Finally got round to watching (avoiding spoilers and this thread!) and here’s what I thought:
After a slow season, it really picked up the pace but felt like they were leaving lots of cliffhangers.
Jon Snow – noooo, I knew he was a goner when Olly called him to come out, but where was Ghost?! Maybe they did lock him away but think that should have been showed. I think if in the books his last word was “Ghost” and it wasn’t in the series, then I don’t think that will be part of the storyline. Agree it may be the Red Witch that brings him back, or maybe he is just gone for good…
Stannis – thought it was a bit silly that every one else was dead and he somehow was still alive. Normally GoT is not that predictable…we didn’t see him die and I think that means he is still alive as they are never normally shy of showing gory deaths, and thought they might relish showing his after what he has done. If he is still alive, then why would Brienne spare him?
Dany – I thought she got rid of the ring as it showed she was wealthy/important and she wanted to appear a nobody, at that point did she know who was approaching (as I didn’t work out they were Dothraki). She’ll be okay, but how far away is she?! The landscape looked very green – didn’t seem like Dothraki country.
Sansa and Theon – I cheered when Theon “came back” and got rid of Miranda! Think they will be okay as it was deep snow and they gave each other a look of “yes lets jump, we can do this”.
Cheered too when Arya attacked Meryn! Nasty old paedo…not sure what is going to happen to her and found that whole stripping away the masks creepy.
Cersei looked hot, body double or not. I actually felt a bit sorry for her and thought the scene was really long but I suppose it was to show her complete humiliation. Where the hell is Tommen though?! Why is he not doing anything about any of this – he is the king ffs! Cersei will sort it out for herself though with the help of the Mountain.
Marcella – barely even noticed her death tbh, she is not a major character in herself but what she represents in terms of the prophecy and how Cersei will blame Jaime is important, and also how it affects relations with Dorne.
