Thought I was on to something at lunchtime. Needed to take some parcels to the post office and parked behind a brand new '15 plate black Range Rover. As I was collecting my parcels together, the door opened and a pair of combat trousers and boots got out. Just as I was getting palpitations in anticipation, the rest of him appeared - an old guy with a manky green army-type jumper and a baseball cap. Looked at least 70. Ilove's heart rate slowed down in record time! Definitely no CJ lookalike there!

Kelly once you've played the "Have you watched OG" script with various strangers, you need to see how many OG phrases you can drop into conversation. We had great fun with that in the early days. "Ditto" was a particularly good one as was "above and beyond". I never felt very comfortable saying "Wait out" though, but I think a few of the ladies adopted that one.

Watching James Mcavoy doing the bedtime story on cbeebies - wish it was BA, but still a decent contender for jack-off-anory Grin

Richtea19 · 09/06/2015 19:01

jen is that the Little Red Riding Hood story? It was on last week and I recorded it. I've got it on "keep" in case someone deletes it!!! Something rather lovely hearing "hello I'm James and I'm going to read you a bedtime story"!!!!!! My kids said it was weird me watching it seeing has my children are 13 and 16!!!

Onlygirljen · 09/06/2015 19:23

rich no it was the dinosaur that pooped a planet - he must have recorded more than one. I used the 2 year old as a solid excuse when hubs walked in from work with a raised eyebrow Grin

WHAJEB1 · 09/06/2015 19:24

It would be so much better though if it was 'I'm James, Captain James, and I'm going to tuck you in and read you a bedtime story' Grin

Onlygirljen · 09/06/2015 19:39

'With my tongue' yes I know, too far BlushGrin

pixieg1rl · 09/06/2015 19:54

I'll be watching that on iplayer tonight then

WHAJEB1 · 09/06/2015 20:48

jenGrinGrin

orphan · 09/06/2015 21:34

Mmm, "I'm James, Captain James. I'm going to read you a bedtime story... so plump up your icebergs pillows and make room for me in bed..." would be a Jackoffanory line I'd like to hear.

Nickel45 · 09/06/2015 22:03

Like the sound of that orph Grin

whaj just read your latest chapter ... oh my, what are you doing to me! Can't wait to the next chapter .... no pressure!!!

icemistOBE · 09/06/2015 22:10

There's a James McAvoy lookalike in my building Smile but sadly I've yet to see a BA lookalike yet Sad

I heard someone say 'ditto' the other day, I then mentioned rosabaya (quite easy to start a convo about coffee) but alas there was no little smile or acknowledgement of OG

kelly - I don't know about this first time writer lark, seems to me that you are a pro at this! What a fantastic chapter. So looking forward to seeing where you are taking us with this ... please don't worry about long chapters, I love long chapters me, when they are as wonderful as this. Imagine falling into CJ on the train .... anyway ..... Just as well pixie wasn't reading that on her journey into work yesterday! Mind, if I had a CJ on the train, I wouldn't mind a daily commute up to town again (I always seemed to end up sat next to men who thought they needed to take up three quarters of the seat, or had massive great big newspapers!).

KellyHb · 09/06/2015 23:31

Thanks so much Nickel. The support is so nice from people. As soon as the kids were in nursery and school I was on it typing away for a good few hours. I haven't got a plan as such but I'll see where mind takes me ? Going to the metro centre tomorrow so I think ill work in a good few OGisms.. Most shop staff for some reason like to chat to me so when I hit them with words, they won't know what hit them. ?

Ilovelblue · 10/06/2015 00:45

Not a good idea to be up so late when there's work the next morning (ok, so about 8 hours from now). Visitors fed, watered and dispatched but not been able to settle really after they went. All the food disappeared in double quick time so I must have done something right and the rhubarb sponge was devoured with barely a crumb left.

Whajeb great chapter and very interested to see how you get them together (again). I know it will all work out in the end.

