Well in the books they just locked up Ghost somewhere to give themselves a clear run at it, so to speak.

But as for the TV series God knows. Seemed a bit crap not to have one shot of Ghost going nuts in a crate, like when Rob was killed.

Lweji · 16/06/2015 22:39

Sansa and Theon jump was like when people actually want to survive, feet first, not how people throw themselves to die. So, it makes sense that they have landed safely on something soft.

NoStannisNo · 16/06/2015 23:03

Oooh, just read an interesting theory on that blink gossip link up thread:

Melisandre knows that Stannis is not 'the one', its Jon (don't know whether she has known this all along or just since she met Jon). So she tricked Stannis into killin Shireen, knowing that his army would be weakened by many men deserting over it, and that Stannis would realise he had done a terrible thing and 'give up', which he sort of did - he looked very resigned didn't he?

Paving the way for Jon Snow (who she will have to raise from the dead but conveniently she has gone to the wall!)

deadwitchproject · 16/06/2015 23:11

Finally watched it tonight. Blimey. Will have to digest and come back tomorrow I think.

JasperDamerel · 16/06/2015 23:39

My theory is that Jon Snow will be resurrected, but that his personality will be fundamentally different. He will lose his compassion and will become a ruthlessly efficient leader.

SarfEasticatedMumma · 17/06/2015 07:37

I despair of Sansa really, she's a bit wet isn't she. I don't think Stannis is dead, and I think that Jon Snow will be brought back by the Maelisandra.
I think Danaerys will be fine with the Dothraki, but not sure why she dropped her ring like that? Very happy to see Varys though - always good value.

ChaiseLounger · 17/06/2015 07:55

I assumed she dropped her ring to enable her to be found by the 2 who had just left on horses to search fur her.

SarfEasticatedMumma · 17/06/2015 08:00

Ahh - yes - good point. I thought maybe it identified her in some way, and that she needed to hide who she was.

NoStannisNo · 17/06/2015 08:07

Yes, I couldn't figure out why she dropped the ring either. It could be to help the others find her, although she doesn't known they are looking for her and also she could have gone for absolutely miles on that dragon. If it identifies her, then surely the bright blonde hair and the um, dragon, might be more of an identification than the ring?!

Vivacia · 17/06/2015 08:26

The way the direwolves have been treated in both the books and programme is just perplexing.

Fiderer · 17/06/2015 09:28

The dragon was a bit weedy I thought. I admit I was hoping Jon Snow would eventually become a dragon rider and flame the White Walkers and now he's dead I may be trying to compensate somewhat.

But really - a few puffs at the Harpy lot, wincing and groaning at a couple of spears in his dragonhide, a couple of meaty meals and now he's all puffed out?

gingercat12 · 17/06/2015 09:45

I think the dragon fight was meant to show how how useless dragons are in hand to hand combat. Their strengths lie more in being a deterrent and a symbol. They can win in a surprise attack, though.

gingercat12 · 17/06/2015 09:49

I felt that D&D was trolling readers with the Sansa storyline. A significant section of readers expect her to go from pawn to player (not me personally), and it is obviously not happenning in the show.

deadwitchproject · 17/06/2015 09:59

I was hoping Sansa would throw the kennel keeper's daughter over the side but was a bit shocked when Theon actually did it. I felt sorry for her then as she's as much a victim as of Ramsey as Sansa is.

Annarose2014 · 17/06/2015 10:28

Honestly I really think the whole fantasy that Sansa will go from being pawn to player is just fanwanking. Cos there's been just as little evidence for it in tbe books as on the show. So in that way her characterisation has been pretty consistent. In the books she just hung around waiting for other people to make decisions about her life also.

And I don't think GRRM has ever hinted Sansa will become a badass. I suspect Sansa is his example of how powerless women in those positions were. Its a fair point, its just bloody annoying to watch.

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 17/06/2015 10:55

I think Dany dropped the ring because she wants to present herself as a Dothraki widow, not remarried.

Lweji · 17/06/2015 11:50

She is a double widow, though. (did she actually marry the 2nd?)

Vivacia · 17/06/2015 11:50

She could have hidden it in that case. I thought that she did it to lay a trail, evidence that she was there.

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 17/06/2015 11:53

That's true. I'm not sure she did marry him in fact, and at first I did think she dropped it to lay a trail, but as someone said earlier wouldn't it be obvious by the large pile of burnt bones right near where she is?

Sansarya · 17/06/2015 11:54

Lweji, she marries Hizdahr in the books but in the TV series I think they were only engaged when he was killed. I assumed she dropped the ring to leave a trail too, although I'm not sure I'd count on it still being there by the time Jorah the Explorah arrives.

yumyumpoppycat · 17/06/2015 11:57

Jorah the explorer Grin

yumyumpoppycat · 17/06/2015 12:00

They probaby will find the ring but realistically what is the chance of it being found by someone looking for her. I thought it was symbolic of moving on to next challenge with Dothraki and leaving Mereen behind.

JasperDamerel · 17/06/2015 12:01

Anyone who walked past the ring and noticed it would pick it up to sell, whereas the evidence of dragon is far easier to spot, surely?

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 17/06/2015 12:04

Maybe she's trying to say "the trail ends here, because I was taken from this spot." Or something? And then they can track the horse poo. Confused
