I'm on the gin rhu, so anything's possible

KellyHb · 07/08/2015 20:20

I'm being good and sticking to my cider tonight. Prosecco makes me a complete lightweight I discovered. Plus I'm hoping it'll get my mind in gear for finishing this latest chapter. I think I'm only going to do a couple more and end there.

KellyHb · 07/08/2015 21:12

Oo. Next month's a good one for a couple of new series to start filming. Poldark, Grantchester S2 and Peaky Blinders S3. Smile

Rhubarb01 · 07/08/2015 21:19

Just seen that we are currently trending on MN! (I guess everyone else has better things to do). Aside from that, thank goodness for a bit of Poldark, Grantchester and Musketeers to keep us going until Autumn 2016. I don't think I once followed any of the plot of Grantchester or Musketeers come to that but I will enjoy the excellent work that has been done on the costume design - well maybe a few other things as well.

KellyHb · 07/08/2015 21:23

I'm going to watch Grantchester next week rhu. I've had it on record but never had a chance to watch it and Peaky Blinders S2. Although that series isn't everyone cup of tea.

I definitely have a new appreciation for James Norton. Smile

Rhubarb01 · 07/08/2015 21:29

I only watched the first episode of Peaky Blinders and got a bit put off by one or two things although my mum likes it. Similarly I hated the first episode of Ripper Street, which I thought was awful (content unpleasant) and just didn't want to watch - I know nothing!

I'm going to watch the annual John Wilson Orchestra Prom concert tonight with Seth McFarlane as it's a Frank Sinatra Prom. 10.15 on BBC4 if anyone else fancies it. All the other ones the JW Orchestra have done have been great - if you like show music, classic film musicals, swing, big band or the great american song writers - you know me always living a bit in the past!

KellyHb · 07/08/2015 21:34

I quite like Frank Sinatra music rhu. Thanks for reminding me actually. I'll record it and probably watch it tomorrow. Seth McFarlane is a really good singer. I could be wrong but I think they did a concert last year similar and it was really good.

pixieg1rl · 07/08/2015 21:37

I can't watch Grantchester, 5 minutes into the first episode the main character cycled in completely the wrong direction then every shot had him cycling around Cambridge in a completely nonsensical route. I know these things shouldn't matter, but dammit, it drives me mad.

Good to know they're filming, I work just around the corner from the colleges and last year they dressed up our office as a 1950s hotel.

Nickel45 · 07/08/2015 21:39

We need something good on TV ... I'm currently 'watching' some program on BBQing?!? I say watching .... It's on in the background, have no idea what's happening, nor do i care!! I liked Grantchester, but more for Robson Green ... Now showing my age!!

KellyHb · 07/08/2015 21:43

It must be so pretty pix working in those areas. I've always wanted to visit Oxford and Cambridge just to say I'd actually been there. I'd probably be like Molly Dawes, mouth gaping at how "brainy" all the students looked.

pixieg1rl · 07/08/2015 21:53

When you come down I'll give you a tour Kelly. It is pretty, I'll give you that and even after all these years it still catches me out, but the tourists and the students drive you mad.

There's a glorious week in mid September, the early evening light is beautiful, it makes the stone glow, the tourists are mostly gone and the students aren't back.

Rhubarb01 · 07/08/2015 21:56

I love Oxford - been up there a few times in the last couple of years with eldest DD - trying to persuade her that she ought to set her sights high -you can but try even if they don't really want to know. It's lovely, lucky students, mind you they have to work hard. I've never been to Cambridge but I'm guessing it's very similar. Definitely a special place if you're fortunate enough to get in.

Just to take things down a peg or two - yes always enjoy Robson Green, definitely a Soldier Soldier fan here!

Ilovelblue · 07/08/2015 21:58

Finished work for two weeks - hurray!

Update on the farewell with the boss: it didn't happen. I knew I needed to say goodbye to both him and another colleague. The other one came up and said "It's hug time" and then I cried so I decided to leave going in to see Mr X until the last moment (and when my tears had subsided). As I went into the office, I realised he'd gone home for the weekend! So both he and I were spared the embarrassment of me bursting into tears again I guess. I will email him tomorrow. Best not to do it tonight as I've had a big glass of wine and need to make sure my email is coherent!

I really need to do some ironing before packing but my guess is it won't happen tonight. Am currently watching Rick Stein though not really taking it in if you know what I mean.

ice does CJ know he's coming to France with me yet?

Kelly I've loved your story. Do you think you will do another one when this one is finished?

Ilovelblue · 07/08/2015 21:59

Another thought Kelly - did you gym instructor ever come up with any more intel on BA?

KellyHb · 07/08/2015 22:03

Yip I'll definately take you pix.

On another note, I've been feeling maudlin today. Started with listening to the OG soundtrack this morning while working in the house (such a great soundtrack) and I've been reading that all these different TV series that are going to be filming new episodes soon, most of the characters are returning, even ones that are big Hollywood actors and I was thinking so typical that LT isn't. It would've been lovely especially if the new series may have been centred around their characters. It just really really rankles with me. Especially if S2 is the last one they do. Sad

Richtea19 · 07/08/2015 22:14

DH and I had a Xmas weekend away to Oxford a couple of years ago and we are thinking of Cambridge for this Christmas, maybe a ditch the DH and meet for a G&T!

There's nothing on over the summer holidays, we try to catch up on stuff we have missed. Missed out on Peeky Blinders wasn't that the gorg Tom Hardy?

ilove happy holidays. I can't believe we are almost at the end of week one and not too many arguments! DH is working his way through the cocktail menu..... Whilst checking out all these lovely looking girls in hot pants/play suits . !!!

Ilovelblue · 07/08/2015 22:18

....and you are also checking out the local talent too Richtea from what you said before!

I've been to Oxford quite a few times and Cambridge a couple of times. I think I preferred Cambridge over Oxford but it's a devil of a place to get to from our side of the country and I can honestly say the Catthorpe Interchange rates as one of my worst ever journeys.

KellyHb · 07/08/2015 22:25

rich glad you're enjoying your holiday. Ah, there's nothing wrong with window shopping, I say as long as its not too obvious. Smile I can almost feel the lovely abroad heat through your message.

pix that was meant to say "I'll take you up on your offer.

ilove sorry you didn't get to say a goodbye face to face with your boss but think of it that an email is a good way of you saying things you couldn't if you were upset trying to talk to him.

I don't know about another story ilove. Unless I had a great one in my mind, I could do another one. I wouldn't want to write about anything else than CJ/Molly really. I'll see how people like how this one ends. People might've had enough of my writing by then.

Re: GI. I haven't seen him for a few weeks with the kids being off and he only works during the day Mon-Weds and I cant get there until night-time but with family being away next week, I'm going to go the days that he's in next week and (if he's there) see what he can tell me.

pixieg1rl · 07/08/2015 22:26

Catthorpe is still hell ilove. When I regularly drove between Cambridge and Lancs/N Manchester I used to take a route via Nottingham and Huddersfield. I used to hate the section of the M62 that went over saddleworth, just horrible.

Rhubarb01 · 07/08/2015 22:55

Cor I never appreciated how difficult it is to play an oboe! Just saw the oboe player doing a solo for the prom and crikey did he have a red face - sorry just a random observation - enjoying it though!

KellyHb · 08/08/2015 09:38

Morning.

Another sunny day here. Doubt I'll have have time to sit out in it today much. Getting everyone's things washed and ironed for them going away tomorrow. Can't wait!

Kids have been already working that last nerve I've got left this morning so DH had taken them for a walk for half an hour out of my way. Confused

icemistOBE · 08/08/2015 09:54
