Corrie Thread - Bet Emily is relieved there is one less child for her 24 hour creche

AnneEyhtMeyer · 27/06/2015 18:45

With Miley gone, never to be heard of for the next 15 years until she turns up with a new head, at least Emily won't have to babysit her every day and night for the foreseeable future.

New thread where we can hope the scriptwriters wake up and actually start paying attention to plot lines and character histories.

What is going on with that dreary couple Maria and Luke? Please hurry up and go on maternity leave. And take little Liam with you.

EachandEveryone · 11/08/2015 18:27

I don't think chef looks ten years older.

Christ how do you deal with a child like Simon?

southeastdweller · 11/08/2015 18:35

I agree the 'are you gay, are you single to the chef' line was clunky. Possibly something you'd ask someone if you were drunk, though, which those two last night weren't.

I really like sassy Steph and wish she'd get out into the street more. The actress was pretty good comic timing.

Counting down the days until Andrea buggers off for good.

AgathaChristie01 · 11/08/2015 18:52

Exactly southeast, clunky is a good description of it. It was definitely not something anyone would just ask, in passing, of a stranger.

I read somewhere that Hayley Tamaddon / Andrea doesn't want to leave Grin... She apparently alluded to it jokingly in an interview. Presume she is being written out as a result of Lloyd's departure. I never liked her character.

I hope they don't drag out the Simon story much longer.

DocHollywood · 11/08/2015 19:27

Yes, I like Steph and I didn't like the way Robert spoke to her outside the bistro. Just because he's a chef and she's a waitress Shock

southeastdweller · 11/08/2015 21:34

Just been reading about the live episode in six weeks time. Apparently 'The Platts' ongoing feud with Callum Logan will be at the heart of the special episode'. I'm hoping this means the story will finally end, preferably in the death of either Callum or Bethany.

Chipstick10 · 11/08/2015 21:39

Oh please please let it end, I simply cannot stand another second of Callum or Bethany .

AgathaChristie01 · 11/08/2015 23:49

Oh I hope that ends it, for good, and that Callum, Sarah and Bethany disappear.

DocHollywood · 12/08/2015 07:46

At least another 18 episodes?? Talk about stringing out the torture. That's what happens when a character's story hasn't been thought through. E.g. Callum. Let's get Max's dad on the scene. Let's make him a dealer. Let's decide he wants custody. Let's give him the aunt as a girlfriend. Let's get the girlfriend's child involved etc etc

(Sorry for the rant...)

AgathaChristie01 · 12/08/2015 10:53

Yes, exactly, Doc. I don't think any storylines are planned out at all, nowadays on Corrie, hence they drag forever, especially the flimsy ones.
Anything with a bit of depth, and involving decent characters, gets a sudden end, Steve's depression, being one example.
I'm heartily sick of the same shallow characters, about whom I care nothing, taking up so much screen time. I know nothing about drug dealers, but Callum has to be the wimpiest (not sure is that even a word) gangster ever.

Clawdy · 12/08/2015 15:16

Robert will always be Adam in Casualty to me. He must be a pretty good actor actually because his voice is completely different now.

BreconBeBuggered · 12/08/2015 20:24

Why did the dog have to go back? She was a much better actor than half the cast. I bet she could churn out a passable script too.

eddiemairswife · 12/08/2015 21:01

I'm sure the dog will be back. I reckon she won't settle back with her original owners.

MrsUltracrepidarian · 12/08/2015 21:06

Agree!
And I bet she costs nothing, being Steve's real dog.
More of her, and get rid of Steph, Luke, Calum, Sarah, Bethany and Andrea.

zukiecat · 12/08/2015 21:40

I like Andrea,

Agree that Bethany and Calum can go though.

Looking forward to Carla leaving, never could stand her.

ClaudiaNaughton · 12/08/2015 21:51

Peter's got to come up from Portsmouth and get Simon. I'm getting quite stressed watching him. He's only going to get worse.....

AnneOfSleeves · 12/08/2015 21:59

The only decent portrayal of a character at the moment is Tim.

Everyone else needs a kick up the arse and a return to previous form.

eddiemairswife · 12/08/2015 22:07

Peter is on his way to Antigua.

sandycove · 12/08/2015 23:07

I cannot bear to watch Simon either, why do they keep him on, he cannot act. I also don't like Tracy's daughter, what a precocious child, the way she stares at people before she speaks.

mollie123 · 13/08/2015 08:31

taking a party of 12 year olds to a bistro (complete with footballs) - bad idea and doomed from the start should have gone to Mcd's !
leanne is such a harridan - screaming like a fishwife in front of everyone in the bistro - yes Simon is a nasty piece of work but she is not handling him well and I wonder whether it is because she is after all not his real 'mum' (no doubt he will taunt her with it at some point) and Peter needs to step up and take him over - besides which I would like to see Peter back on the cobbles Smile

sandycove · 13/08/2015 08:55

I bet she regrets ever adopting Simon, what on earth does she get out of it. The whole restaurant scene was awful to watch, so contrived and cringeworthy. I agree about McDs, why would you have had a crowd of noisy boys in a restaurant. Leanne's just as annoying as Simon.

AgathaChristie01 · 13/08/2015 09:39

I didn't watch last night. Can't stand Simon, I think Alex Bain has long outgrown any cuteness factor, which was what carried him through, in the early years, and now it is evident that he cannot act.
Unfortunately, like Chesney, no doubt, he will still be there, in ten years time, still as unbelievable.

I'd like to see that story being brought to an end anyway.

Clawdy · 13/08/2015 10:54

Leanne's certainly not handling Simon well - I watched last night thinking "She should sit down and talk to him quietly and calmly and try to find out what's going on in his head..." Then I remembered that's exactly what I should have done with our eldest DS who became The Teenager From Hell...and I didn't, I did everything wrong. So maybe in a way it's quite realistic for Leanne to over-react like she is doing.

I see Katy's post-Corrie career has extended as far as becoming a Strictly contestant Grin

Jo4040 · 13/08/2015 13:30

Katy was on some radio station my Dad was listening too, talking to this radio presenter. He said to her 'You sound like a glass half full kind of girl'

She replied 'Errr whats that mean?!"

Bloodyhell love, I know you have got the voice of a little girl but surly not the brain of one too! She kept referring herself to an 'actress' and repeatedly said the phrase 'and stuff'

Well done love...you'll defo get some kind of a contract now Wink
