Corrie Thread - you know it is bad when the best storyline is about a dog

Time to start a new thread. Hopefully by the time this one has finished there will have been a terrible disaster and half the current cast will have disappeared.

At least Jazz-hands-Andrea is on her way out. I'd be grateful if she would take a coach-load with her.

Hate all theHope stuff, its too sad to watch a little 5 year old have to go through that (I know its not REAL) My DS is 5 Sad

MrsUltracrepidarian · 02/09/2015 18:02

he's not flipping Columbo! Grin
I know this is selfish, and hate to be a 'taker' but if we could just have an alert on this thread to indicate episodes where there are Sally & Tim scenes, won't bother with the others Grin

Rachel0Greep · 02/09/2015 18:59

Just watched tonight after dipping in and out for two weeks and Rob's suspicions are ridiculous! How did he make the link between Tracey looking sorrowfully at Carla and starting the fire?? I know he's knows something's up but he's not flipping Columbo!

It's that hair, it gives him magic powers Grin.
Agree, absolutely ridiculous. Just like that, he deduces that Tracy had something to do with the fire. Hmm

Jo4040 · 02/09/2015 20:46

It's not appropriate for me right now to watch these scenes with Hope so I'm muting them when they come on.

I don't know how everyone else is going to watch it. They have gone to far with this IMO. I'm thinking of stopping watching corrie all together now until its over, but I have heard its going on even past Christmas.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 02/09/2015 22:12

The thing is I don't think these storylines on Corrie raise awareness because they are so badly written.

It is going to be like the Hayley storyline all over again, with mawkishness laid on with a trowel. By the end (actually after about 2 weeks) I was just willing her to die quickly.

Just looking at Fizz's gormless face tonight I was hoping for a bomb at the community vetre.

community centre, not vetre!

The Hayley story felt a bit overlong, but the two actors who played her and Roy made that story worth watching. Sadly, for the Hope story, the actress who plays Fizz has never been strong and is out of her depth when there's any dramatic scenes. I didn't feel any emotion at all in the final scene tonight when the doctor told Fizz the bad news.

eddiemairswife · 02/09/2015 22:34

As it wasn't necessary for Hope to be at the hospital I didn't understand why she couldn't attend her first day at school. At least they managed to get the other children to the right schools on the right day, though Ken wasn't around this morning, and Aldi and Asda seem to have spent the whole Summer on a sleep-over.

mellowheart · 02/09/2015 22:38

I really believe Corries going to lose a lot of viewers with this painfully distressing storyline. Not just because of the upsetting scenes but also because of Fizz and her terrible acting. I can just about bear her when she's happy, but not with something like this where she's going to be doing lots of crying. She's going to be unbearable to watch. I can still remember her childbirth scenes, the worst I've ever seen.
I agree with you Anne, the gormless face tonight was too much to take.

Rhinosaurus · 02/09/2015 22:58

I hate their health related story lines - they always rush through them, like Max and his ADHD, one visit to the GP, a home visit from someone and he was diagnosed.... Unlike real life, the months of waiting to be seen, parents having to do parenting programmes etc........

And agreed, Fizz is going to be nigh on unbearable to watch...

Rachel0Greep · 03/09/2015 01:07

Completely agree, plus I actually think it's exploitation of things that must be very distressing for those who have experienced them, for real. There is no sensitivity, IMO, just a rush to deal with issues, left, right and centre, with what certainly looks like zero research into what these things must be like, in RL.

Just looking at Fizz's gormless face tonight I was hoping for a bomb at the community centre

Skipped tonight, but can just imagine.
Don't even let me get started on what can be accommodated in the centre, it used to be, I said, it used to be Fred's shop...

+1. Fizz is not capable enough, or should I say, Jenny McAlpine is not capable of carrying such a storyline.

SavoyCabbage · 03/09/2015 05:51

Ope isn't going to die at Christmas is she??? I mean, nobody has died of cancer at Christmas since Hayley so maybe she will.

The whole Wiggy/Ward War is a complete rehash of the Rob/Peter carry on. It's the exact same story line. Just with a wig.

I loved it when Gail told Sally she had got one of her wedding dresses from that shop. Not that that one line was worth sitting through Fiz's gurning.

She used to be good. Remember when she had the matching leather jacket to Kirk? Him and Tyrone both wanted to marry her and she was up in a flat and they were on the street proposing.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 03/09/2015 06:22

It's so bad I'm even wishing for. Rita / Emily Bishop story .

mollie123 · 03/09/2015 06:56

didn't Fizz just return from maternity leave - I was surprised she is able to do the storyline about a sick child - and agree she cannot act well enough to carry it off.

Maisieknew · 03/09/2015 07:08

Problem is, it's 'ooh, Tyrone and Fiz haven't been in it fo a while. They need a Big Storyline.'

But something real would have been better.

In a few years, with both girls having violent criminals for parents, the possibilities would be endless! But Tyrone/Fiz were rarely off our screens in 2013 so now they are back. Sigh. The only good news is the Platts will undoubtedly be given a break soon.

Jo4040 · 03/09/2015 07:16

Masie...don't think the Platts will be off our screens...have you seen that advert with David Platt running around the street? Lol

SymphonyofShadows · 03/09/2015 13:55

I'm back from a fortnight away and I've finally caught up. The Hope thing is grim and unnecessary and I agree about 'Fiz' not having the acting skills to pull it off. Why are they stealing ideas wholesale from Friends too - Sally getting stuck in her dress and the bromance bracelet? Do they really think that our memories are that short?

Rachel0Greep · 03/09/2015 15:16

Yes, I agree re the stealing of stories from Friends. We have also had Gary / Ross bring the picnic into Alya / Rachel's workplace. I had read about the bracelet story, and thought it so ridiculous. What next, Kevin / Chandler will lose the bracelet, and have to buy another one...
I didn't even bother watching last night.

ellenanora5 · 03/09/2015 17:58

I'm only watching for Tim and Sally, they are great together Grin the rest is rubbish, I just ff anytime Fizz comes on screen, I don't think this storyline with Hope is going to go down well, when Emmerdale did a similar story with Debbie and Sarah it was a million times better thought out and portrayed on screen.

WanderingLily · 03/09/2015 20:09

If you were going to rip someone's credit card off, you'd do it aloud in the middle of a pub where everyone knows you and the cardholder, yes?

ellenanora5 · 03/09/2015 20:19

Absolutely WanderingLily, but only if the owner of the cards' ex girlfriend was serving me a drink at the same time, just to be extra sure everyone knew what I was doing Grin

They really think none of us pay attention, don't they Hmm

eddiemairswife · 03/09/2015 22:32

Why on earth was Andrea at Kev's party? The backyards seem to have had a make-over. I thought Tracy's was a lot brighter yesterday, and Fiz's was today. The walls between the houses look lower than they used to be.

southeastdweller · 03/09/2015 22:35

I may swerve the Christmas episodes for the first time - I've no interest in seeing scenes involving Fizz handwringing about Hope's potential last Christmas.

AngelicaDelight · 04/09/2015 05:05

I love Tim! What a great job they have done in turning his character around - he was NOTHING like he is now when he first arrived.
