Corrie Thread - you know it is bad when the best storyline is about a dog

Time to start a new thread. Hopefully by the time this one has finished there will have been a terrible disaster and half the current cast will have disappeared.

At least Jazz-hands-Andrea is on her way out. I'd be grateful if she would take a coach-load with her.

Did anyone spot the marriage proposal on the blackboard in the Rovers?

The answer was..."yes"!Smile

SlatternLikesToRest · 23/09/2015 22:46

I wasn't expecting much, but all in all a pretty decent episode.

As mentioned by a PP it does annoy me in soap land that they never go to the police with the perfectly plausible sequence of events and instead lose all common sene and start hiding bodies.

I hope this doesn't get dragged out too long.

Roygrace · 23/09/2015 22:51

Steve is seeing Michelle?? In real life I hope not

Rachel0Greep · 23/09/2015 23:01

It was better than I expected. I liked how they revisted Steve's depression story and was quite moved when Liz talked about it to Lloyd. Possibly the writer and actors knew they had to up their game in light of the criticism this year. Hopefully we won't see Tim in Anna's bed in the next episode.

Once again, agreed, southeast. I think it showed what the cast, and the writers, actually can do. That moment with Liz talking about Steve really rang true.
I liked the fact that, throughout, there was a slight 'air' of excitement, somehow. I guess that is the edge that comes with doing a live episode. Honestly, they should do them more often, if possible. I've no doubt it's challenging, but most of them were well up to it. I loved that we got a glimpse of the (old) tough side of David, where has that been, for far too long! Kylie was brilliant, as expected.

Please no, no, no to Tim and Anna! No!

Marbleslostthem · 23/09/2015 23:10

It's on catch up now

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 23/09/2015 23:27

I was really impressed too.

Sarah-Lou, Kylie and David all did a great job.

Well done Corrie, now let's get back to where it used to be.

Redglitter · 24/09/2015 00:19

The rumour about Kym and Simon was apparantly something she said in an interview was surprise surprise taken the wrong way. She's said quite catagorically they're not

BoGrainger · 24/09/2015 07:36

I enjoyed the itv2 after event programme. The cast seemed like a fun bunch to work with. I got the impression that working towards the live show was an enjoyable experience for all involved. It's taken a year to put together which is probably why everything else has been so dire! Agree that the Platt household acting was spot on. Hope Tina O'Brien gets a nomination at least at the awards. It just shows how hidden some people's talents are if they don't get anything juicy to work on.

AnguaResurgam · 24/09/2015 07:46

I wasn't hugely impressed with it, tbh. It was too silly and superficial. The implausibility of Sarah luring Callum there in the first place flawed it from the outset, and the general pace was wrong - too dragged out, at the expense of events after the blow.

Having LLoyd's leaving party without Steve was a bad decision (nothing to do with his illness, btw, he wasn't in this episode from the off). Cathy/Roy was well executed, but again a poor plot choice - it's far too soon.

But I did enjoy seeing how well a number of the actors scrubbed up for the Orient Express party (and of course the theme of that murder was 'they all did it')

katienana · 24/09/2015 08:01

I thought it was great, full of action, lots of emotion and really good acting from the main players. The Sarah callum fight had me on the edge of my seat it looked so real! Well done corrie I wasn't expecting much but it just goes to show how easily it can be brilliant again.

Mindysgotswag · 24/09/2015 09:59

Loved how sarah-lou's hair went everywhere and she seemed properly terrified!

I nominate myself to brave the manhole and give callum breakfast in bedWinkWink.

PennyHasNoSurname · 24/09/2015 10:05

Id love if they got Tony involved and he brought a load of concrete to pour into the manhole and just as it starts pouring down you see Callums eye flicker open then bam! Concreted over alive.

PennyHasNoSurname · 24/09/2015 10:07

Also, the fact that Gemma brought him his passport and knew he planned to flee will buy them a significant amount of time.

I do wish they had just called the Police and claimed (correctly) self defence.

Mindysgotswag · 24/09/2015 10:11

yawn. Just reviving old Corrie storylines.

Remember Doug? Didn't he go in the same way?

CherylTunt · 24/09/2015 11:19

Yeah WTF Sarah and Kylie - just call the police - known drug dealer and ne'er-do-well known to be harassing the family found by Kylie assaulting Sarah, pretty open-and-shut case surely?

I feel bad for Lloyd shackled to horrid Andrea Sad I know he's leaving to do more Red Dwarf which I love but which should have been laid to rest after series 6 but a better exit IMO would have been if he discovered she was lying about being pregnant, and, heartbroken, decided to leave Weatherfield to find inner peace as a trawler crewman Grin

Super pissed off at Tim going to Anna's Angry NOOOOOOOO.

jonicomelately · 24/09/2015 11:58

PennyHasNoSurname You have a dark imagination. I like it

Brilliant episode. The acting was astonishingly good.

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 24/09/2015 12:40

How much of a knob did Shane Ward look in that hat on the spin off show?
Grin

Listmaker · 24/09/2015 14:40

Just watched it on catch up and agree that it was really not bad at all and exceeded expectations! Tina O'Brien was a revelation - so much better than usual! And David and Kylie, Roy and Cathy were great too.

Surely he'll stink a bit under that floor soon if they don't seal it up properly!

I really hope we don't end up with a prolonged murder enquiry! And yes why does no one in TV land ever just phone the police when someone gets killed by accident or in self-defence?!

And agree - please no Anna and Tim...

Clawdy · 24/09/2015 15:09

It would have been more fun if we weren't sure if Callum

was really dead. Or if we weren't sure who actually did it. Some of those scenes where they were lugging the body bag around just looked ludicrous.

PennyHasNoSurname · 24/09/2015 16:03

I think all in all the guy who playsed Callum was a good actor. He had that whole Manchester Skinny Shitbag vibe down to a T.

I hope he goes on to act in other things and does well for himself.

elbowsdontsing2 · 24/09/2015 18:04

sarah looked terrified and the way callum was pulling at her hair,no wonder she was crying all the way through i bet her head was sour.i laughed when they went to put the body in the car and tony drove off in it.

elbowsdontsing2 · 24/09/2015 18:04

sore not sour

MaisieDotes · 24/09/2015 18:28

I really enjoyed it. I found the scenes between Sarah and Callum quite upsetting though Blush Then again I am pregnant so cry at the drop of a hat these days.

I thought the scenes with Roy and Carla were lovely.

southeastdweller · 24/09/2015 21:22

I'm actually really looking forward to the next episode, for the first time in months.

Housemum · 25/09/2015 00:05

David leaving the car running annoyed me - not just the risk of theft, but drawing attention, anyone passing would look at it.

And he know that tony is a bit dodgy and wants to get Callum, why didn't he actually get him to help?
