OK, after freaking the bejaysus out of me with the weird trailer / advert I am intrigued and looking forward to giving this programme a viewing.

(I will have to record and watch later as I will be watching Messrs Strange and Norrell.)

Anyone else looking forward to it and hoping it lives up to the hype?

I don't think in RL it's normal no, age gaps at 15 are frowned on.
The age thing I really don't get. It doesn't work for me, as they act older and like adults, able to manage in public alone, but then we are meant to remember they are just children. I'm sure there's a metaphor in there but it just doesn't work.

Matty looks like she's in sixth form to me. 17 or 18.

She was worried about jobs and her future.

We're too used to seeing 20 year olds playing 15 year olds.

I thought Matty was about 17 too. Did she drive the car initially when she stole Anita to take her to Leo?

I think Leo is only about 20 from when we tried to work it out earlier - he died at 13 and all the synths were already there. Niska is 9, with Max being younger, so he must be less than 22.

I agree that Matty is at least 17. She was driving and I would have thought her younger brother was about 15/16.

I love the actress who plays Anita. I also love Jack Whitehall. Was surprised to discover they've been a couple since 2011. His act is always about being single :/

I thought we saw a flash back, and David Elster made Karen to replace his wife after she killed herself, but Leo didn't like her/got really distressed, so David took Karen (Beatrice?) out to the woods to destroy her, but he couldn't do it. That's when he realised he had gone too far; he returned to his lab and smashed all the things, then killed himself.

Prob worth watching all 10 again now we know what they all are and see if can spot signs

Leo's voice is very sexy. Much more so than his natural Irish one.
It was a moving episode - George's death was just beautiful iykwim.
Interested to see where it will go - perhaps Karen will turn good and save them all and they will go to Synth Island and partay.

I love her too. Jack Whitehall? seriously? He's done well! I hope Gemma Chan gets loads more work after this. She is brilliant.

Who was in the picture at the school that the male detective was looking at??? We paused it but couldn't tell. Hubby thinks Niska.
Well I guess the good thing about not being able to watch until tonight means there are only 5 days until the next one...

I thought the school picture was just some random girl who didn't look at all like Karen - I assumed Karen had stolen a dead girl's identity as a way of surviving in the human world.

I found it odd that she should hate sentient synths so much that she wants to kill herself but I guess her creator allegedly killed himself after creating her & her best friend while pretending to be human was majorly anti-synths, it's not surprising she's a bit messed up! She must be the youngest out of all of them but clearly programmed to have sexual feelings - it's no surprise she's a bit confused!

Re the picture, a girl who looked nothing like Karen. The girl died the year after the photo was taken and Karen took her identity.

I don't really understand this falk of Niska being 9....when she was created she wouldn't have been like a human baby and unable to do anything would she? So of course she will be different to a human 9 year old.

I agree TweeBee. She was created to be an adult. Just as Mia/Anita was created to be Leo's nanny, so from day 1, she was mature enough to look after a child. Not the same as human age.

The actress playing Mia is incredibly beautiful isn't she? It made me smile when one of the synths said 'our father didn't think bodies were important so made us all to look different'. He obviously thought they were quite important as all the synths are very good-looking. Although Fred has questionable taste in jumpers.

I think they were made to learn through experience though weren't they? Rather than being created all knowing right from the start. They would only have X years of experience so wouldn't be fully adult.

I might be confusing this with the boy robot in Extant though!

Niska is not like a human 9 year old but also not like a human 25 year old. And she is a bit messed up. I'm glad she got to have some fun playing with Sophie.
