Oh and am a bit Sad cos I didn't even make the interview stage for the job I applied for. Do you think I shouldn't have put that I have experience of kilt fitting and am expert at placement of dirks?

cjwoofwoof · 18/05/2015 09:28

Oh that's a shame orph - their loss. They never know when they might require an expert kilt fitter and dirk placer and now they've let you slip through their fingers. Shall I send Rupert round to give you a shoulder or something of your choice to lean on?

Nickel45 · 18/05/2015 09:54

Morning everyone :) Finally caught up, busy weekend on here! orph sorry to hear you didn't get an interview :( They obviously don't know what they are missing.

What did KD put on his original A/N? Think I missed something. I agree re the new ff of his. It's OK. I do think I read his now with a bit of hesitation (that isn't the word I want, but my brain isn't quite working yet!), due to how much his comment previously annoyed me, but even so, we do have much, much better ff's (which will be the ones from the authors on here!). I have to say, the ff's from you guys leave me wanting more every time! I only read KDs just before we went to school and I have already forgotten what it was about!

I have to confess, I have wondered whether the Daniel Darcy one was actually written by KD, or even if KD and DD are the same person (ooh, bit of controversy first thing in the morning). I know the person publishing it is a different person on FB (well, has a different name and picture on FB) ... and I realise that he/they are possibly reading this ... but it was very strange how KD disappeared and DD appeared immediately after, and seems to be really into OG - but wasn't around for the first six months or so or however long it was.

Anyway, now I have stuck my oar in the stirring pot (or whatever!) I will go back to the tip that is my house (DH done nothing over the weekend - he had littlie to look after, so apparently couldn't do anything else ... lots of tongue biting done this morning on my part ... not as attractive as lip biting of the CJ kind), get the washing done (no clean uniforms for the kids) and clear some space before the kids get back from school. After I have had a coffee!!!

Onlygirljen · 18/05/2015 10:07

Sorry to hear that orphan, they are obviously missing out. I think a session with rupert is in order to cheer you up Smile

nickel you survived the camping! How did it go? I know the feeling about tongue biting, my hubs considers watching the kids as the only task he needs to carry out whilst in the house. Obviously the cleaning, washing, ironing fairies do the rest Hmm

KeziaOAP · 18/05/2015 11:05

Morning all, very wet morning here after a lovely weekend. Sorry about job orphan, long time since I applied for a job but still remember the feeling of rejection Sad.

Ilovelblue · 18/05/2015 11:06

My sympathies orphan. It's their loss. You should have put on your CV that you are also Mistress of the Euphemism. That would have made them sit up. (Unless you were going to work in a convent or something equally straitlaced).

Nickel think we all agree with you re Daniel Darcy/klipdoctor. I also think somebody had put something like this in his reviews and it had been removed. If it's not the same person, I think KD must have mentored DD.

As we all know, men cannot multi-task. Your DH demonstrates all the telltale signs, sadly. Did the cubs enjoy themselves?

The window man came around 10.30 and it's bloody freezing with two big panes out and the wind whistling through. At least it's stopped raining for the moment anyway.

The trouble with working from home (euphemism or not) is that it's an excuse to do all the jobs I should have done over the weekend and either ignored or didn't have time to do. Just realised how dusty everywhere is. I also end up eating as well to kill the boredom working on my own.

May go and offer to make him a brew - excuse to have another coffee and a biscuit.

KeziaOAP · 18/05/2015 11:15

ilove coffee and biscuit what a lovely idea, supposed to be de-cluttering sorting out cupboards, no...... catching up on here and reading ff yes Grin.

Rhubarb01 · 18/05/2015 11:27

Morning. Sorry about the job orphan. It's frustrating when that happens. You want to say, "I know I could do that all you need to do is meet me, you don't even know me!"

