Corrie Thread - Bet Emily is relieved there is one less child for her 24 hour creche

With Miley gone, never to be heard of for the next 15 years until she turns up with a new head, at least Emily won't have to babysit her every day and night for the foreseeable future.

New thread where we can hope the scriptwriters wake up and actually start paying attention to plot lines and character histories.

Oh and I like Nick too.

I've never disliked Nick. Like a lot of Corrie stories, I've noticed that, his brain injury seems to have gone by the wayside.
I think he has blossomed really, in the past while. He is much kinder to Gail than he used to be, and is believable, as the older brother / uncle, on the rare occasion that he reprimands some of the rest of the family, for their behaviour.

He and Carla could have been a good couple, but as she is leaving, and with Erica / Kim Tate around, I guess that won't come to anything.
He looks far too old for the age he is supposed to be. Then again, so does Robert.

Not to mention Bethany... Ah well.

ProfYaffle · 06/08/2015 18:21

I'm a Nick fan too! I'm quite glad his brain injury has gone away, I didn't like nasty Nick. Agree he and Carla would've been good together, I also like it when he and David join forces.

southeastdweller · 06/08/2015 19:15

Nick is one of the more three-dimensional characters but I get distracted sometimes in scenes he's in with Gail as he only looks a few years younger than her.

Housemum · 07/08/2015 09:04

The brain injury gets mentioned occasionally - when he gets stressed, or is doing the accounts, there's sometimes the odd comment about how it's harder than it used to be, or how he forgets things.

I thought he was awful at first, but now he is actually believable. Love the conversations with him and Carla.

Anna has gone down the wet and wimpy route like Gail - she was a real ballsy character when she started, now she simpers like Fiz. I was cringing last week watching her and Aaliyah's family in the bistro, she was all fluttery and giggly like a child acting grown up.

AgathaChristie01 · 07/08/2015 09:48

I really liked Anna, especially in the storyline around Hayley's death. She was one of the very few that Roy was able to talk to, and confide in, and she really respected that.
Now I sigh inwardly when she appears, especially around Alya's family. The scriptwriters/ producers have made her into an idiot, IMO.

I thought my wish had come true when Lloyd was loading suitcases into the taxi this week, for Bethany, happy days. Darn it, only the holiday she has bleated about for every episode for the eternity that she seems to have been in the programme. Angry

EachandEveryone · 07/08/2015 10:43

Did Callum end up paying for it?

AgathaChristie01 · 07/08/2015 16:28

Hilda singing while cleaning in the Rovers with Annie raising her eyes to the ceiling. Little things like that endeared them to us didn't they.

That is for sure. I watched one last night where Bet's flat had been burgled and Mrs Walker gave her clothes. Grin
Of course their taste in clothes couldn't be much further apart. Anyway the episode finished with Bet arriving into work, wearing one of Mrs Walker's dresses, and with quite a lot on show Wink, all the men were delighted...
Mrs Walker gasps in horror 'you've got it on back to front'... Grin

tarashill · 07/08/2015 16:46

Yes they've totally changed Anna's character haven't they. When she first came into the street we were expected to believe she was some kind of matriarchal type figure of a criminal family who everyone should fear, she was anything but, but at least she had a bit of feistiness about her.
Now as you say the scriptwriters have turned her into an idiot.
Yes Agatha the earl y episodes were brilliant. They don't need all the murders and blackmail and stuff. Just little things like Bet wearing Annie's clothes was all the drama we needed. Innocent stuff but so funny.

Jo4040 · 07/08/2015 16:56

Wouldn't Anna's husband have legal rights to Faye?! Just saying...bit weird for Faye that...

eddiemairswife · 07/08/2015 18:24

I thought it was strange that when Eddie(?) Windass left there was no check on Faye, nor when Owen moved in. But I really don't know the procedure with regard to adoption. Do Social Services stay involved for a while, or are adoptive parents left to fend for themselves?

tarashill · 07/08/2015 19:48

Wonder who's going to end up with the factory. Hope it's not dreary Alya.

AgathaChristie01 · 07/08/2015 20:11

I think that is where Shayne Warde comes in, as a long lost Connor relative.

differentnameforthis · 08/08/2015 08:23

Pretty sure they did cover it when Eddie left, as I seem to recall Anna thinking she would lose Faye, but it didn't happen...

thenightsky · 08/08/2015 10:37

How much would a factory like that cost? How would Sally even imagine she could buy it? Stupid story line. The building alone must be worth close on a million as a potential development site.

DocHollywood · 08/08/2015 12:10

I'm surprised Alya got away scot-free with the accounts debacle.
Also, you just know Sal will be offered her job back.

Sparklingbrook · 08/08/2015 12:11

Just caught up. I thought exactly the same night. What would her offer have been?

Where's Paddy Mcguinness? Must be soon.

eddiemairswife · 08/08/2015 12:15

Looks like Aliyah has her sights on the factory as well.

Wishful80smontage · 08/08/2015 12:20

I would love it if sally could be the boss of the factory though even though I know it won't happen.
I'm so fed up of Eileen and micheal together weirdest couple ever, but I was thinking what is the age difference between Kevin and Gail? Could they not put them together or would that be too weird again (although not as much as Eileen and micheal!)

DocHollywood · 08/08/2015 12:26

The bracelet storyline was bloody stupid, completely out of character for Eileen AND Michael. That's what happens when the scriptwriters neglect to get inside the characters' psyche.

Wishful80smontage · 08/08/2015 13:20

Agreed no way would Eileen be running around trying to come up with crazy schemes to get it back she'd march in there and get the bloody thing job done. There's no consistency to the characters nor follow through of any storylines ATM its just awful and quite insulting to us as viewers really.
There's characters going through major trauma and grieving processes not really touch upon, then nick and Erica losing the baby agai over with, Anna and her dd seem back to normal after Mileys gone, has andy/gavin even been in it recently?!

eddiemairswife · 08/08/2015 14:54

Does Todd still live at Eileen's?

Jo4040 · 08/08/2015 16:11

I think Todds living at the local 'Travel Lodge' to be honest with you

southeastdweller · 08/08/2015 18:21

The writer's have really dragged down Eileen now she's with Michael.

Wishful80smontage · 08/08/2015 18:34

Its just not Eileen at all at the minute is it :( shame she's really one of my favourites normally especially in the cab office with Steve and Lloyd or those great scenes with liz and Deirdre when they used do them.
