Corrie Thread - you know it is bad when the best storyline is about a dog

Time to start a new thread. Hopefully by the time this one has finished there will have been a terrible disaster and half the current cast will have disappeared.

At least Jazz-hands-Andrea is on her way out. I'd be grateful if she would take a coach-load with her.

I don't like Robert either. And how come, in the entire time that the Bistro has been open the chef and kitchen staff were never even seen, yet now that the chef is Robert he is constantly prancing round front of house?

BoGrainger · 09/09/2015 21:07

Neither Simon nor Leanne mentioned anything about missing school! Shock

EachandEveryone · 09/09/2015 21:26

Who rang the police?

InQuiteAPickle · 09/09/2015 21:31

I wonder if Leanne will get fined for taking Simon out of school in term time? Hmm

eddiemairswife · 09/09/2015 22:31

I think Robert told the police. Perhaps, while Simon is in Portsmouth, he can have acting lessons.

southeastdweller · 09/09/2015 22:33

Peter is in Antigua, isn't he? Must be doing really well to afford flights for Simon...

AsTimeGoesBy · 09/09/2015 23:06

Amy reminds me of Wednesday Addams.

Glad I wasn't the only one confused by Simon being stashed in a wardrobe.

PunkrockerGirl · 10/09/2015 06:26

Hopefully Simon will come back with a new head.

AnguaResurgam · 10/09/2015 07:15

If Wetherfield is covered by the Manchester LEA, then yes, he'll be fined. They seem fairly keen on it up there, if this article from the local paper is anything to go by: www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/term-time-holiday-families-greater-manchester-2499031

This thread is far more interesting than the programme Grin

southeastdweller · 10/09/2015 07:25

Despite not having kids, as soon as Leanne mentioned Simon going to see Peter, I immediately thought of school fines - clearly I spend too much time on here Grin

I am really bothered by times in Corrie. I first noticed it in the fire episode when Kevin was leaving the pub and everyone was saying 'oh stay for another drink, it's too early to go home' while Carla was tucked up asleep (on the sofa in her two-bedroom flat, but that's another discussion). Once you've noticed it you can't not see it!

Also basic continuity like people opening doors then when we go back to that scene the door is closed. There are loads of mistakes like that. When Miley (who is indeed about two weeks old) was leaving the granny shut the boot of the car and said 'oh I think we've got everything' then after the ads they were back to putting bags in the boot.
It never used to be like that - it's rubbish.

AsTimeGoesBy · 10/09/2015 08:06

Yes, quite often they go to the pub after work and when they come out it's still broad daylight even in the middle of winter.

Jo4040 · 10/09/2015 08:16

Iv watched it where someone has their hair in one style.. For example their fringe straightened.. Then after the break...or when they go back to them...their fringe has been a bit different.

maresedotes · 10/09/2015 09:12

Agree with the poster about Tim's comment about Miley enjoying chocolate mousse. Also how would the authorities not get involved with a baby being given to a family? No counselling offered etc. Still bugs me!

Why has no-one ever mentioned the Platts' garage and how can they afford the conversion? None of them earn a fortune and Gail seems to have forgotten she works at the bistro. Speaking of Gail, why has she never mentioned Nick going out with Carla? She interferes in all his relationships but is ok with this one?

I didn't watch last night's episode so maybe all my questions have been answered. I need to get out more.

AnguaResurgam · 10/09/2015 09:24

Miley was born at the start of April, so is just over 5 months old. So it would be early, but not outrageous, if she was having some first tastes of foods other than milk. But she really shouldn't be having chocolate that young.

I hope they're not gearing up for an international custody battle. That would be an even bigger turn off than any suggestion of putting Ken and Audrey together.

Jo4040 · 10/09/2015 09:30

Tim and Anna are well gona get it on

mellowheart · 10/09/2015 09:43

That's what I'm thinking Jo, and that just shows how totally clueless the scriptwriters are.

RainbowCake · 10/09/2015 10:01

We never saw any court order type thing about custody of Miley did we? So if only Faye is on the birth certificate wouldn't that be classed as an abduction?

I think Michelle might have called the police as she is a stroppy interfering bag who thinks her way is the only way.

AnguaResurgam · 10/09/2015 10:57

I think registering the birth was mentioned in a previous thread, as it was poorly written. Pretty much on the 42nd day after Miley's birth, his paternal grandparents mentioned putting the father on the birth certificate. Now, in addition playing fast and loose with the legal timelines for when a birth should be registered, they didn't show or mention the actual registration. But it's likely the father was on it. And so both parents would have PR, and Miley lives with one of them. I don't remember Faye having any contact with Miley since she moved out, though Anna and Tim have mentioned her and we've seen her spending time with Tim.

The paternal family didn't seek permission to move the child abroad permanently, but there's no reason they could not have got a passport and travelled with her.

SymphonyofShadows · 10/09/2015 11:36

I wondered about the legality of it. Surely though, with both parents being minors, there must have to have been some social services intervention about the change in who cares for Miley?

SheldonsSpotOnTheCouch · 10/09/2015 14:31

Is Alya pregnant? She said it was negative but wasn't convincing and the sickness and constant crying said otherwise. What's going on with that? Why start a story and mot finish it?

I desperately don't want Tom and Anna to get together.

I notice Bethany's looking a bit more schoolgirl like - less makeup etc.

And yes, what's with the Friends rip offs? The bracelet thing was just weird.

augustusglupe · 10/09/2015 15:03

Carla is stunning!! But by now, with the amount of alcohol she's consuming, she would look at least a bit rough!! It just all seems so ridiculous!! And suddenly she's given up a gambling addiction!! Just like that!?
Puts me in mind of Tina. 'Oh Tina love you do look tired', when she didn't at all!! She looked bloody fantastic! New jacket, top etc....and she was meant to be skint!!

squoosh · 10/09/2015 15:07

Speaking of Tina I saw pictures of her the other day and she's clearly been spending time at her local cosmetic surgery clinic.

AsTimeGoesBy · 10/09/2015 17:00

Carla would be more stunning without the eyebrows, they look good when she's got a full face of make-up on but very painted on when she's supposedly just got out of bed or whatever, when she was at the flat in her dressing gown with Michelle last night they looked startlingly fake.

HirplesWithHaggis · 10/09/2015 20:41

How cute was Ruby blowing out her candles? Loved the way she copied Roy's body language, completely unselfconscious.