I'm pretty sure KD and DD are not the same person. I don't know if you've looked at DD's profile but there's reference on there to assistance from other FF authors. He is a big Jane Austen fan which is nice to hear from a man. I think he's someone who really enjoyed OG and like the rest of us took their time to work up the courage to post. It's a bit of a nerve-wracking "oh shit!" moment when you hit that post button the first time or on any new story or something you're not sure about. Its just that the timing was straight after reviewgate. I also think he does have a man's style like KD hence the similarities if that's possible. Am I just being sexist here? I think that when women write CJ even with his faults, we often make him the way we would like a man to think, feel and behave. I hold my hand up to that! What else is fiction for?

BK28 · 18/05/2015 11:38

Just got back from a wifi free weekend and catching up with all your of antics!! The DH managed to organise a romantic anniversary break complete with wine and chocolates, fluffy bath robes and chocolate covered strawbs. Nearly caused an OMG choking when he uttered "I expect this is the standard of service CJ would have provided"
I know he knows about my CJ obsession but has he been reading over my Shockshoulder!!!
Anyway it was a wonderful weekend!!!

woof being a child of the 70's I had failed to remember that you were also a star of the gymnastic world - it must have been hard for you being up against Olga!!

Just caught up with the latest ff chapters and have to agree with painted and orphabout Klips latest effort - treading carefully with regard to commenting - don't want to be responsbible for another out of control moment!!
greenstuff puts out some really quality stuff and is really prolific!!

Hi Nickel at least it was dry, hope you have all survived and had a good time!! Bet you enjoyed that glass of cold stuff last night!! Wine

Nickel45 · 18/05/2015 11:58

That's true rhu, I suppose the way men write is different to women ... I shouldn't have thought of that!! And it probably was just incredibly bad timing which led him to join in just as KD left. Have to say, what made me think of it most, though, was on FB he went on a bit about people reviewing OG on Amazon, and it was very reminiscent for me of KD when he wanted reviews. But it probably just is the way men do things!!!!

Completely right about women writing about CJ the way we want him, but isn't that the great thing about a fictional character :) :) :)

jen camp was dirty, knackering, and hard work ... but really, really good! And the kids absolutely loved it, got very dirty and wet and exhausted, but then we sent them home for the parents to deal with! By all accounts most of them were asleep by about 7 pm, if not before! Mind, I was asleep by 7.30!

Pics of my mess tent (bit of a mess!!), and my DS going up the "leap of faith". It must have been at least as high as a telegraph pole, and they have to climb up, stand on the top and jump over to a bar a few foot away. No idea how he did it, but SO proud of him!!

Your weekend sounds lovely BK. Love the CJ moment. Did you respond to your husband's comment?

The window man has finished so I am going to go into work this afternoon otherwise I will have eaten the entire contents of the fridge. At least in the office I only have a tin of digestive biscuits to tempt me. Here at home not only do I have the fridge to tempt me but constant access to this thread and the ff!

Ilovelblue · 18/05/2015 12:10

Nickel I'm not frightened of heights but I wouldn't want to attempt that. I think kids know no fear!

BK28 · 18/05/2015 12:23

ilove I didn't quite choke but as the room came with a four poster bed and balcony in my head I had the expectation that he needed to behave in exactly the way we know CJ would, but I couldn't really say that... but after 23 years he can still surprise me!!! As I said it was a wonderful weekend!! The comment was that blend of the real world meets the CJ surreal world!!

Have to admit the fluffy dressing gowns also made me think of Pretty Woman, but in some fanfic there have been plenty of hotel/spa action ... really think I have just lost the plot with R/L.

Wow Nickel Gold Star for the mess tent!! Glad you had a good time .. I'm now praying for a dry weather for this weekend!! Would love some feedback on the site as always on the lookout for good places to go.

Ilovelblue · 18/05/2015 12:29

BK I know what you mean about RL meeting our surreal CJ world. I felt the same in Edinburgh - not with the bedroom I hasten to add - but after all our discussions about kilts etc, then seeing the shop Jen had said would be where the kilt fitting took place and eating in the restaurant which I could just imagine CJ picking for one of his dates with Molly. I have most definitely lost the plot.

