Quick q- do we want a separate watch-along thread?

OP posts:
Nickel45 · 30/08/2015 18:06

Oh my, I don't think I could cope with a separate thread!! Surely it'll be all we'll be talking about on here anyway? Not very tetchy, me! Sorry!

Nickel45 · 30/08/2015 18:07

Techy not tetchy .... See what I mean! Can't even cope with autocorrecting!

KellyHb · 30/08/2015 18:10

Thanks orph and mooj. Yip, it was a real treat. To top it off she bought me a lovely scarf too. Smile

I'm not sure really ice. Would it get confusing if there was separate threads? What does everyone else think?

Paintedcherryblossoms · 30/08/2015 18:13

Thanks kelly good to hear your mum is doing ok

Maybe I should make a new one for the watch along ice and he can provide a virtual running commentary.

With all the talk of cocktails and Prosecco I wonder if we should have a bespoke cocktail in honour of the watch along ....I am sure that we can come up with so many suggestions for a name if we refer back to the handbook for inspiration?

Paintedcherryblossoms · 30/08/2015 18:18

Have finished sewing name tapes and the end of my thumb now has a series of puncture holes. As a result have been sponging small blood stains off the damn things ....iron on ones next year and will use the hair straighteners idea jen like you I label everything obsessively which makes my DS roll his eyes ...he doesn't have to pay for it all though ...Confused

icemistOBE · 30/08/2015 18:41

Just an idea....

But, I did think it would be easier on here Smile

It probs would be easier in here ice, I love your above and beyond work though with everything. CJ would be proud!

Think I'm going just label DD's uniform in biro and when the boys start the week after, do theirs next weekend. I need to pin the boys school trousers tomorrow. Dreading that job.

moojangles · 30/08/2015 19:22

Shoes & trainers too. Spend forever trying to trace 'missing' trainers.
Catching up with Big Blue & horrified to find Hugh presenting, fully clothed thankfully

Richtea19 · 30/08/2015 19:50

Separate thread sounds "techy" but we will manage.

ice how annoying about the name tapes. I had to buy a suit jacket for little DS for the funeral and my head was obviously in the wrong place as I bought two sizes too small. I took it back to Marks today and bought another size and now too big. Frequent shopper to marks at the end of the weekend!

We've had a fab time up in London. We went to The Albert Hall and watched the Proms. It was the music from David Attenboroughs Live Stories. He was there!!! I had tears I my eyes before he spoke! It was amazing such an emotional evening. I don't know what's wrong with me as I can't stop crying.... Perhaps my age !

We went to a trendy pub in Fulham for drinks, plenty of "pretty CJ look alikes" but not the man him self.

icemistOBE · 30/08/2015 20:25

Another fab chapter painted

Paintedcherryblossoms · 30/08/2015 21:02

Thanks ice will try not to drag out the angst for too long before some happier news Smile

orphan · 30/08/2015 21:09

Wow richtea that sounds like a fab time! Never been to the Proms but have been to concerts at the Albert Hall and it was where i had my degree graduation ceremony actually. I'm envious of dp cos a couple of years ago he had dinner with David Attenborough and said he was a truly lovely bloke.

Imagine if you had bumped into BA. I think you'd have choked on your drink!

orphan · 30/08/2015 21:13

Just turned onto something on BBC 2 about the Special Forces. Seems to involve civilians being screamed at by burly American military blokes.

KellyHb · 30/08/2015 21:26

Wow orph. How nice for your DP to sit down with DA.

I would have loved to have met Richard Attenborough too. He seemed like a thoroughly nice chap if I say so myself. I think him and David were very close all through their lives. There was a documentary about the brothers not long after Richard died.

Sounds like a few of you have had a few nice things to go to in that there London. I wish me and DH had babysitters to watch the kids for a few days while we actually ventured outside of our house to see the outside world. Confused

The person I most envious of is you orph going to see Years and Years in concert. Plus quite a good chance BA might be there.

moojangles · 30/08/2015 21:30

Think that sums it up. DH recording it. Different Special Forces each episode I think shouting at people

orphan · 30/08/2015 21:34

I'm not really a fan tbh kelly. It's my dd who loves them. I got a ticket for her friend as well and am now thinking I might give mine to another of her friends who'd love to go and appreciate it more. I'd just be chauffeur!

Ilovelblue · 30/08/2015 21:36

What a lovely day Richtea. Glad you enjoyed it.

orphan I'm (sort of) watching that Special Forces as well. Those two Americans aren't exactly Major Morley, are they? Am presuming it's a different country's SAS type instructors each week. I think there were Israelis, Russians, Australians and our own SAS mentioned as well as the Americans - another one too but I can't remember!

pixie not sure if you are a fan of Gardener's World but Monty was complaining his tomatoes hadn't done well this year. He blamed the cool summer and low overnight temperatures. We're obviously doing something right! I have a nice recipe for tomato chutney if you are struggling for ideas how to use them up.

orphan · 30/08/2015 21:45

ilove I'm really struggling to understand why anyone would want to put themselves through this.

I think I'm going to push myself to my limit and go and have a bath and might even nibble on a posh choc bar I've got squirreled away.

moojangles · 30/08/2015 21:45

rich sounds like a lovely time

KellyHb · 30/08/2015 21:48

I've really got into their music this year orph. I know BA's a big fan and normally goes to their gigs at Brixton. Imagine if you didn't go and you missed seeing the man himself.

Hopefully they'll do some next year and I'll definitely make an effort to go.

Just read about the SAS type programme that's on. I was chuckling to myself imagining if the OG cast had to go through training a bit like that for the new series and trying to imagine MK coping with it.

Ilovelblue · 30/08/2015 21:55

Agree with you there orphan and I don't know if this is sexist or not, and I certainly believe in equal opportunities, but I don't understand that if the folk they've picked are the creme de la creme, how the women would be able to keep up with the men. How likely is it they would have the same stamina in such gruelling conditions? As the US Navy Seal guy said, they don't have women in that role in the US military.

KellyHb · 30/08/2015 22:18

Mmm, imagining CJ in the SAS being all CJ like.. Grin

There's also something about those night vision goggles they wear I love...

Was there a shot of CJ wearing his goggles in episode 4 over his face or were they just folded over his helmet? (no pun intended)

apsara03 · 30/08/2015 22:45

Evening ladies. Uniform labelling finally finished here. For some insane reason (guilt at being a working mum) i've got sew in labels so it has taken a ridiculous amount of time. But they are now done. Can't be,I've it was nearly a year ago. It!s interesting reading everyone's reason for watching it. I'd seen it mentioned in TV guide of sat paper, which I hardly ever read and has set it to record ( which I hardly ever do) DH called me through saying it had started ( probably seriously regrets it now!) as I was working in the kitchen, saw Mansfield Mike, who went to the school I used to teach and the rest as they say is history! DH also groans when he sees the Navy adds. I think he does realise that it is only age and my crap eyesight that stopped me signed up as a reservist. Still thanks to OG I've lost 10kg in a year ("stay with me" always helps when I feel about to give up in gym class). So looking forward to watch along. Prosecco primed and ready Wine Smile

KellyHb · 30/08/2015 22:50

Evening apsara Well done on the gym and fitness work.

I don't know why I bother going to the gym sometimes when I'm imagining a Sultana Danish in front of me on the treadmill or a McDonalds Breakfast but then I realise it's the joy of having £30 taken out of my account each month that keeps me going. (Damn 12 month tie in contracts)
