Corrie Thread - Bet Emily is relieved there is one less child for her 24 hour creche

With Miley gone, never to be heard of for the next 15 years until she turns up with a new head, at least Emily won't have to babysit her every day and night for the foreseeable future.

New thread where we can hope the scriptwriters wake up and actually start paying attention to plot lines and character histories.

Even though Leanne has parental rights I still find it strange when he calls her mum and that she has more authority over Simon than his natural grandfather who lives in the same street. I mean would this happen in real life. Apart from that Simon is terrible, and so is Amy. What an awful child, and this fixation she has with the money Deirdre has left her. It's just stupid. Kids much younger than her understand the concept of getting money when they turn 18. The scriptwriters are useless.

Sparklingbrook · 15/08/2015 09:56

The sensible thing would be not to tell Amy about the money. Her and Simon are just unwatchable though. They need to go.

Sparklingbrook · 15/08/2015 10:01

Ugh. I don't know which storyline is worse. The Tracy and Robert one/Leanne &Simon/Steve and the dog/Sallys wedding/the record thing.

when Robert and his helmet of hair arrived Grin
I know, that hair is a helmet isn't it. Robert brings nothing to the programme , they seem to be building him up by moving him in with Tracy. What for, he's already annoying me.

GetHappy · 15/08/2015 10:41

I didn't understand the point of Anna in last nights episode. It seemed as if they needed to fill the episode out so they thought they would let Anna have a rant!

I find myself staring at that hair with a horrible fascination. Grin
I bet the box he carried in, is full of hair dye. He isn't particularly nice either. The way he spoke to the hitherto unseen person in the kitchen, was really rude.
Are we supposed to believe he is the stereotypical temperamental chef? In a backstreet bistro, where he can spend half his time ogling Tracy, therefore, not under much pressure.

Totally pointless. She used to be an okay character. They turn her into a complete babbling nincompoop around Alya's family, for some reason. How awkward would you need to be to not be able to get past some boxes of crisps, without hurting yourself?
What was the point of the crisps 'theme' anyway? Filling time was what it seemed like, in between Anna thumping herself with the hoover. And what sort of cleaning was she doing in the back room of the Rovers, just thumping cushions around. Ridiculous stuff.

DocHollywood · 15/08/2015 11:16

He clearly thinks he's a cut above the rest so why does he want to move into Tracey's bedroom when he could be renting an apartment in Victoria Court? I hope his part is short lived as I don't like his character at all. I wonder if he'll try to get his hands on Amy's money and the shop?

DocHollywood · 15/08/2015 11:18

Agree Agatha. Sometimes you wonder if the scriptwriters pass an episode onto year 11 work experience students and give them free reign.

eddiemairswife · 15/08/2015 11:27

It seems unlikely that Simon's other grandparents have no contact at all with him. I remember that when he was due to start school they wanted to pay for him to be privately educated and Peter refused, but I thought they would want to have some contact with their dead daughter's child.

Jo4040 · 15/08/2015 12:32

My thought of the 'new Anna' is that with everything she has had to deal with in the last year- Going bankrupt, sleeping with that man, her partners ex wife turning up, living in that small flat, Garry having a breakdown, Faye having a baby..etc, is to show she probably now lives on her nerves, that's why she was talking fast and puffing cushions manically in the air and triping over crisp box's (lol).

I wonder if they made a big deal over that because she's going to put some kinda claim in...'Bruise to the leg'...

AnneOfSleeves · 15/08/2015 13:05

Robert was married to Joanie/Toni wasn't he? So if they've split up and he's after Tracy, why on earth is he living with flat mates? On last night's episode Tracy said that his flat mates had chucked him out.

Presumably he has equity from his a) previous marital home and b) his restaurant he ran with his wife.

southeastdweller · 15/08/2015 13:08

I think there's a dark side to Robert and the nasty comment to Steph was a hint of what's to come. I agree with Doc about his possible future plans and yes the hair is distracting.

Wishful80smontage · 15/08/2015 14:17

Its apart as if the scriptwriters are trying to make characters unlikeable now ruining Gail, Eileen etc add Steph to the list she's getting more annoying by the episode now :(

AgathaChristie01 · 15/08/2015 14:20

Agree Agatha. Sometimes you wonder if the scriptwriters pass an episode onto year 11 work experience students and give them free reign.

Exactly Doc. I would go further and say they have passed it over completely to just anybody to cobble together. Characters change to suit ever more ridiculous storylines.

Also agree re Robert and the line about being thrown out by flatmate. Hmm
So, what happened to wherever he lived with his wife, up to (presumably) very recently. I would want to know, before letting him move in, why was he thrown out. Not that Ken got a chance to ask.

If he can afford a flat, in the first place, he and Tracy should go and get one, and leave Ken in peace.

Wishful80smontage · 15/08/2015 14:21

It's almost*

JiltedJohnsJulie · 15/08/2015 14:39

Right I've missed a few episodes whilst we've been camping. Where's Nick?

Fantasyland · 15/08/2015 14:51

Coronation street is so unbelievable, Liz now seems ok with Tracey in her pub after what Tracey had done and Tracey seems ok with Liz.

At a new job would you really let your new girlfriend keep coming in the kitchen and slobbering all over you in front of your new boss?
Which boss would let someone just keep walking in their kitchen?

The lack of grief shown by Tracey, Ken and Sophie is ridiculous. Where are the scenes of them not wanting to get out of bed/crying/reminiscing? No one gets over a death that quickly.

Where is Gavin and why has no one noticed he has vanished?

AnneOfSleeves · 15/08/2015 18:16

Where's Dev?

Hmm, they might have done a better job..

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 16/08/2015 07:12

I've missed quite a few episodes in the last few months, how did the Steve and the dog story come about?

Wasn't the Luke/Steph/Maria story one of the most tired cliches ever.

mollie123 · 16/08/2015 07:18

dog left in the cab - so belonged to someone else (obviously the annoying woman who turned up to retrieve him/her after rover had homed himself back to the rovers)
Steve loves that dog (as he should as it is his own dog) and it is a welcome sight to us viewers Grin

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 16/08/2015 07:26

Thanks Smile

mollie123 · 16/08/2015 08:11

I did miss the first arrival of rover - so he may have hopped into the cab rather than being left (he was obviously not happy in his home) Smile

afreshstartplease · 16/08/2015 08:13

I think Robert was showing signing over everything to his wife
