With Miley gone, never to be heard of for the next 15 years until she turns up with a new head, at least Emily won't have to babysit her every day and night for the foreseeable future.

New thread where we can hope the scriptwriters wake up and actually start paying attention to plot lines and character histories.

At last, they got the 'oldies' together, just them, chatting about Deirdre. Better than any of the funeral episodes. I enjoyed it too because it didn't feature any nonsense scenes of other stories.
Peter lecturing Tracy, Grin, I'm not surprised she turned on him, and gave it back with both barrels. I found her quite credible, for once - apart from her promise to change.
I liked Liz's toast at the end, comparing Deirdre to wine. I also liked the harking back to the past, with Bev and Audrey calling a truce.

Now, Corrie, please let's have more episodes like this, working on the strength of the characters, not endless nonsensical bus crashes, fires, and implausible gangsters.

Listmaker · 16/07/2015 10:48

I thought Kate Ford acted that well last night. They all did - as you say none of the rubbish new/young characters - especially no Sarah and Bethany is definitely the way to go.

I know Deidre was no saint (remember her and Dev?!) but Ken and Peter have put her through a fair few things in their time too. So Tracy was right to give it back at them.

I had forgotten about Bev and Audrey and Fred. Those were the days!

Jo4040 · 16/07/2015 10:59

Yes I agree.
Corrie nearly redeemed itself last night.

TillyButton · 16/07/2015 11:15

Why has Peter come back as the Fonz? (shows age)Smile

eddiemairswife · 16/07/2015 12:35

Did Peter say why he didn't phone to explain he was delayed and would miss the funeral?

sweetgrape · 16/07/2015 13:18

I'm not sure but I'm glad Tracey said "why didn't you do the normal thing and set off the day before", to which he had no answer.

Jo4040 · 16/07/2015 16:44

Are the actors aloud to add their own lines in? Or have they got to stick to the script?

southeastdweller · 16/07/2015 19:01

Extra episode tonight at 8.30.

Jo4040 · 16/07/2015 20:41

Is it me or is Sinade (don't know how to spell her name) really beautiful? Smile

MrsUltracrepidarian · 16/07/2015 20:43

Okay, am behind the curve here, as have been away, following the thread but no access to itvplayer Grin.
am now halfway thru the funeral episode, in the ad break...
Was expecting to hate it, and did indeed fast-forward thru the tedious Platt/Callum stuff, but have been impressed with Tracey-luv (and the scriptwriters nodding to us here with the Tracey-luv and teenage-tapes-in- the-bedroom mentions).
Also the scenes of people in black around the street, and reflection in the coffin - very West Wing type cinematography.
Ooooh - ads are over. Back soon Grin

MrsUltracrepidarian · 16/07/2015 20:52

I thought the funeral did justice - close ups of people and realistic emotion.

sweetgrape · 16/07/2015 21:12

If only Peter could have took Simon with him.

DocHollywood · 16/07/2015 21:48

Bloody hilarious opener tonight for all you kimono fans Grin

BreconBeBuggered · 16/07/2015 22:57

I was heartbroken at the demise of the sweaty-seated kimono. Why couldn't he have put it in the wash once Brian had left?

TheLastPickleInTheJar · 17/07/2015 07:44

Do we think Simon's going to find out about Leanne's prostitute past? I dread to think how he'll react.

Sparklingbrook · 17/07/2015 07:46

I think he will, but it's crap because I honestly don't care. It will trigger another load of terrible acting. He needs a scholarship to a boarding school asap.

southeastdweller · 17/07/2015 07:52

I don't like bratty Simon, but think the Dan story is a good one in a way - tough choice for Leeann tonight. Does she tell her friend that Dan has form for violence which means her son finds out about her sordid past, or does she keep quiet and live with the worry and guilt? I'm guessing the former as the DV storyline with Simon is going to continue.

AgathaChristie01 · 17/07/2015 09:11

Dan reminds me a bit of Phelan, for some reason. I think it's an okay story, but will probably come to an abrupt end, whereas much weaker storylines, with much weaker characters, drag on forever.
Scholarship for Simon, definitely, to a year round boarding school. Wink

TheLastPickleInTheJar · 17/07/2015 10:26

It was disappointing when Peter said he couldn't go to Antigua with him!

They've got a lot of work to do with that character to make him likeable. Same with Amy. And Max. I think I just don't like kids!

eddiemairswife · 17/07/2015 11:10

What a lucky coincidence that Robert came into the shop just as the thugs were threatening Tracy!

AgathaChristie01 · 17/07/2015 11:16

I thought at first, one of the thugs WAS Robert Grin. Ok I was just half watching at the time.
On Digital Spy someone posted that Peter should have taken Si with him, and Si would soon be given his first job on the boat...to walk the plank. I'm afraid I laughed. Blush

GetHappy · 17/07/2015 18:17

Agatha - I thought one of the "bad guys" was Robert as first too ð???

AgathaChristie01 · 17/07/2015 18:39

Oh good GetHappy Grin, not just me then!

Ellenora5 · 17/07/2015 19:42

I wonder how long Tracey's new leaf will last.

Not too keen on Robert, I wouldn't trust him, and he was way better in casualty Smile

I thought Peter would have been in it a bit longer, and I totally agree that it's a pity he didn't take Simon with him.

Dastardly Dan is quite good, but I presume he will get really nasty.

absolutelynotfabulous · 17/07/2015 21:14

Doesn't Michelle's hair look awful scraped back? What happened to the lovely bob?

I think the Roy storyline is implausible: Roy would never miss something like a driving test. Just not like his character.

I don't like the fact that Carla has degenerated into a gambler in a very short period of tine. I'll miss her when she goes (where's she going, anyway?).

To the pp who mentioned Sinead-I like her looks too. Very pretty Imo.
