trying again to get into ER, end of Ep3 - i dont love it yet, how long did it take you to 'love it'?

I love Greys Anatomy and the Good wife......

Hmmm

Weaver actually came across better than Green on Jeanie's HIV story, although she was written as the bitch generally.

ER - when does it 'hook you'
cruikshank · 30/04/2015 21:03

Luka always looked/talked like he was chewing something. Maybe gum, or an old bit of toenail or whatever. Most off-putting.

Plus, he was a judgemental bastard.

mrsleomcgary · 30/04/2015 21:03

I remember being so excited when sky atlantic repeated the episode where Romano had his first run in with a helicopter, in my head there was an arm flying through the air,all bloody, in slow motion. Was quite disappointed when I saw it again!

Romano was one of my favourite characters. Yes he started off as a total prick but there was some heart there and underneath it all he was a nice guy (case in point where he signed to Bentons son). His battles with Kerry were brilliant.

The last episode, i think anyway, is the best final episode ever made. The way it started with Lydia waking up Morris (was it Morris?) in the on call room echoing the first scene of the first episode where she woke up Mark. And carter teaching Rachel the way Mark did him...it was perfect.

Did Pratt die? I can picture him on a gurney and everyone trying to save him, knowing they couldn't but not sure if I'm making it up! What happened?

siblingrevelryagain · 30/04/2015 21:23

Pratt did die-an ambulance exploded (with Steve buscemi in I think?), just as Abby and Luka got back together after she cheated on him with Stanley tucci.

BellMcEnd · 30/04/2015 21:25

Yes, Pratt died following a road accident (I think) My memory's a bit hazy but I seem to remember he appeared to be ok initially but then had some catastrophic bleed.

I also seem to remember Kerry Weaver dedicated a new gender reassignment unit to Romano as he'd been pretty foul to her at times and I think homophobic. She got the last laugh! I miss ER so much. My granny used to wind me up by calling it "Errrrrr." Really gave me The Rage

Gileswithachainsaw · 30/04/2015 21:30

I hated what they did to abby's character. She would never have cheated on Luka. and he should have been more forgiving after he married her then disappeared left her alone with a preemie baby. He was gone for months and she fell apart and made one mistake.

BippityBoppity · 30/04/2015 21:52

I can't find ER on Amazon Prime or Netflix - can I watch it anywhere else?

cruikshank · 30/04/2015 21:58

Pratt's death was one of the most horrific I've seen on telly. He got this massive swelling in his neck and had all blood coming out of his mouth and choking him. It wasn't just that though - although that was bad enough. It was the look on his face that told you he knew exactly what was happening, knew he was going to die, and knew they wouldn't stop it. It was awful.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 30/04/2015 22:08

Just watched the first episode, had to buy it on prime but worth it, now need to get Amazon tv so I can watch it on a bigger screen

Piffpaffpoff · 30/04/2015 23:19

Ah, I've just gone back and watched Carol and Doug reuniting. I now remember feeling exactly what someone else said upthread when it was on TV - that sense of "oh of course we'll not get to see him, definitely not. oh - hang on? Is it?? It is!!!!!" And then that kiss. That was a good ending.

Donatellalymanmoss · 01/05/2015 07:29

Re Ramarno and the first helicopter, IIRC it was heavily edited for the repeat and if you look on YouTube the original is still as you remember it.

MoustacheofRonSwanson · 01/05/2015 07:39

Loved it from the get go, but highlights from the first couple of seasons are imho
season one, episode 10, the blizzard - a rare quiet time in the ER and
season 2, episode 7, hell and high water- the episode with Doug Ross, a kid and a storm drain

Last year I watched the entire box set 3 times round back to back.

They don't make em like that any more.

Tootyfilou · 01/05/2015 08:35

Best tv show ever. I also still tear up thinking about Marks death, and the 'you set the tone' momment
Rewatched it recently on Sky Atlantic its still superb. Too many fabulous and sad moments yo mention. Got the theme tune as my ringtone Smile.

magicstar1 · 01/05/2015 09:03

I remember it first time around, then Sky Atlantic showed every episode and I made DH watch them all with me. The day after it finished, they started again from episode 1, and we watched them all again lol. I adored Dr. Ross...when he found the footprint on the little girl's back and went for the father - wow. I have my faves saved on the Sky box and watch them often...Hell and High Water, the one where Luca carries Carol when she goes into labour, Sand & Water. I can't watch the Mark/beach episode without crying, and Pratt's death kills me every time.
The more I watch it, the more I love Romano too.

IsabellaofFrance · 01/05/2015 09:33

There are so many sad moments.

The intern who jumped in front of the train
The woman who blew herself up in her car outside the ambulance bay
Greg's death.

There is an episode where Miranda from SATC plays a woman who has had a stroke, with a voice over of what she is trying to say in her head which is really, really moving.

hawthornknitter · 01/05/2015 12:20

We have rewatched up to season 10 recently - it really stands up to the test of time. The technology might be a bit dated but the stories and acting are still excellent. Think we'll have to invest in the rest of the box sets - got some from Oxfam, some from the library, bought a couple but have come to the end of the stash now. No option now but to buy the rest. Can't just leave it at that...

Piffpaffpoff · 01/05/2015 14:20

whispers imtv.cc

Just saying....

ILikeToClean · 01/05/2015 15:16

I’m feeling a tad obsessed with re-watching it now. Might buy the box set…or where can I watch it free online? I read that Sky Atlantic lost the rights to it so won’t show it anymore.

The theme tune was amazing, and the whole opening credits with Carter nearly keeling over…that is one thing Grey’s lacks – has a crap theme tune!

hawthornknitter · 01/05/2015 15:53

Can't watch it online, in crappy mobile dongle broadband land and never enough data to get to the end of the month in comfort, and that's without downloading tv episodes.

Howaboutthisone · 01/05/2015 19:26

Omg yes Pratt's death. That was a massive tear jerker. His character had developed so much and I'd become so attached to him. I'm so going to have to buy them and make dh watch them with me!!!

DancingLola · 01/05/2015 20:36

ER is fantastic, definitely one of my favourite shows ever! I particularly like the earlier episodes with Doug & Mark. Such good story lines, and I loved how the characters all have their own flaws, make mistakes & don't always save everyone. As much as Romano was a bastard, they showed little chinks of humanity with him, especially towards Elizabeth, so I couldn't fully hate him. The same with Kerry, she was annoying but her relationship with Sandy softened her a bit.

Moln · 01/05/2015 21:03

Told DH that I want to watch ER again, he said he 'could bear to sit through it again'

LTB?

Panzee · 01/05/2015 21:25

Oh, god the intern who committed suicide. They were working on someone badly injured, they paged the intern and the beeper on the patient went off...it was him :o

Panzee · 01/05/2015 21:25

Oh no! That was supposed to be Shock

Moln · 01/05/2015 21:30

The way we're going on the OP won't need to watch any more episodes, she'll know them all!!
