Corrie Thread - you know it is bad when the best storyline is about a dog

Time to start a new thread. Hopefully by the time this one has finished there will have been a terrible disaster and half the current cast will have disappeared.

At least Jazz-hands-Andrea is on her way out. I'd be grateful if she would take a coach-load with her.

Mollie, you do have a point. You meet eccentric people in RL that compared to the eccentrics in corrie seem well...introverted. Hehe

Clawdy · 31/08/2015 09:53

Yes, Mary's become a caricature, like a character from "Last of the Summer Wine" in its closing stages.

AngelicaDelight · 31/08/2015 10:04

What happened to the police investigation into Andy's theft of Nick's Bistro takings? That really annoyed me as in real life he'd NEVER have got away with it...

AsTimeGoesBy · 31/08/2015 10:06

I would say Mary has been a caricature for most of her time on the Street, with just a few spells of being more human and likeable. They could have made so much more of her character, but she's been wasted.

southeastdweller · 31/08/2015 10:17

Six episodes again this week. It's being stretched too thinly - the writing and some of the acting just isn't up to it at the moment.

Rachel0Greep · 31/08/2015 12:03

I find Mary quite irritating, I think a lot of it is down to poor scriptwriting. I agree that they could have made her into a much better character.
They should stop this extra episode thing, it's suffering even more as a result of being stretched so much.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 31/08/2015 14:05

Agree with it being stretched too thinly and beyond the writers' capabilities. Maybe they should go back to two episodes a week until they work out a plan.

Fiz is a hopeless actress and is not a sympathetic character. I am totally dreading the Hope storyline.

If they cut back on the episodes they could have a decent cast cull.

Too many dramatic story-lines that fizzle out. Just read that the usual happens to Andrea.

Jo4040 · 31/08/2015 14:57

Well we all know what the usual is.

Chipstick10 · 31/08/2015 18:11

Sarah Lou is hopeless. She cannot show any real emotions. It's cringe making

BoGrainger · 31/08/2015 18:19

I really hope they are not intending Hope to die. Apart from being too harrowing for an entertainment programme, the writers aren't looking to the future, just thinking of the possible TV awards I expect (cynic). In a few years time Hope and Ruby could be a couple of 'cheeky' girls, always getting into 'scrapes' but indulged by everyone. They could fight over Liam as their 'boyfriend'. Oh, the possibilities are endless. Don't kill her off!

EachandEveryone · 31/08/2015 18:34

Will Craig do A Levels do you think? I bloody hope so.

eddiemairswife · 31/08/2015 18:43

Has Weatherfield Comp got a 6th Form? I know Todd did A Levels but not sure where, and Sophie went to college doing ? and gave up for some reason.

AsTimeGoesBy · 31/08/2015 18:52

To be honest I think the Hope storyline might be the final straw for me, this is a really serious storyline, that in days gone by they could have probably done some justice to. They just about managed with Hayley, but I don't trust them at all now and this has such potential to be majorly upsetting to many people.

WWYDinThisSituation · 31/08/2015 18:58

Apparently Christmas Day is going to be really sombre because it may be Hope's last Christmas; I read it would be "a real tear jerker".

Because that's just what you want with your Bailey's and mince pies! Awful idea.

Jo4040 · 31/08/2015 19:15

I'm actually going to turn the volume down every time Fiz, Tyrone and Hope come on. That way I can see when it's gone off and turn the volume back up for the next scene.

I don't want to feel depressed about something like that.

Saw-fee is a pain in the ass.

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 31/08/2015 19:54

I've missed the last two weeks, but caught up this morning on omnbus. Was cheered to see Callum got a blattering and that Stevens scripts have improved. Have Carla and Nick got together? Does rob know about Tracy?

Chipstick10 · 31/08/2015 19:55

And apart from anything else the actress who plays fizz just doesn't have the acting capabilities for such an important harrowing storyline IMO

mellowheart · 31/08/2015 19:55

I can't believe they're doing this depressing storyline with Fizz. It's going to be just too painful to watch. I can barely watch Fizz in normal times, I won't be able to take the crying and the wailing. She cannot act, why is she being given such a big storyline?

Chipstick10 · 31/08/2015 20:33

She can't do tears in any shape or form

BoGrainger · 31/08/2015 21:11

Just watched tonight after dipping in and out for two weeks and Rob's suspicions are ridiculous! How did he make the link between Tracey looking sorrowfully at Carla and starting the fire?? I know he's knows something's up but he's not flipping Columbo!

mollie123 · 31/08/2015 21:18

Tim (or Timothy) and Sally were the only good bits in the entire 2 episodes
in character that he would not know who Miss Haversham was Smile
the dialogues between the other poorer actors come out so clunky and with very little emotion.

millimat · 01/09/2015 22:10

Ah Tim is great - "you could wear a bin bag and still be the perfect bride".
I think the hope storyline is going to be harrowing but worth it to raise awareness.
