And there I go again crying about Dr Greene, as was mentioned upthread.

Cannot even hear a ukulele without getting misty-eyed.

God I love ER.

I have the complete boxset, well worth the £100 spend. DH keeps trying to get me to sell it, but I'd save it if my house was on fire, bloody love ER! My favourite episode is 21 Guns, I remember watching it first time round and it's still just as gripping now and I've seen it dozens of times since! Also, as an aside, my DS's middle name is Mark....Blush

Gileswithachainsaw · 30/04/2015 14:37

poo Yes that's an amazing episode. Poor Luka when he has to lie there and watch abby collapse unable to move. and her nearly bleeding out while he's gone to see the baby.

and Sam. ..... when she shoots her ex after he kidnaps and rapes her all to save her son from.ever having him back in his life.

Cocolepew · 30/04/2015 17:36

From the first minute, it's my all time favourite programne. Im always checking in case Netflix puts it on.

Oops Blush

Betsyblue · 30/04/2015 17:44

ER is my all time favourite programme. I watched it all again while on maternity leave and in those early mammoth breastfeeding days last year and fell in love with it again.

I then moved onto the West Wing- a very, very close second place!

Panzee · 30/04/2015 17:44

I love ER. It's fantastic.

Except the Africa episodes. I never saw the point of those. (Also, "Africa". Quite a big place to go to, couldn't they narrow it down?). I always skipped those episodes.

I think it came back to life in the penultimate season, then the final season was on fire. Genius how they brought people back from the dead. :o

Possibly my favourite part was when Benton was trying to save his nephew. So powerful when he burst out, still covered in blood, and goes up to his sister

I also liked the early seasons how little things happened, wasn't there a junkie moaning, then the staff started humming along? Loved that :o

DoItTooJulia · 30/04/2015 17:47

Best TV ever. I posted in the box sets thread about it, but gave six feet under my number one spot. Maybe I need to revise it!

Loved Sally field in it too! In fact everyone was brilliant who was in it. Sobbed like a baby when it finished and actually mourned it for a while after.

My DH was my bf when it was in channel 4 on Wednesdays and I actually told him that he can come before 9 or after 10. Anytime between those times he wouldn't be let in. And I meant it.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 30/04/2015 17:49

Yay found it on amazon prime, that's me sorted for the next month

ILikeToClean · 30/04/2015 17:54

Loved ER from the first moment…

Takes me back to my single days, my friend would come over and we would watch it together after having fish and chips, or else we would call each other straight after it finished to discuss!

The Hawaii episode was the saddest thing ever, I sobbed…

Anyone remember the one where Dr Green was in the lift with a patient who had gone on some murderous rampage or something and he did the crash cart thing but NOT on the patient, just looked at him and did it in the air as he didn’t want to save him? Details are vague but I remember being really shocked! Didn’t a young intern die as well, some blonde girl who Carter found under a bed dying?

So many good characters, Benton, Carter, Hathaway, Romano, Abbie and Luka, and loved the fat porter guy and the nurses. Not to mention George!

Forgot Sally Field was in it too…love her. Really want to watch them all now from the beginning…and I don’t think I properly saw the last 2 seasons!? Not sure how that happened pre Sky+ and 2 dd’s born within 20 months probably

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 30/04/2015 18:34

Is the whole thing on Amazon Prime

siblingrevelryagain · 30/04/2015 18:36

My son's are called Luca and Joe. I was (and still am) obsessed with ER

TheEagle · 30/04/2015 18:41

iliketoclean, that guy in the lift had killed a load of people and was on his way to Mark's house to shoot Elizabeth and Ella - in revenge.

That episode paved the way for one of the season finales in Grey's where a murderous ex-patient swears revenge on Derek.

I bawled at the episodes where Lucy and Carter were stabbed! The guy who stabbed them has recently turned up in The Good Wife Shock

God I love ER! We used to discuss it to death in school the next day!

Howaboutthisone · 30/04/2015 18:42

Yes yes to the Benton's nephew episode. I really loved to development of Carter and Benton's relationship. And seeing them reunited later on. I won't say much about the blonde intern as I don't want to spoil it for people who are now discovering the wonders of the programme, but that episode and the following one were also AMAZING!

Howaboutthisone · 30/04/2015 18:44

Thanks the eagle- I knew I'd seen him somewhere before. Can't believe I couldn't place him. Must admit that I only started watching the good wife due to its ER link and am so glad I did!

Doobydoo · 30/04/2015 18:52

What Coco said,a few times! And i LOVE Dr Carter.... I LOVE him

Jackieharris · 30/04/2015 19:13

I didn't start watching it until the season Dr Greene died.

I then went back and watched the earlier ones.

I do prefer the earlier ones where it was more about hospital politics and the struggling careers of residents. (Based on Michael Criton's irl experience)

When all the main stars were attendings they lost that.

I really didn't like John stamos so stopped watching after he came in. I've seen some episodes a dozen times plus but have never seen the end.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 30/04/2015 19:15

Seems to be whoknows

IsabellaofFrance · 30/04/2015 19:17

I loved it from the beginning, but really loved it once Benton left, he was such a horrid sour puss!

NickiFury · 30/04/2015 19:17

One episode, at the end when Carol came back having tried to commit suicide Sad. I got goosebumps just remembering that. Apparently she was only supposed to be in that one episode but test audiences responded so well to her and wanting to know how it turns out for her that they wrote her a bigger part.

ER was the absolute best.

NickiFury · 30/04/2015 19:19

I know we were supposed to hate him but I loved Romano, he got the best lines.

ILikeToClean · 30/04/2015 19:21

TheEagle - yes that's right! And Lucy...couldn't remember her name or what she looked like but I can see her face clearly now Hmm

Sibling loving your commitment of naming your children after characters Smile.

I so want to watch it again...too many other TV commitments though (need to get a life Shock)

movinonup · 30/04/2015 19:24

I loved it from the start...It set the tone for all other dramas (real fans will see what I did there :) )
