esiotrot2015 · 29/04/2015 22:16

Hmmm yes Wednesday does ring a bell ! And was it friends then ER or the other way round ?!

Mama1980 · 29/04/2015 22:19

Immediately, I remember watching it years ago and staying in purposely to watch the next episode, not many shows I cared that much about.
Re watched it recently and think it's aged really well.
Thinking friends then er I seem to remember my brothers wrestling crap would come on as er did. Grin

Hillingdon · 29/04/2015 22:20

I loved ER. For me the VERY best eposide was when George Clooney came back. You saw him in the distance tying up his boat. Carol had gone to see him, there had been all sorts of rumours and by this time George was a real A lister.

I cheered when I saw it was HIM....

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 29/04/2015 22:43

Never got into Friends, DH liked it but I just didn't get it at all. ER on the other hand was completely unmissable, even when it went off the boil a bit a few seasons before the end.

cruikshank · 29/04/2015 22:53

Agree that it went off the boil but the last season was fucking brilliant.

Well, it was fucking brilliant for an ER nerd like me. OP, to answer your question, I loved it from the get-go but the one that really sealed the deal with me was Love's Labours Lost in the first series. If you've watched that, and watched the storm drain (swoon) one, then maybe it just isn't your series.

That's ok. We won't judge. Everyone likes different things.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 29/04/2015 23:16

Yes, the last season was amazing, back to it's brilliant best.

cruikshank · 29/04/2015 23:51

Very much agree, WhoKnows. And for the final episode of all, didn't they also have a bit of a re-hash of earlier stories but with different characters? For eg, the opening scene. (Hope that wasn't too spoilery.)

cruikshank · 29/04/2015 23:54

And Hillingdon, I remember watching that episode with my friends and we were all saying 'Well, of course, it can't be him.' 'He's too famous now.' 'Oh, hang on, they've got someone just like him.' 'He even moves like him.' 'Get closer GET CLOSER so we can see him.' 'It IS him IT'S REALLY HIM.'

Etc.

TheEagle · 29/04/2015 23:58

Oh I love ER! Watched every single episode again when I was pregnant with DS1. Watched the last ever episode just before we drove to the hospital.

I adore Dr. Carter, he was my first love Smile

I also love the Ewan McGregor episode!
The episode where Carol travels to be with Doug makes me bawl every time.

Loved the episode of Friends with Doug and Carter too.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh nostalgia.

DragonWithAGirlTattoo · 30/04/2015 10:20

i'm going to keep trying - i just see 15 seasons and think... that'll keep me going for AGES!!!

Mr Clooney just looks odd - those EYEBROWS!!!!

I love ER.

I watched it on Atlantic, but I first caught it a few seasons in and loved it. I watched the first season later on, and think that it gets better with time.

I would love to watch it now, right from the beginning.

How are you watching it OP? I wish they would show it on Netflix, the box sets are really expensive.

Moln · 30/04/2015 11:27

Watched the "50 most powerful er moments" on YouTube (the top 10 video is actually missing though!!

So many characters I'd forgotten!! Netflix needs to get it. NEEDS to I say!

There's a heap of series I missed due to surviving not owning a TV for a few years.

SeattleGraceMercyDeath · 30/04/2015 12:11

Only the most recent episode of US Grey's Anatomy has made me sob as much as the episode 'On the Beach' did of ER. Bloody love ER, if you can watch Loves labours lost and not think it's amazing then you probably have a heart of stone and need to give up now...

SeattleGraceMercyDeath · 30/04/2015 12:15

And Gants death in season 3 paved the way for the 007 episode of Grey's. Without ER, you can't have Grey's.

TheEagle · 30/04/2015 12:50

Very very true seattle

Moln · 30/04/2015 12:53

Don't think I've ever recovered emotionally from the episode 'midnight' in series 10.

Don't want to post a spoiler!

hairhelpplease · 30/04/2015 13:00

About 30 seconds. I loved that show.

SnotQueen · 30/04/2015 13:02

I love ER.
Loved Sally Field in it.
I really want to watch it all again! Waaaaaaaaa!

Gileswithachainsaw · 30/04/2015 13:04

I love love love ER. best tv show ever made

Lweji · 30/04/2015 13:07

I couldn't get hooked on Grey's Anatomy. Or the Good Wife.

I am watching it again from the start and I still like it a lot.

Part of it being good is that not everyone makes it. Life can be cruel.

Howaboutthisone · 30/04/2015 13:10

So many amazing stories balanced perfectly with development of the characters. I won't spoiler here at all but there are just so many amazing episodes!

ImperialBlether · 30/04/2015 13:12

Is Love Labours Lost the one where Dr Greene is stuck on his own with a woman in labour? If it is, that's the first one I saw - I was ironing when it was on and stood at the ironing board watching the rest of the show - I couldn't even move to put the thing away! Incredible.

TheEagle · 30/04/2015 13:55

moln, I was thinking of that episode as well!

Loves Labours Lost is the one where Dr. Greene mismanages the case of preeclampsia. It won a shedload of awards.

I loved the episodes with Alan Alda, particularly The Peace of Wild Thjngs. So moving.

TheEagle · 30/04/2015 13:55

Things not Thjngs grr

Forgetmenotblue · 30/04/2015 14:02

mrsleomcgary [sobs heart out] Poor Dr Greene. Loved him so much. Remember him from Top Gun as a teenager.
