Corrie Thread - you know it is bad when the best storyline is about a dog

Time to start a new thread. Hopefully by the time this one has finished there will have been a terrible disaster and half the current cast will have disappeared.

At least Jazz-hands-Andrea is on her way out. I'd be grateful if she would take a coach-load with her.

I am actually back to enjoying the Street again. Roy and Cathy are a delight and I am surprised to find myself enjoying the black humour of the Callum story. I think it has been good to see David return to his devious side but with the twist that this time he is trying to protect his family, Kylie's veneer of hardness is being tested to the max and I think Sarah is doing a convincing job of falling to bits (which I think most of us would do).

I was also pleased to see the revival of Sally and Rita's friendship as the two used to be very close.

The scenes with Lloyd and Steve were great, both these two characters will be greatly missed and I hope they are reunited. When Eileen joined them it just completed the circle, I love Eileen when she is snippy and bossy.

hildasmuriel · 29/09/2015 10:29

The Gail going off to Milan was a bit of nonsense though, in reality she would be more likely to go and stay with her Mum.

eddiemairswife · 29/09/2015 11:38

What about Gail's cleaning jobs at the Bistro and Gym? Perhaps Fat Brenda can take them over temporarily. Does Anna still clean at the Rover's? Tyrone seemed to be doing a lot of lurking yesterday at Roy's and the pub. Shouldn't he have been at home helping Fizz with 'the girls'? Unless 'the girls' have joined Lily upstairs .

Pyjamaramadrama · 29/09/2015 11:44

It's definitely improved, ridiculous that Lilly was nowhere to be seen when it would have been her bedtime.

Listmaker · 29/09/2015 12:04

Yes last couple of episodes have been a lot better. Think David is doing really well and Kylie and even Sarah!

Yes Roy and Cathy are great. Just a bit worried that Melanie Hill isn't going to want to stick around in Corrie for years and years so they will have to break them up at some point :(.

And yes unlikely that Callum would have such a nice caring Mum and end up as he did.

HellKitty · 29/09/2015 12:18

I'm worried about Melanie Hill wanting to leave too. Hopefully she wants this job for life!

Rachel0Greep · 29/09/2015 15:00

I liked when Tyrone called in to give Roy the encouragement that he needed. Tyrone is a kind hearted guy. If it was Fizz, she would be fussing, and putting on that voice she acquires, when speaking to Roy.

I agree, I have enjoyed the episodes, over the last week, starting with the live episode, which was much better than I expected it to be. I wish Callum's body had been in the car, when Tony drove it away. I don't like the thought of him being under the Platts house. I hope that ridiculous Gemma / Vicky Pollard, isn't going to take over where Callum left off, barging in the door whenever she pleases.

Jo4040 · 29/09/2015 17:59

Why hav'nt they mentioned once that they are worried that they could start to smell the body?!

Everything else A* up to yet

PooSweats84 · 29/09/2015 18:31

That would have been so much better, Tony unknowingly driving off with Callum in the boot, blowing up the car and disposing of the body at the same time, job done! Now the whole cover up storyline will drag out for months on end instead!

southeastdweller · 29/09/2015 18:48

I hope it doesn't drag on for too long like the similar story in Brookside with Trevor Jordache.

ProfYaffle · 29/09/2015 18:49

Yy, we all said the same about it being a shame Callum wasn't in the boot.

Rachel0Greep · 30/09/2015 13:55

It would have been a far better, dramatic end to the story, and the story of the aftermath, and the effects on the Platts could still play out. Now it will be dragged out, forever, and ugh, just the thought of them having to dig him back up Hmm.

HellKitty · 30/09/2015 14:15

Agreed BUT if they'd called the police in the first place they wouldn't be going through all this. A known crim harassing them and attacking Sarah who is then protected with reasonable force by a Kylie wielding a claw hammer the builders had left. Hardly premeditated.

I swear I think too much! Wondering if the body will be found when the actress who plays Kylie wants time off for another baby!

MaisieDotes · 30/09/2015 17:08

I thought the goodbye scenes between Steve and Lloyd were ultra-tedious. Not to mention Andrea doing her "ooh what are they like?" act while waiting at the bar.

Evil David is my favourite right now.

eddiemairswife · 30/09/2015 22:32

I know Hope is ill, but shouldn't she be at school when she is well enough? She missed the first day, because Fizz took her(unnecessarily) to hospital. Has she actually been there yet?

theliverpoolone · 30/09/2015 22:53

I wonder which wedding dress Sally's planning to wear on Monday - didn't the last one get ripped by Kevin trying to yank the zip? Grin

Lovely family teatime scene at the Platt's - David, Kylie, Max ...and .... empty chair Confused. So poor Lily isn't even there for mealtimes.

Pyjamaramadrama · 01/10/2015 00:48

We said the same thing about Lilly, that baby spends so much time in bed.

I'm not enjoying Tim being nasty to Sally.

Jo4040 · 01/10/2015 09:36

BUT WON'T THEY BE ABLE TO SMELL THE BIDY SOON?!Shock

Pleasssse can someone answer that question. It's really bugging me! Or because its cikd down there will it keep it refrigerated?!

Jo4040 · 01/10/2015 09:36

BODY*Shock

AnguaResurgam · 01/10/2015 09:45

Tyrone mentioned something about a staggered start for Hope, but as it was only by a week or so I'd have thought she should be going by now.

If they're going to keep her off, they could defer her until January (she turns 5 in December). If she becomes too ill to attend regularly, then they'd need to make an individual exceptional arrangement. Maybe they'll get round to talking about this on-screen.

If the concrete seal is air-tight, then presumably Callum can get as stinky as he likes and it won't permeate. But if he gets gassy/bloated, could there be enough pressure for the concrete to collapse? And then Gail can end up in her manhole too.

I like seeing David back to competent. Where was Kylie when she sent that text to Gemma from Callum's phone? Unless she went away from the Street (ideally to somewhere like the railway station, from which anyone could go anywhere) it's left another clue.

theliverpoolone · 01/10/2015 09:48

I think Sally's overdue a bit of a hard time from Tim. She's been so condescending and mean to him at times, and he's been so laid back and accepting of it - I like seeing him turning the tables on her a bit. And at least this storyline proves the scriptwriters aren't going to try getting her back with Kevin - hopefully.

MaisieDotes · 01/10/2015 10:08

angua Kylie was only around the corner when she sent the text. I thought that too, it would have been an opportunity to place Callum elsewhere. But no.

LineyReborn · 01/10/2015 10:15

Callum doesn't smell yet because the drain cover is concreted over, as Angua says.

Presumably it's airtight till someone digs it up or a tram crashes into or there's an explosion, as oft happens in the Street.

Jo4040 · 01/10/2015 12:01

Ooo OK. Yeah. I can rest now.

Does this mean one day David is going to leave?! I hope not. I heard that he wants to stay until the day he retires. A bit like the actor who plays Ken. Kylie tho I think will be ready to move on soon.

SymphonyofShadows · 01/10/2015 14:25

I don't think it can be airtight as they said it was part of the old factory drainage, so I assume there must be other pipes off of it. If not, it's badly researched.

Do we think that Tim is going to turn up on Monday to get married at the last minute or not?
