Corrie Thread - you know it is bad when the best storyline is about a dog

Time to start a new thread. Hopefully by the time this one has finished there will have been a terrible disaster and half the current cast will have disappeared.

At least Jazz-hands-Andrea is on her way out. I'd be grateful if she would take a coach-load with her.

Ah I understand now - they needed to fit a CAMERA down the manhole!

DiamondoInTheSky · 26/09/2015 05:44

I don't see why people are getting annoyed with Lloyd and Andrea still being there. Simon Gregson went on long-term sick leave two weeks ago. But it would have been totally implausible that L&A would have disappeared without saying goodbye to him. Friday's episodes were filmed about 6 weeks ago so they could have a proper farewell. I think people being peeved just don't know about the actor who plays Steve.

HellKitty · 26/09/2015 06:12

Carla DOES have a lot of clothes from AllSaints! I tend to watch on catch up and was mortified last year when I'd been wearing one of her outfits (black t with silver writing) with black skinnies and boots the day after she had!

Jo4040 · 26/09/2015 07:08

I think that they are going to have to come clean to Tony and Jason

ProfYaffle · 26/09/2015 07:10

I liked Steve and Lloyd saying goodbye, given Simon Gregson's illness it seemed a shame to miss a proper goodbye in the live episode. I did wonder how it was all done, was he always meant to miss Lloyd in the live episode and last night's was planned and filmed in advance, or were some of last night's scenes taken from back up filming from the live episode?

ProfYaffle · 26/09/2015 07:12

Just had a bit of a google, he asked not to be in the live episode so his absence was planned.

AsTimeGoesBy · 26/09/2015 07:13

It's the other way round Diamond, as Lloyd and Andrea's actual leaving scenes with Steve were already filmed and scheduled for Friday they should have not made such a huge thing of them leaving in the live episode. Party in the Rovers was ok, but the being waved off in a balloon decorated car honeymoon style when thru were going to be back on screen in the next episodes was really odd.

Clawdy · 26/09/2015 12:20

Missed last night's,the preview said the Platts are terrorised - by whom?

AnneEyhtMeyer · 26/09/2015 17:39

Exactly what AsTimeGoesBy said.

Simon Gregson was never going to be in the live episode, so the live episode shouldn't have been all about Lloyd's exit. If it had to be about Lloyd's exit, then the Lloyd & Steve big farewell day should have been the episode before the live one. It would also have made more sense that Steve didn't want to go to the party because he felt he had said his goodbyes and didn't want the sadness of the party.

Sadly, the scriptwriters are crap at the moment, so don't look at things in a realistic way.

I don't have a problem with the party thing, actually always find it a bit bizarre when they have big party, get trashed, the just hop off in a taxi with 1 suitcase as moving away takes much more planning. Its like the hen parties and stag nights the night before the wedding, nobody does that really do they?

Rachel0Greep · 27/09/2015 12:20

I missed how Lloyd and Andrea reappeared, because I only saw the second episode. I'm glad though that Steve and Lloyd did a proper goodbye.
I didn't think you could move to Jersey, just like that. I thought it was quite restrictive, but I could be wrong. Just something I have in my head, from years ago, about having to meet some particular criteria.

On a different note, I wish Callum's body had been in the boot of the car, and blown up. The thought of him being under the house is horrible. And surely there will be a smell, in a while. Hmm

southeastdweller · 28/09/2015 07:29

The only episodes this week are tonight and Wednesday, due to the rugby.

scaevola · 28/09/2015 07:34

"I didn't think you could move to Jersey, just like that."

You can, up to a point. it does work in this case as she is going to work in a hotel, but they usually import workers for the summer season, not as it closes. Hotels often have a number of staff who have temporary (job-dependant) right to reside. But that's really only meant to be for roles for which they have been unable to recruit locally.

Some jobs give you immediate rights to something akin to permanent residency (which becomes permanent after a few years). That's for important year-round roles for which they cannot recruit locally, often doctors.

Rachel0Greep · 28/09/2015 08:31

Yes, I was wondering though about Lloyd moving there, especially as he made up his mind in ten seconds flat.

DiamondoInTheSky · 28/09/2015 16:36

Well I never knew that

DiamondoInTheSky · 28/09/2015 16:36

And yes I see your point about their leaving do now! :)

LineyReborn · 28/09/2015 19:46

I honestly started getting anxious about Roy's holding onto that egg and chips for so long, yacking on to Cathy and Anna. I thought the yolks would go hard. Surely Roy's standards can't be slipping?

southeastdweller · 28/09/2015 21:25

I can't speak enough about David Neilson and Melanie Hill as Roy and Cathy. It's such a pleasure seeing two highly skilled actors in Corrie doing what they do so well.

eddiemairswife · 28/09/2015 22:27

No mention of Lily again. It was early evening , Max came home from his friend's, Gail is in Milan, David and Kylie otherwise engaged. It reminds me of a running joke in the Archers from years ago, when Tom Forrest's wife, Pru, was often mentioned but never heard until she gave a kind of moan on her deathbed.

HellKitty · 28/09/2015 22:54

YY to Roy's eggs! I was almost shouting, 'take it to the fucking table before they all congeal or get Anna to take them!'

I think I invest too much in Corrie.

HirplesWithHaggis · 29/09/2015 00:32

I was more concerned with how often Anna's ponytail swished over said eggs. Angry

KenDoddsDadsDog · 29/09/2015 05:52

I love Roy and Cathy . The one bit of great acting .
Anna is so annoying , hope they get rid of her .

AnguaResurgam · 29/09/2015 07:14

Callum never struck me as the filial type, so I'm surprised his mother was that worried that early on. And Gemma was appalling as ever (feel very sorry for the actor that the part has turned out to be such an implausible one).

Roy/Cathy is just far too soon but it is being well executed - especially Cathy (first seen with zero problems on a allotment in summer) carrying off a line about her crippling hayfever.

David and Kylie are vastly improved, and far more watchable than they have been in ages. Sarah is however not convincing.

Rachel0Greep · 29/09/2015 08:29

+1.

Mindysgotswag · 29/09/2015 08:43

Big thumbs up to David Neilson and Melanie Hill! 2 of the finest actors in Corrie although sarah-Lou did a mighty fine job in the live episode!

Just a thought - maybe lily's grown up and is upstairs playing her tapes a la dozy wobster, Tracey et al?Grin
