Corrie Thread - you know it is bad when the best storyline is about a dog

Time to start a new thread. Hopefully by the time this one has finished there will have been a terrible disaster and half the current cast will have disappeared.

At least Jazz-hands-Andrea is on her way out. I'd be grateful if she would take a coach-load with her.

Argh Fiz having a go at Tyrone, can't watch.

ProfYaffle · 04/09/2015 16:29

I know I'm not saying anything new but I'm really struggling to get interested atm. We 'watched' 2 episodes last night, everyone was chatting and wandering about, nothing grabbed our attention, the kids were bored, I didn't yell at anyone to 'shut up and let me listen' Confused It's just so dull. I've even missed a few episodes recently and not bothered to catch up, that's unheard of for me.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 04/09/2015 19:34

Turned on , saw Fiz's face saying "tempriture" and turned over.

EachandEveryone · 04/09/2015 21:04

What's going to happen with Simon?

EdithWeston · 04/09/2015 21:20

I fell asleep during tonight's. Did I miss anything?

What is it with 'cute' child actors? They grow up and can't act ...... Chesney and Simon.

Rachel0Greep · 04/09/2015 22:55

Completely agree eddie. Chesney was a dote, as a child, but that was it.

I never liked Simon. I remember watching some soap award show, he didn't win, in his category, although nominated, and he just looked like an absolute brat when the camera focused on him.
I know he was just a kid, at the time, but I remember thinking Hmm

Pyjamaramadrama · 05/09/2015 03:12

I pretty much just fast forward through Fiz and Tyrone scenes.

I actually think that they are awful together as a couple.

swimmerforlife · 05/09/2015 06:26

Cannot take much more of Fiz and Tyrone. I want light relief telly at Xmas day, not watching a four year old die. Not to mention the atrocious acting.

At least the actress who plays Leanne is decent.

I did lol at Mary pretending to be a paramedic Grin

mollie123 · 05/09/2015 08:00

Jane Danson is an actress who has appeared in many other programs so she is able to portray emotions even with an appalling script she has to work with
is Hope really going to die? - I was hoping she would be saved by treatment. This is a very inappropriate storyline for the parents who are really going through this trauma and at this time of the year as well.

could not really understand why Beth was so upset and mouthy about Hope in the workplace - what is her relationship to Fiz and Tyrone? have I missed a familial connection?
thank goodness for Tim and Sally and even Gail (for her cutting remarks) am on the point of giving up on the program knowing the storylines to come.

AngelicaDelight · 05/09/2015 08:12

Beth is the aunt of Sinead the cowbag who was mean to Roy (will never forget that), who is going out with Chesney, who is Hope's uncle. I think.

What happened to the Irish guy in the hospital with Sinead? That went nowhere, didn't it?

mollie123 · 05/09/2015 08:52

lots of story lines go nowhere Shock - maybe they assume viewers are so thick they will not notice or they think it is a good idea at the time to introduce a character and then change their minds ?
understand now about Beth but it is a bit of a stretch to make her part of the immediate family
Roy and Kathy are good together although she annoyed me at first - but she also has appeared in other TV progs - that is the real problem with the soap (and dare I say many others) is that some very poor actors/actresses are given poor scripts and storylines and they are not up to getting the best out of those scripts and it all seems terribly flat and emotionless.

AnguaResurgam · 05/09/2015 09:50

"maybe they assume viewers are so thick they will not notice or they think it is a good idea at the time to introduce a character and then change their minds ?"

Interesting thought mollie and has got me wondering if they're trying to run plot lines by focus group. There is certainly too much focus on on thing, followed by another in an unsatisfying sequence; rather than the integration of multiple strands of life with stories having property growth and resolution.

I just hope that they're not doing it via monitoring threads such as this. Because all the praise for Sally/Tim will tempt them to 'do something' (like that dull stuff nicked from another programme about a bracelet) because viewers seem to like them. Whilst missing the message that we like them as they are, and don't want them fiddled with by the current bunglers.

Rachel0Greep · 05/09/2015 10:51

+1.
The ones who can act (such as David Neilson and Melanie Hill) bring something to the most mundane of scenes, because they are capable of doing so.

The ones who cannot act (too many to list), combined with the dreadful storylines, make a once great, realistic soap almost unwatchable.

mellowheart · 05/09/2015 12:23

Simon is getting worse, his acting is appalling. But my biggest gripe is Fizz, always the same blank/puzzled expression, and to have given her such a huge emotive storyline is baffling. I love Sally and Tim, if the useless writers split them two up (which wouldn't surprise me) I think I really will have to stop watching.

Rachel0Greep · 05/09/2015 13:17

I agree re Fizz. I feel nothing looking at her attempt to act what would be a nightmare to a parent, to hear such news.
The first time I felt the story was in any way 'real' was when Roy told Cathy.

I'm definitely not going to watch Corrie regularly until this story is over. I know it's another attempt at grabbing ratings, but between that and Simon hitting Leanne, I've had my share of misery.

elbowsdontsing2 · 05/09/2015 14:26

roy reading hope and ruby goldilocks , she was actually a burgler Grin Grin
cant wait for carla to go bloody fed up of the gambling story line

eddiemairswife · 05/09/2015 14:48

Next it seems that we'll definitely find out the number of bedrooms in the Platt household.

eddiemairswife · 05/09/2015 14:49

I missed out 'week' after 'next'. Sorry.

millimat · 05/09/2015 16:48

And the number of bedrooms will be around 7?!!! How do you know that?

eddiemairswife · 05/09/2015 17:43

Digital Spy.

BoGrainger · 06/09/2015 07:26

Just read the spoilers and apart from Tracey's confession to Carla nothing appeals whatsoever! And the story involving Max's school and Callum seems unrealistic to say the least.

BoGrainger · 06/09/2015 07:27

Although good news that Carla will be around for a while longer

Jo4040 · 06/09/2015 08:23

Thought she was leaving tho?!
