Corrie Thread - Bet Emily is relieved there is one less child for her 24 hour creche

With Miley gone, never to be heard of for the next 15 years until she turns up with a new head, at least Emily won't have to babysit her every day and night for the foreseeable future.

New thread where we can hope the scriptwriters wake up and actually start paying attention to plot lines and character histories.

I agree that it was clunky with bits of real emotion, such as Emily, Liz and Steve. Kym Marsh really can't act, her shocked face was a fright.

Candycandle · 09/07/2015 12:36

I actually enjoyed Tracy' acting tonight. Genuine tears. Wasn't keen on how Bev delivered the news. Not enough sorrow behind it for my liking - the grief was meant to be brand new and in my opinion the actors reined in some of it.

Theresaflyinmyhouse · 09/07/2015 12:58

Just watched it. I'm sobbing like an idiot. I bloody hate all the Roy and cathy stuff. It feels like they've been watching obsessive compulsive cleaners off channel 4 and just think "bah, that'll do".

FantasticButtocks · 09/07/2015 13:06

Yes but there's no actual DUST on her stuff. It looks too clean. Very unconvincing.

Housemum · 09/07/2015 13:20

Fantastic - exactly what DH and I said. Just looked far too staged. (Though must have taken ages to pile it all up!) And that newspaper ripped far too easily/neatly!

Hated the awkward glasses scene - surely they would be with her at the hospital mortuary? Or if they gave them back to Bev, wouldn't she have said "the hospital gave me these"? The whole thing was really unmoving for me. When Vera went I cried, same for Stan. I felt nothing - and Ken looked as if you'd just told him you'd forgotten to buy the sausages, not that his beloved wife had died. I know not everyone dissolves into tears, but it was a look of neither disbelief more shock - just, "meh".

Anyone else get the wrong end of the stick for a mo - Ken said something like, "that's some consolation, the peace and quiet". I realised after that he meant her passing, at first I thought he meant her chatting when he's reading! Blush

Fantasyland · 09/07/2015 13:46

Yes that line about peace and quiet I thought he meant that too!

NoMontagues · 09/07/2015 14:53

Just watched. Yes I thought Tracy did ok too cathy .

Agree with everyone re Kym Marsh, awful awful.

GetHappy · 09/07/2015 15:17

I feel for all the actors and crew doing this as it must still be very raw for them still, especially the ones that were very close to Ann kirkbridge!!

TheLastPickleInTheJar · 09/07/2015 18:54

I just feel so sad that she's gone. Such a wonderful actress, such a great character Sad

The glasses definitely are her trademark. Well, glasses and chain belts!

Ellenora5 · 09/07/2015 19:29

I really feel they should have left out the other stories last night, no one cares about Sarah and Callum, and the hoarding stuff could have waited, in saying that I started crying as soon as Bev was driving down the street, I think it must have been very hard for the actors to film the scenes.

GetHappy · 09/07/2015 19:31

I agree they shoulf have left the other stories out!!

It should have been all about Deidre!!

I have only just realised it is on again tonight!!

southeastdweller · 09/07/2015 19:36

Totally agree it should all have been about Deirdre. I'm hoping the funeral episodes on Monday won't cut back to scenes of non-related stories on the street.

AgathaChristie01 · 09/07/2015 19:56

I said the same Ellenora, I really thought the scenes with Callum and Sarah were even more unbearable than usual.
Totally out of place, given the importance of the person who died.

FantasticButtocks · 09/07/2015 20:03

But on the other hand there's that terribly sad thing when a person dies - the world just carries on.

But, yes, the hoarding story and the Callum and Sarah ridiculousness Hmm , totally inappropriate. But then they needed to have some people going about their business totally unaware that Deirdre had died.

AgathaChristie01 · 09/07/2015 20:14

Please, please Sarah do go back to wherever you were, and take Bethany. I know she won't but I can live in hope...

FraggleHair · 09/07/2015 20:22

Simon really is the cursed child!

SwedishEdith · 09/07/2015 20:23

Leanne really does need mn atm.

Costacoffeeplease · 09/07/2015 20:31

I'm sorry, but that door opening bit was just cringey, what a shame

southeastdweller · 09/07/2015 20:32

If I didn't think the writers were obsessed with the Platt's before tonight's and yesterdays episodes, then I'm sure now. In particular I didn't like the episode ended with Kylie and David.

Anyone else feel it was weird how Gail was so matter of fact, even cold, telling Eileen about Deirdre? And walking into the house later and not mentioning it?

ProfYaffle · 09/07/2015 21:07

I agree Costa, compare that to when Vera came for Jack.

Costacoffeeplease · 09/07/2015 21:15

This would be bad enough if it was a long standing character who'd been written out - but as Anne Kirkbride has actually died, it's just awful, I don't know how her family must feel watching it

Jo4040 · 09/07/2015 21:17

Carla is leaving isn't she? What's all the showing her on betting websites n games? Are they slowly building up to a story line where she gambles all her money away, looses everything so has to fuck off to a council house in Oldham?

SwedishEdith · 09/07/2015 21:19

Yes, they've got the tone all wrong. Feels a bit disrespectful. And they've had plenty of time to come up with a storyline.

Ellenora5 · 09/07/2015 21:34

Wouldn't you think that just for once Traceyluv could be nice, it gets boring when she's so nasty all the time.

Not sure what the point of the gambling story is, I thought she would just leave with Peter when he's going back to wherever he came from.

Wasn't Bev left at the altar by Fred, and then he was with Audrey, I could be wrong, did he die in it or just leave.

AgathaChristie01 · 09/07/2015 21:58

Fred died on his wedding day. He was at Audrey's house when he collapsed, so he and Bev didn't get married and she wasn't best pleased to discover he was at Audrey's when he became ill.
