Did you notice Dexter Fletcher in it too? He's a good actor although not seen him in anything for a while.

Yes, it has to be said I do like my WW2 dramas. Smile Bastogne episode is my favourite. I think some of the cast try and meet up when they can. Can't believe its like 15 years old now.

Bonjour à tous les admirateurs d'un certain capitaine qui porte son pantalon de combat sur ??ses hanches... (Hope you're enjoying my dubious French)

Up early to give me enough time to say a proper adieu to my lilo ( Sorry pixie ). Just watching all the bats coming back to roost in the barn.

I loved Band of Brothers even with The Sausage in it . Actually feeling cross with myself for not bringing the dvd to watch sInce we're about to spend the next week in Normandy. Instead, I might persuade Rupert to wear some military gear and try and land me on the beach.

Rhubarb01 · 25/07/2015 06:08

Morning all! Yes it is an ungodly hour but we are on holiday and I have replaced being woken up by boisterous toddlers - bet my kids don't surface before ten at least - by being woken up by a bored, young dog at 5.30 (not a euphemism for DH) who hasn't been away on holiday before and wonders why he's not allowed upstairs to jump on the bed in the morning! He thinks it's a fine time to play chase the tennis ball around the lounge instead. I'd take him for a walk but it's raining. Oh the lovely UK in the summer holidays. Perfect beach weather. Definitely gonna get rusty rather than tanned.

I loved Band of Brothers too - got the boxset and and read the original book by Stephen Ambrose on which it is based. Personally I think it's The Sausage's finest work to date. I think I've said before I like real life accounts and this one is great. It certainly deserved it's awards.

Morning. I was up to the small hours last night, so DS got me up at 6 to play Lego. Freezing in the house, I'm tempted to put the heating on.

Last night MrP was looking for holiday let's for us and said 'do we need wifi?' I said we most definitely did.

Richtea19 · 25/07/2015 07:22

Morning all, pixie the wifi coversation has been had this week with us. We are off to Spain next Sat and our villa doesn't have wifi...... I keep saying it's the kids that won't cope but its me!! Yesterday I did an upgrade on my phone and asked about roaming, I was told for 25.00 I could have unlimited roaming whilst on holiday. A price worth paying!!!!

Off to London to the passport office and a bit of retail therapy too.

Ilovelblue · 25/07/2015 08:03

Morning all. Remind me: is it nearly August? Chucked it down last night and just been outside to find it feels more like autumn. 10 degrees!

It's going to be quiet on here with half of us away. France seems to be a popular destination for us.

I thought about you yesterday Rhubarb with the corporate buzz words. I read a poorly written email where there were at least three instances of "I reached out to him". Made me feel quite sick.

Hope the weather improves for you too. Whereabouts are you?

Richtea19 · 25/07/2015 08:37

ilove the weather is ridiculous! It poured down last night and it's freezing this morning. I'm not dressed appropriately for standing on a windy platform!

Ilovelblue · 25/07/2015 09:05

One good thing Richtea is that the shops are full of reduced summer clothes because we're just not having a summer! I picked up a lovely Phase Eight top on Thursday which had 70% off. I would never have bought it at full price.

KellyHb · 25/07/2015 09:16

Morning. Off to Sunderland Air Show today. Bags chocked full with packed lunches, coats etc in case of rain. Hope it holds off although we've got dark clouds here. Confused

We nipped down to coast last night and saw the Hurricane and Spitfire flyimg but missed the Red Arrows by half an hour or so. They're out again today.

Have a nice day everyone. Smile

Richtea19 · 25/07/2015 09:18

Once I've sorted out the passport I'm going to head to Reagent Street, get my coffee and then head to a few shops, hopefully for a sale bargain! DH was meant to come with me but declined at the last minute ( no surprise there!) I was hoping for a glass of prosecco but not quite the same when your on your own :( I will live in my fantasy world and hope to bump into BA!

Richtea19 · 25/07/2015 09:20

kellly enjoy the show. I've just booked tickets for the radio 2 Battle of Britain concert in September. Two tickets one for me and one for my dad. They will have the spitfires and hurricane flying then .

Rhubarb01 · 25/07/2015 10:04

Ilove I'm informed by DH this is the East Riding of Yorkshire! As you can see we definitely go for the weather! Near the coast so close to some lovely seaside places. I haven't been up here since I was about twelve. Weather has improved a bit - it's drier with some sunshine but a stiff wind.

We're out in the country on an estate which has Alpacas as well as a pheasant coop - never seen so many of the little things in one place before and apparently there are fawns in the grounds, kestrels nesting nearby and the chicks like to sun themselves on our window ledge, so keeping my eyes peeled - a friend of mine loves that expression and always says it reminds her or oranges for some reason!

pixieg1rl · 25/07/2015 10:10

The area around our village is used for a lot of sports shooting so the place is overrun with pheasants and partridges. They are ridiculously stupid birds.

This village is becoming a cross between Ambridge and Craggy Island.

The rain is retreating and I've heard rumours on Facebook of sunshine. I'm not taking off my woolly slippers or vest until I see it for myself.

Rhubarb01 · 25/07/2015 10:17

Yes, the pheasants didn't seem to be bothered by the sight of me and the dog last night and two of them were wandering around in a small herd of sheep as well - so intelligence may be questionable. Sadly I found three dead ones in the field as well - I'm assuming it was a fox that got them.
