OK, after freaking the bejaysus out of me with the weird trailer / advert I am intrigued and looking forward to giving this programme a viewing.

(I will have to record and watch later as I will be watching Messrs Strange and Norrell.)

Anyone else looking forward to it and hoping it lives up to the hype?

She's his mum!!!!!

SouthWestmom · 02/08/2015 21:55

The synths have fantastic make up , I am very keen to know where their foundation is from.

TheSpottedZebra · 02/08/2015 21:56

I like the paint colour in the nice family's house.

TittyBiskwits · 02/08/2015 22:00

Havent RTFT so don't know if this has already been discussed but does anyone know why the synths eyes kept changing from blue to green?

MissBattleaxe · 02/08/2015 22:02

Colin Morgan is fit! I'm getting a bit confused in places but I think I have it sussed. The son was horrid Henry in horrid Henry the movie.

Trills · 02/08/2015 22:03

Synth eyes are green.

Niska is wearing blue contacts to try to blend in.
Karen is wearing brown contacts to try to blend in.
Leo is originally human with synth enhancements, his eyes are original human eyes as far as we know.

When they were in the mind-forest-dream, some of their eyes went silver to indicate the Karen was mentally shutting them down (then she changed her mind)

EeyoresTail · 02/08/2015 22:05

Does anyone have any ideas why the blonde synth took the other flash drive?
I guess it will be important in series 2

TittyBiskwits · 02/08/2015 22:06

trills thanks, that would make sense although I could have sworn that Anita/Mia's eyes just changed at random at one point (although I must admit I was paying too much attention)

dancemom · 02/08/2015 22:06

Hmmmmh that was a bit of a let down ......

TittyBiskwits · 02/08/2015 22:07

Sorry wasn't paying close attention.

BitOfFun · 02/08/2015 22:12

So Niska is on the loose with the secret that could destroy humanity and give her the revenge she seeks? Interesting basis for the second series.

It was great, I've really enjoyed this show.

Rummikub · 02/08/2015 22:15

I'm watching again on plus 1. Got to get ,y fix whie I can!

Does niska want to create more conscious synths?

Trills · 02/08/2015 22:18

Especially since Niska's quoted quality was "darkness" - how is that a defining feature for anything other than a villain?

Ellle · 02/08/2015 22:21

Yes, that's what Niska has always wanted (to make all synths conscious).

My guess is Niska saved the special code in a drive but swapped it for a different one, and that's the one she gave to Laura.

Niska has the drive with the code and is on the loose. Niska will upload the code to free all synths, and that will be the basis of series 2.

Ellle · 02/08/2015 22:24

The darkness is probably a product of her circumstances. All her life she has been abused. Niska wants to free all the other synths from being used/abused the way she was.

Italiangreyhound · 02/08/2015 22:30

Noeuf re Not following why the parents are fine with the kids going off with a strange policeman or why they actually care that much tbh

exactly!

Rummikub · 02/08/2015 22:30

It was chilling when freed realised hobb's intent. To trap the conscious synths their minds by removing free will.

Btw way I started watching AI when it was tv recently . I had to stop when the mum left the robot boy in the woods :(

Italiangreyhound · 02/08/2015 22:32

dancemom re Hmmmmh that was a bit of a let down .....

Yes, I thought so too. All a bit dull. Much better if Tom has had some intricate part to play!

Oh well, roll on series two.

Night all.

Furball · 02/08/2015 22:32

thespottedzebra = colour looks like Crown Stepping Stone

Trills · 02/08/2015 22:40

Niska had hard circumstances, but why was her darkness mentioned in the discussion of each of the synths' essential characteristics?

Was the last conscious synth the best one because she had everything?

Did he make
Mia for caring and mothering
Max for playfulness and fun
Fred for cleverness and resourcefulness
Niska for Why on earth would you make a dark one WTF?
then Karen got to be multidimensional?

Or is it just that the others THINK that's her characteristic because she didn't tell them that she was used as daddy's sex toy and generally got fucked up, but she has some OTHER defining characteristic that nobody else has seen.

FuryFowler · 02/08/2015 22:40

Think I'm done. Not going to bother with S2 :/..... #disappointed

SoupDragon · 02/08/2015 22:45

I thought Mia's eyes have been changing colour on secpveral occasions. Sometimes they are bright synth green and sometimes not.

I was also really disapponted with the ending - a bit of a damp squib.

SouthWestmom · 02/08/2015 22:47

Trolls that's where it all gets silly for me. It's trying to be carry too many messages. If she was created as an 'adukt mode' toy then the age she has been in existence for is irrelevant and trying to make some statement or hint of child abuse is really clumsy for the programme to handle. I think it's too blurred now anyway, they are just green eyed humans against the state.
I think S2 can live without me.

SouthWestmom · 02/08/2015 22:48

Trolls Grin Trills!

Furball · 02/08/2015 22:59

I'm disappointed too, it was all abit flat

Niska to me never looked or acted like a synth the way the others do - apart from Karen. The other ones had a look that Niska and Karen didn't, so it was hard to put them in the synth category at times.

I know they were the rebels of the group, with their own agendas but there was nothing synth like about then about them at all, which I don't know if that was bad acting on their part or the way of showing us that they were actually virtually human. I think a synth stare from them occasionally would have been more inline with synth things?
