Looks to be a nice day here, pity I've got to work.

Morning all. Have to confess that I haven't really been to bed apart from a quick snooze on the sofa thanks to election watching which was strangely addictive. However, all is not well in Rhubarb Land today as I am irrationally annoyed at the loss of our Lib Dem MP by a very narrow margin. He's been a really good local MP for the last eighteen years and for some reason I am quite put out about it.

On top of that I plucked up the courage a couple of weeks ago to apply for a proper job - I'm currently self-employed doing something I don't like out of necessity rather than choice - and got rejected yesterday.

Just to add to it my two youngest - who are twins - lied about going to the park nearby to meet their friends after tea last night (they are old enough to go out) and instead took themselves off on a walk to the local Shopping Centre a mile away where my son spent £50 of his own money on a computer games card. They thought we wouldn't find out but DH found it and got emails about my DS spending it. Naturally talks about dishonesty and irresponsibility followed with DS wailing and me trying to stop DH shouting too much whilst DD tried to stick up for him and I'm now wondering what sanctions to apply to the main offender and his partner in crime. So all in all not too chuffed this morning.

Ilovelblue · 08/05/2015 07:31

Apologies in advance to Jen and Whajeb but no English election coverage on this TV in the apartment so had to resort to my phone. Thank goodness that's it for another 5 years. Are you tired pixie?

Also in RL, we are off to the Royal Yacht today. My friend has never been though I've been twice before. I loved it.

Ilovelblue · 08/05/2015 07:38

Back to CJ, this super king sized bed is perfect for nocturnal activities and taking the kilt off was a good starting point. He says he's going to wear it again this morning on our way to meet our two favourite tape measurers.

Perhaps BA will be free for other projects in the UK - anything come to mind. I have to say it sounded a bit weird anyway. I'm not sure it would have made his name for him.

Onlygirljen · 08/05/2015 07:52

Ouch - not good news for BA. Take it that means the pilot will never be aired?

Onlygirljen · 08/05/2015 07:57

rhubarb sympathies on the job and kids front. My DH has been applying for jobs recently (he has one at the moment, but the long commute is killing him), and he's not been having much luck. Even worse than the rejections are the places that don't even respond. He's applied for a couple this week that he's hopeful about, but you can never tell with these things. Another opportunity will crop up for you, although I think you should be working on your debut novel instead!

icemistOBE · 08/05/2015 07:58

Wouldn't have thought so jen I'd have liked to have seen it as a series. Bit gutted for BA as its his 3rd pilot he's done. Tom Ellis looks like his pilot Lucifer (not BBC show remake) has been picked up though

Sorry to read about the job, hopefully something better will come along rhubarb don't know how you punish your son for that though.

Every cloud and all that ice. Here's hoping we get to see more of BA in the UK now.

The Witchery was lovely last night and pleased I got to go at last but the atmosphere was rather spoiled at one point when one of the American tables got out their phones to play back some videos they'd made earlier in the day... with sound. Very rude in my opinion in a full restaurant. The Japanese were much better behaved.

We had wild garlic soup to start then a passionfruit trifle to finish.

Oh poor BA. Maybe this is the message that he needs to concentrate on us programmes back here.

ilove I'm so dim that when I visited the royal yacht I actually thought the internal viewing windows in the bedrooms were originally there! I wondered out loud to the derision of other visitors 'Goodness they didn't have much privacy...'

Rhubarb01 · 08/05/2015 08:12

I suspect DS and to some extent DD as well will have removal of computer/tablet use for the weekend or something which will probably matter to them more than anything else. As this was discovered quite late yesterday they got a telling off before bed but I think I'll only announce the sanctions after they get back from school. I don't want any weeping or wailing before school. It's cheeky of me because I'll be at work and DH can be the big bad wolf again in their eyes!

orphan · 08/05/2015 08:16

Grrrr I'm fed up of using my phone for this thread - it's too fiddly. rhubarb I'd meant to say I'm so sorry about the job.

Ilovelblue · 08/05/2015 08:23

Big hug Rhubarb. Hope today's repercussions aren't too painful. XX

pixieg1rl · 08/05/2015 09:11

Urgh. So. Tired. Need tea IV.

Long night. We declared at 6, got home an hour later and straight to bed. I'll be dozing on the sofa while DS gets to watch DVDs all morning. Incumbent lost his seat and it's gone back to Labour after 10+ years as Lib Dem.

Ilovelblue · 08/05/2015 09:32

orphan and Richtea over to you now. Walking along to the main shopping area and CJ has been absolutely mobbed. He's loved it and played to the crowds! More of the actor and less of the officer about him today! I felt like his mother or his minder! The Americans were practically falling over him in their haste to have their photos taken with him in his kilt! They didn't rwalise his accent wasn't Scottish.

CJ is wandering around Princes Street so you will find him easily. Just follow his newly found fans. Over to you both.....

orphan · 08/05/2015 09:47

Just finishing final details ready for the measuring ilove so that I can come prepared.Grin

cjwoofwoof · 08/05/2015 10:17

Hmmm wandering around Princes St eh? Quickly grabbing Matthias' smock and catching the red-eye to Edinburgh right now...

cjwoofwoof · 08/05/2015 10:25

Feel for you Rhu, bad stuff always seems to happen at once. You must be due some good things to happen now. Try not to be too hard on the kiddies - it's their job to test your boundaries and I bet they're gooduns 99% of the time.

Brew Brew Brew for you pixie you deserve it for putting up with the pesky election counting

icemistOBE · 08/05/2015 12:14

BA has a role in something called Fleabag according to his agent/cv but no details of when it broadcast etc

OP posts:
orphan · 08/05/2015 12:19

Well I think it's fair to say richtea and I have our hands full. The measuring is going very well although CJ has been surprised at just how many detailed measurements are needed for a kilt fitting and he did query whether some of the more unusual measuring positions were needed. However he seemed reassured once we'd shown him our testimonials and he'd given them a thorough going over

The Bulge has proved slightly tricky for kilt pleat alignment but richtea's got the matter in hand well two hands actually at this very moment.

Rhubarb01 · 08/05/2015 13:25

Did some digging while having lunch. I think Fleabag is a comedy drama adaptation of a one woman show that started out at the Edinburgh Festival - how appropriate. It seems to be about a twenty something woman struggling with modern life. It looks as if BA's role is likely to be a bit part given that the character is called 'Guy you like'. Might be for the BBC?