Kelly it really makes me laugh every time you mention Harpenden as I know it pretty well and can just imagine the walk down from the station into the town centre! My God, if I knew CJ would be on that train when I'm there in August, I would throw myself at his feet! Oh I forgot, this is only a story! (It feels so real though).

Really have to put the light out now.

Ilovelblue · 10/06/2015 00:47

PS: always room for CJ in my bed, whether he's reading stories or wanting to do something more energetic!

orphan · 10/06/2015 08:03

Morning! Just checking in before I get down to the Dance the Tide reading jen and BK I hold you responsible for this

whaj please, please update soon. I'm absolutely gripped by your wonderful angst ridden story. I'm so intrigued as to what actually happened at the hearing. What exactly did Molly say?

kelly call me biased, but I'd far rather have CJ than Trevor Howard and I'd prefer any encounter to be lengthy rather than brief...Smile

icemistOBE · 10/06/2015 08:20

Morning. Battling with 5yo to get dressed is getting ridiculous now.

Just popping up to say quick Hello! Welcome to newbies and 'ditto' on the fab ff's!
I stayed in Harpenden for first time in Feb as have friends who moved there a couple of years back, lovely place, lots of coffee shops!
Going to Trafford Centre today looking for wedding outfit, (just burnt a croissant which is why I shouldn't type on here!) Was supposed to start new job this week but start date out back due to some problems their end, ah well, weather lovely, I'll cope. Have a good day everyone.

BK28 · 10/06/2015 08:47

Morning all! Just off to Nottingham to extract DS from student digs...nearly as taxing as getting the little people up and out!!! He has been told we won't be doing the packing up...in reality probably will...although the girlfriend had been round to help??!!

orph enjoy your day in dance the tide...just don't beat yourself up when you realise nothing was achieved in RL!!!

Nickel45 · 10/06/2015 09:05

mummyr fab news on the new job! Congrats. Hope they sort a new start date soon.

ice my tried and test method of dealing with not getting dressed ... Don't bother arguing, tell them they are going in whatever they are wearing, but they have to explain to the teacher while they are still in their pyjamas/pants/nothing at all .... And follow it through .... we've never got past the front gate! But if they won't get changed take a change of clothes with you and let the teacher deal with it (sorry to all to teachers), but bet you'll never have to do it again!! Good luck x

icemistOBE · 10/06/2015 09:23

Going to ring teacher to say he wouldn't be in school as he wouldn't get dressed worked. But have noted the pyjamas as it's worked before.

Must read Dance with Tide, I keep finding really long 50sog that I can't put down.

cjwoofwoof · 10/06/2015 09:29

Morning! Ditto Nick my DS wouldn't get dressed for school once so my DH (Parent of the Year 1998) threatened to drag him down to school in just his pyjamas and leave him there. He never tried it again but has needed counseling ever since He did however resort to locking himself in the bathroom AFTER his Dad had gone to work a few times when he was about nine years old. Cunning little bleeders aren't they ice ?

Thanks to whoever it was who recommended Dance the Tide. Decided two inches of dust on furniture is the new black, plus putting the family on the Microwave Meals diet is a healthy option Hmm

I blame orphan

icemistOBE · 10/06/2015 09:50

Just read the first chapter of Dance..., it's fantastic. Hooked already

OP posts:
pixieg1rl · 10/06/2015 09:54

Yes, I'm about 7 chapters into DTT. I really shouldn't be reading it, I have more work than I can cope with plus I'm so so so close to finishing Nyota. I was hoping to get it up this weekend, but now all bets are off.

orphan · 10/06/2015 09:57

woof glad you've caught the DTT bug, but is it bringing back memories of that straight to bargain bucket film we starred in years ago, 'Cape Cod Piece'? Sadly, it was filmed not in Falmouth, Massachusetts, but Cleethorpes. The budget barely stretched to battered saveloys for the catering, never mind transatlantic location.
