I'm ready for Bethany to bugger off back to Italy now.

If she could take Les Dennis, Michelle, Tracey-Luv, Jazz-Hands, Chesney, Sinead, the chicken man and his entire family, and Rita I would be very grateful.

Realistically what would happen when Kylie comes back? Surely social services must get involved due to all the things that were brought up in court, like her drug use?

hildasmuriel · 30/05/2015 16:09

I thought last week was dreadful. Not only was the plot full of holes as others have pointed out I hated the manipulative Maddy and Sophie are getting a flat and planning elephant holidays. Bam Maddy is in hospital. Kal proposes. Bam. Kal is dead.

I much prefer the Street when it is stories about bins and sofas and characters. Not characters who shift their personalities to fit the plot but plots driven by behaviour of characters we love and believe in.

I love Coronation Street but have hated this week.

Valsoldknickers · 30/05/2015 16:11

Kylie still managed to get her hair done while away! The change of colour would cost a fair few bob in my local hairdresser's, she doesn't appear to have been roughing it!

CandOdad · 30/05/2015 16:27

guessing Kyle thinks Bethany is David's "replacement" for her.

HirplesWithHaggis · 30/05/2015 17:21

If Bethany recognised Kylie, surely Kylie would recognise Bethany as David's niece?

southeastdweller · 30/05/2015 18:26

Anne Kirkbride's memorial service took place earlier today. It was good to see so many fans attend and I love that black and white pic of her which I'd never seen before.

Daily Mail link here

I know it sounds dramatic, maybe even ridiculous, but if the writers screw up the residents reactions to Deirdre's passing, and the funeral, Corrie won't ever be the same again to me.

woodhill · 30/05/2015 18:58

Thanks so sadSad

CandOdad · 30/05/2015 22:22

I was thinking along the lines of Bethany seeing a picture of Kylie. I can't think of when they would have met?

HirplesWithHaggis · 30/05/2015 22:53

You may have a point there, CandOdad. I'll admit my first thought was, Kylie will think Bethany is David's new gf, won't that set the cat among the pigeons? But B said she recognised K, although it can't have been immediately or she wouldn't have yelled at her for staring at the dc... But then I suppose K would also have seen photos of B? Confused

Just another hole in the plot!

southeastdweller · 30/05/2015 23:04

They never met but I figured Bethany saw a pic of Kylie in the house or on David's phone...or something Confused.

YYy Hildasmurial, I totally agree. Corrie's good with gentle comedy about the minutia of life. I really hate personality transformations and circular storylines that come around time and time again.

And yy again to the hospital scenes. I also hate the way soap doctors don't explain any actual medical details but will just bark "the next 24hrs are critical!" then march off and no-one thinks to ask exactly what's wrong.

I noticed the characters trying to find clothes from neighbours, remember the fire at the Rovers and everyone pointing out that Stella was still wearing her old wardrobe?

Itwasmybirthday · 31/05/2015 11:02

I've been thinking about how Tracey could get found out for starting the fire, not Carla..

Maybe in the fire report it will say how the candle caught the lamp alight, and Carla will know that she didn't leave the candle anywhere near the lamp? (When Tracey came into the flat she picked up the candle and lit it, but put it back down in a different part of the room, near the lamp).

Or maybe she will confess to someone or slip up when talking about the fire, or someone like Ken will overhear her doing so?

I hate these kind of storylines, hope they get it over and done with quickly.

ProfYaffle · 31/05/2015 12:07

My guess is that she confesses. Corrie has had an annoying habit of villains only getting found out when they confess rather than tripping themselves up or someone working it out etc.

thenightsky · 31/05/2015 12:25

I'm mostly mourning the loss of Carla's stunning wardrobe Sad

Couldn't care less about Kal Grin

I dont understand why Tracy didnt race up the ladder to grab her daughter, why Leanne and Amy couldnt have climbed together down it, and why kal couldnt have dropped himself over the edge - id take two broken legs over being burned alive any day.

I did feel very tense all the way through each episode (watched back to back).

Ive heard Maddie is leaving but dont know the details - I do quite like her and Sophie as a couple so itd be awful for Sophie to loose her due to this.

Tracy is going round sayig about the candle specifically to turn people against Carla. I think she thinks it would be impossible to prove it was her. CCTV would be good. Or a drunken confession to Ken who turns her in.

Clawdy · 31/05/2015 16:21

Perhaps she'll break down at her mum's funeral?

lucjam · 31/05/2015 22:02

Tracey commented that Amy is 11. Is that right? So she will be going to secondary school soon, or is already in year 7, I thought she was about 9 or 10 so year 5. She doesn't act 11.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 31/05/2015 22:12

She is 11, she was born within a few weeks of my 11yo DS.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 31/05/2015 22:13

And in Year 6.

SymphonyofShadows · 01/06/2015 04:44

Perhaps Tracey will be discovered due to a combination of the missing keys, CCTV and that thing she said to Ken about nearly doing something bad?

ProfYaffle · 01/06/2015 06:17

Your ds must've been born around the same time as my dd whoknows! I was pg at the same time as Tracy Barlow, iirc her pregnancy was about 3 months too short.

AnguaResurgam · 01/06/2015 06:40

Her PGs must always have been strange lengths, then!

Or the scriptwriters just crap: we knew the date of the twins conception, and assuming a typical cycle length, she had passed the legal date and so they were still born. But always described as a miscarriage. So disappointed by that.

And talking about miscarriage - of justice this time - her murder conviction (brought to mind as standing behind Carla on sofa with blunt instrument in hand reflected exactly what she did to Charlie) was not reliant on forensic evidence. She admitted from the off she had hit him. It all came down to whether she was a DV victim acting from self defence. There is no way this conviction would have been overturned because of a discredited scientist.

SymphonyofShadows · 01/06/2015 07:10

I know this is shallow but I always wondered where she got the fishnet tights from that she turned up in when she was released from jail. Surely not prison issue?
