Well have arrived in Normandy and zut alors it's a bit of a temperature change from SW France. My teeny hotpants and boob tube aren't doing the biz here. Am wondering what on earth went through my mind when I decided to book a 2 location hol, instead of our usual fortnight in one place.

kelly can't believe your gorgeous cheekbones and that you didn't thoroughly check out the low slungness of the combats.

Saving all the ff for tomorrow when I'll probably be huddled shivering inside, sobbing about the loss of my lilo and drowning my sorrows with cider and calvados.

KellyHb · 26/07/2015 00:03

Haha bless you. Thanks orphan I know, totally wasted the combat searching opportunity. Didn't go above and beyond at all. Just didn't see the bigger picture.

Sorry its colder there in Normandy but you never know-in a place steeped in military history, there may be some combats visiting the area when you're there. Smile

orphan · 26/07/2015 08:52

Sacre blue it's raining!! And not 'sudden thunderstorm downpour to alleviate the heat' sort of rain but British type rain. Will need a seriously close encounter with a gorgeous combat wearer to make up for it. Pass me the cidre

pixieg1rl · 26/07/2015 09:17

Brief moment of panic this morning as the ff I've been working on all weekend refused to load. Luckily a quick re-boot of my phone seemed to get it back. Phew

Taking DS to see Aliens Love Underpants at the theatre this afternoon. Joy. Angry

Richtea19 · 26/07/2015 09:25

Aliens love underpants sounds like something my boys would love! And thank goodness your FF is still there (selfish reasons of course).

Small DS had a few friends staying over last night, enter the room at your peril. The stench of B.O!!! Love teenagers!

Boots shop this morning for holiday bits and then I'm off to see Magic Mike with surgery girls! Our outings have a theme as the last one was 50SOG. That was when I announced I had chlamydia... What am I going to say this time!!!

icemistOBE · 26/07/2015 11:22

Fab update kelly

Richtea19 · 26/07/2015 15:22

Oh yes! Fab thanks x

pixieg1rl · 26/07/2015 15:28

My standard recommendation is The Picture Book by Jo Baker; I loved it. If you like dark humour and unlikely vampires and aliens then The Radleys or The Humans by Matt Haig (odd, but in a good way).

KellyHb · 26/07/2015 15:48

Afternoon.

Its sooo cold here today after yesterday's sun. DD is playing at her friends house and boys are having a nap so a nice and peaceful house for a bit Smile

Thanks ice. Glad people still like the story.

Did Laurie love write any more OG FF than those 3 one shots I think she did last year? Just I remember they were great Grin

orphan · 26/07/2015 16:15

Ooh I love Matt Haig's The Radleys pixie but haven't read The Humans. Just read Sharon Bolton's Little Black Lies, set on the Falkland Islands which is a real page turner if you like thriller/suspense richtea (but perhaps not for any who've got littlies still). And of course remember Hazel Osmond and Mhairi McFarlane for light, but witty chicklit. I'm currently reading The Distance by Helen Giltrow, another thriller. Good so far.

Ds gave me the first Magic Mike DVD for a present once as a sort of joke, knowing how much I hate Channing PotatoHead. I had to watch it through my fingers. He's a good dancer though!

Love your one shot onlygirl. CJ emerging from the sea, mmm...

It's stopped raining here but, but I couldn't stop myself from checking the temp back in our last place: 32°c. Needed to have another slug of le cidre once I'd seen that. DD has realised she didn't pack any colder weather clothes...

Onlygirljen · 26/07/2015 16:41

No other OG stuff kelly, what she did do was brilliant though.

Onlygirljen · 26/07/2015 16:42

Thanks orphan! I did particularly enjoy imagining the walk from the sea!! Grin

KellyHb · 26/07/2015 17:27

Thanks jen. That's a shame. I think her OG FF was one of the first I ever read. May have to re-read soon.

moojangles · 26/07/2015 18:14

kelly had fun explaining to DH why I was looking at RAF man!!Luckily DH doesn't know him

moojangles · 26/07/2015 18:30

DH fine with it though, realised that I made that sound bad & it wasn't

pixieg1rl · 26/07/2015 20:44

Holiday venues being searched out by MrP this weekend. Looks like in for a wifi-less break anywhere from Ullapool to Cornwall

Ilovelblue · 26/07/2015 20:52

You sound less than thrilled about the prospect pixie.....

Very quiet on here today. The weather in Lancashire has been most depressing and not at all summery. I had to nip into town this morning to collect a delivery at Laura Ashley but have spent most of the afternoon ironing, cooking and writing letters to a couple of elderly relatives. Got in a couple of episodes of OG as well....... my treat for a wet Sunday.

pixieg1rl · 26/07/2015 21:00

I think a week in the company of MrP and DS with no wifi might just be the death of me ilove

It's more that he thinks very much with himself in mind. I'd love a week somewhere remote on the west coast of Scotland if it were just us but I know DS wouldn't tolerate the drive (MrP loves a long drive) and needs a little more entertainment than birdwatching. We were hoping to get a place in Dorset but it had been booked.

Ilovelblue · 26/07/2015 21:17

Fair point pixie. Which destination is top of the list currently?

pixieg1rl · 26/07/2015 21:30

Currently Looe in Cornwall ilove. I was hoping for Hampshire/Dorset but he does love Cornwall.

Nickel45 · 26/07/2015 21:34

I'm going to be in Cornwall for a couple of days mid August pix, might gonna have to meet up if we're there at the same time :)

I've had a busy day setting up my marquee for the holiday club week ... when I say setting up, I mean telling some people where to put it and unloading my car into it! The hard work starts tomorrow, and I'm already shattered!!

Ilovelblue · 26/07/2015 21:39

Long journey from Cambridge pixie. I don't envy you with a 4 yo.

Nickel - that's the art of delegation, well done! I hope the weather is better for you this coming week than it has been over the weekend.

pixieg1rl · 26/07/2015 21:47

We've done the drive to Exeter a few times ilove as BIL is down there - DS was younger at the time. I think we'll resort to loading films onto the ipad to get us through the worst of it.

I'll let you know if we get anything Nickel, I'd love to meet a real life person off here.
