delirium with the music and the car definately looked like one he would drive.

Going to try and catch up on FF while twins are playing.

LolaKent14 · 04/09/2015 10:55

Morning all half way thru first thread. Hilarious how people critiqued but said I'm watching it anyways....

My aunt over from Ireland for weekend today so will be doing the castle tours of Kent....

KellyHb · 04/09/2015 10:58

Welcome back woof. Sounds like you've been having good birthday celebrations. Flowers

With all these DH's spoiling their wives, I'll have to remind my DH to take me somewhere in 15 years time without the kids. I'll be about ready for the mental asylum by then Confused

Funny woof you mentioning Duncan Goodhew, my DH and his sister met him years ago and his Mam's got a picture of him with other family pics in their downstairs bathroom. Confused

cjwoofwoof · 04/09/2015 11:24

Ah yes kel Dunc Good orph used to call him... Grin but she's always never been fussy...

Alwaysfrank · 04/09/2015 12:02

Wasn't the suspected cold sore in the same place as the injury from when she was attacked by Bashira's brother? When I last saw the episode I thought that it was the remnants of the healing injury rather than a cold sore?

Very efficient IKEA trip - there and back in two hours Grin and not too expensive either!

Richtea19 · 04/09/2015 12:24

This is just another reason. Why Tom Hardy ticks all the boxes!

Richtea19 · 04/09/2015 12:28

dizzy lucky you! Will have to drop hints to DH!!!

Welcome back woof my DS has already managed to get ink (won't come out) down his crisp white shirt!!!

KellyHb · 04/09/2015 12:32

I thought that always about the injury in the same place but then the cold sore issue came up and it made sense because in a lot of scenes on EE or on TV when she was promoting OG, you could see a cold sore in the same place.

If she was ever doing a cameo in S2, I'd FedEx her a boat load of Zovirax just to be on the safe side. I can't miss out on any passion scenes between these two.

How cute rich. And hes going to be a Dad again too. I've had a soft spot for TH ever since he was in Inception and he was gorgeous in Mad Max. Grin

pixieg1rl · 04/09/2015 12:35

I'm PMing a whole load of thread 1 & 2 posters at the moment for the watchalong - I keep reading them and wondering how many are still on here just as name changers. There's some very familiar tones to them, and one other woman who liked the lego Strike Back boys

klj78 · 04/09/2015 12:38

Still going! Whoever would've believed it a year ago, and where has that time gone! I think it's great ????

cjwoofwoof · 04/09/2015 12:54

Always thought there must be someone out there with the same excellent taste in Lego Men as me pix

Think you'll find there's few takers for Manu's obvious charms so I'm more than happy to take up the actually very rigid slack where he's concerned Grin

Jury's still out for me with TH Rich my hands are already quite full with my stable full of Lego stallions back at Woof Manor so I think you can keep TH for your own uses at the moment always generous me

cjwoofwoof · 04/09/2015 12:58

Haven't had the pen stained shirt yet Rich but did notice skid marks on both blazer sleeves at cuff level this morning from either/or/both nose/mouth Hmm Hence mini pack of tissues in breast pocket issued just in case. Ah the joys of motherhood...

pixieg1rl · 04/09/2015 13:07

Is anyone in touch with cherin to see if she wants to join in the watchalong? if not I'll message her too

KellyHb · 04/09/2015 13:21

No cherins not messaged for a while pix.

BA's following someone new on Twitter. Some theatrical dance group. He does like the theatrical side of life jazz hands

KellyHb · 04/09/2015 13:22

Hi klj78 Are you a newbie or one of the original thread crew??

BK28 · 04/09/2015 13:35

Oh dizzy that sounds wonderful... Did DH manage to organize it all himself?? I usually end up having to sort things out here, loses something in the romance stakes!! Currently trying to sew seeds about train trips across Canada for ours...he would like to go to Everest base camp, but it lacks 5star comfort for me!!
Like you Lola have just finished reading thread one..loved all the info on military life, it has also made me ready to revisit the series so watch along is happening at the right time! There was some intense evaluations going on...congratulations to ice richtea ,ilove and whaj* (sorry if i've missed anybody) for your dedicated commitment to the OG cause, defo above and beyond!! [Wine] Flowers

rich was reading an autobiography aboutTH yesterday, didn't realise he had been such a bad boy!!! He is quite interesting and I can see the appeal!!

woof senior school, blazers, boys and tissues - words that don' t ever go together!!! Good to have you back!!

Lola enjoy the castles.. Hope the weather is good!!

pixieg1rl · 04/09/2015 13:58

klj is one of the first thread posters kelly

I've read through all of threads 1 & 2 (as well as quite a bit of 6,7 and 8) and I'm getting quite excited about the watch along - I don't think I've actually watched OG for about 6 months and I'm really holding back from watching them now. Roll on the 20th!

icemistOBE · 04/09/2015 14:31

I'm ridiculously excited for 20th!!

I'm working my way through the old threads. Can't believe it was nearly a year ago!

Hope some more '1st thread' members pop in to say hello Smile

cjwoofwoof · 04/09/2015 14:34