Pretty Woman - well, I wouldn't kick Richard Gere out of bed and he is more my age than CJ/BA!!

cjwoofwoof · 18/05/2015 12:45

Ooh Nickel I doff my tricorn hat to you, you are the stuff of courage and enthusiasm that gives our little ones those childhood happy memories which their own parents totally fail at I'm in awe of anyone who not only camps, but takes responsibility for other people's little bleeders and feeds them too, so Star Star Star to you.

And get you BK - you'll be telling us it was magical next. Totally Envy of you and your weekend. The most romantic my DH gets is to allow me an hours use of the TV remote, on a Monday, when there's no football or Top Gear to watch - I know, lucky is not the word definitely not the word Angry And I'm not surprised you don't remember my gymnastics era; Olga was always the sweetheart whilst I was the butch hairy one carrying the pommel horse (no, not orphan)

pixieg1rl · 18/05/2015 12:53

Off work today trying to break the back of ff and watching my OG dvd (its been months) currently on episode 4 and I cannot take Morely seriously after zombiegirl. DS at nursery. It would be a lovely way to spend the day if it didn't feel like someone had taken a cheese grater to my throat.

icemistOBE · 18/05/2015 12:58

OG has finally won an award

Wow nickel it would need the belief in miracles for me to attempt that pole leap.

ilove how did you know I was applying for Mother Superior at the Convent of Lost Causes?

Oh well, as you all guessed Rupert was the first on hand to kiss better my hurt pride and he has some very interesting ideas of where my pride might be located.

How lovely that your husband understands just how important CJ is in your life BK. So I suppose he'd already packed the blowup CJ suit? Wink

orphan · 18/05/2015 13:04

woof best not mention the pommel horse. Isn't there still some ongoing court case against you? Your swivelling, whilst innovative, was also deemed a contravention of the international gymnastics code.

orphan · 18/05/2015 13:05

And broke the laws in several countries.

BK28 · 18/05/2015 13:14

pixie sorry to see you are under the weather - I revisited Ep 2 the other day, just need to hear their voices again - I'm always amazed at the quality of MD/LT's diction, which is often lost in the ff world where often the Cockney writing almost creates her as being really thick, which she is not.

woof don't get too jealous - I had to book the hotel, but left huge hints about the romantic gestures - he just about got away with it by organising the extras, as he had failed to get a card! I'm married to an engineer so often it is process over romance, but hey being able to do DIY is preferable over flowers every week!! But it could nearly be described as magical!!Grin

ilove However I do wonder if all our wonderful descriptive writers have raised our level of expectation in certain quarters, but our DH /DP are not aware of what is expected of them!!! Wink I agree Richard Gere would certainly not be turned away!!

Onlygirljen · 18/05/2015 13:16

Well done to Mr BK! Reckon he could give my DH some romance tips? His idea of a romantic getaway is nowhere near as lovely!

There are certain scenes in the series that were beautifully shot eg Rosabaya and the moment in the bunker. Very well deserved award IMO.

Onlygirljen · 18/05/2015 13:19

BK I agree re Molly's diction. I sometimes struggle to get my head round some of the fics where she is written as overly cockney. So hard to get an accent over when you're writing though, it's tricky to get a balance Hmm

BK28 · 18/05/2015 13:31

jen you might be holding your breath for hints and tips - after 23 years I think in all honesty I can count the romantic gestures on one or two hands... but when it does happen he does it well!!

I recognise orphan that perhaps I am lucky that MrBK actually really enjoyed OG and made me promise not to watch the catchup of Ep 5 without him!! Plus it is still stored on the media player, actually it is locked down so can't be deleted!! He has become aware of FF and MN and he will occasionally enquire as to what is going on... general reply is along the lines of not much, you wouldn't understand, dear!!!

BK28 · 18/05/2015 13:40

jen that's where my hat goes off to all of you who write ff!
Being able to create a persona with the right voice, depicting emotions with the right nuance, gestures etc , because you obviously aren't wanting to create a charicature is a real talent!!

Glad to see that OG is still out there on the creative radar and this award just shows that it hasn't died and faded away - perhaps this might help a revisit with Series 2 - although after all our parallel sojourns with ff will it meet our needs, not sure. But BA on the TV for 13 weeks in low slung combats will always be something to look forward too!!
