I'm ready for Bethany to bugger off back to Italy now.

If she could take Les Dennis, Michelle, Tracey-Luv, Jazz-Hands, Chesney, Sinead, the chicken man and his entire family, and Rita I would be very grateful.

Would you really need a microphone in the Rovers? It's tiny!!

Very true. I've done the tour, and I know that is the old set, but yes, it is tiny! Grin

Am I alone in thinking that Alya, albeit a beautiful girl, is so dull a character, that she almost makes Gareh appear interesting, by comparison? I said almost... Grin

ProfYaffle · 27/06/2015 07:16

The baby storyline drove me mad. No mention of contact/access/shared cared etc I bet we see no more of her now til she returns as a teen for an 'explosive' storyline Hmm

DocHollywood · 27/06/2015 07:29

Wouldn't ss or other agencies be involved in a baby situation like this? Can the mother agree to hand her over and the 'new' parents just turn up and take her? Don't they have to be checked out at all and some paperwork produced? I would've thought Faye needed a professional opinion on whether this was her decision or just PND.

Poor Erica Hmm and poor Carla, now there's nothing stopping her getting together with boring old Nick. No wonder she's leaving.

AnguaResurgam · 27/06/2015 07:45

DocHollywood: yes of course they would be. Faye has always had a social worker (ex-LAC) and although they haven't been around much since Faye came home to the Windasses, they have appeared from time to time. Including once since the birth. Of course they should feature at the point Miley moved home.

A one of the enjoyable sides to Corrie was that it was accurate. Unfortunately that's not been true for years now. But I suppose one keeps hoping for slices of recognisable life (even if at rather a faster tempo than real life) rather than the huge mistakes and inaccuracies they pile in now.

AgathaChristie01 · 27/06/2015 08:57

I missed it, just saw Anna and Faye at the end. Is it temporary or has Miley gone for good to the other grandparents?
They don't 'do' children very well in Corrie. They must get left at Emily's a lot Wink. Poor Emily isn't getting any younger, it must be difficult minding them all. Grin

southeastdweller · 27/06/2015 09:38

Miley's gone to the other grandparents for good, Agatha.

I wonder how Erica will fit into the street now? I can't see her staying with Nick so she'll have to find some purpose...my sixth sense tells me she'll find a job on the street, perhaps next week? Most likely in the knicker factory. I've read Claire King's signed up until early next year.

Thanks southeast.
Another storyline just abruptly finished so. In a few weeks, there probably won't be a mention of Miley.
Yes, I had read that Claire King was staying a while. No doubt a job vacancy will magically open on the Street.
I thought Carla talking about losing the baby was really good. I am going to miss her, she is one of my favourite characters.

differentnameforthis · 27/06/2015 10:12

Thanks, SymphonyofShadows I didn't think..I was confused by those saying they were

cleanmachine · 27/06/2015 10:18

Alya is dull and the acting of that family is cringe. I am slightly warning to zeedan after seeing him on family fortunes though. As for the dad, could he have looked any less bothered when kal died?

Wish faye would fuck off.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 27/06/2015 10:21

I wish they would add some real longevity to their storylines. Surely most viewers are regular? Start Maxs ADHD story suitably early.....have couples struggle for a baby for 1yr plus.....have engagements that last longer than three weeks. All in the background. I know soaps are not real life but it would be good if they could be more realistic.

Surely theres someone on the street (besides Emily) who would be a realistic babysitter? Even a line added "Text Jodie, see if she will babysit for us tonight?" Would do.

AgathaChristie01 · 27/06/2015 11:04

Dull, dull, dull, that is all I think when Alya appears on screen.
Agree re longevity of stories. Steve's depression was another story that was brought to an abrupt end. I thought Simon Gregson played a blinder, in his portrayal of it, then the story abruptly ended.
The bus crash, no further developments on it. Was it investigated? Does anyone remember that it happened? Grin

Only a few of the characters, the likes of Steve, Tim, Carla, Eileen and Sally make it any way watchable for me now.

ProfYaffle · 27/06/2015 11:05

It was the slow burning, long lasting storylines that Corrie used to excel at. Things happened in a reasonably realistic time frame.

eddiemairswife · 27/06/2015 11:27

I didn't notice Jackson at the Miley hand-over.

hildasmuriel · 27/06/2015 17:08

That's totally it! Stories are written in isolation, abruptly ended and nobody ever remembers. It drives me mad.

Listmaker · 27/06/2015 18:06

I after with all your comments and thought the same about the Miley handover i.e. can they just do that? And yes why no mention of contact. Tim was talking like he'd never see her again! As you say she'll probably just never be mentioned now. Ridiculous.

And yes Alya is a terrible actress and sooooo dull Angry .

And the whole invisible kids and elastic houses is daft and I feel insulting our intelligence somewhat!

But do love Tim and Mary and Steve and after 34 years of watching I can't bring myself to stop!!

Listmaker · 27/06/2015 18:06

Agree not after Sad

MrsUltracrepidarian · 27/06/2015 18:22

Agree about the isolated stories and the ridiculous Miley handover - shoddy careless writing unworthy of the old Corrie.
And yeah, bet no-one mentions Miley again until in about 15 years when she will turn up (having lived all of a few streets away) as a long lost teenager story.

AgathaChristie01 · 27/06/2015 18:37

after 34 years of watching I can't bring myself to stop!!

Another longterm watcher here, although I did take a break when the Windasses first appeared. There used to be a guy with long, straggly hair, Eddie or something. He was one of the reasons I took a break.

I only like parts with some of the more established actors. Callum, Sarah, Bethany, Alya, Andrea, Michelle, Chesney, Sinead and the likes (too many to list actually) just bore me to tears.

Have taken to watching old episodes, and there is just no comparison with now.
