I thought the Bishop was going to be a love interest for Mary too! I quite enjoyed the befuddled way he was staring at Sean and the raffle tickets.

It was good to have a focus on something other than Callum, Michael and the general Platt household, even if the bin story seemed to have no point.

It's easy to see where the Jenny story is going now. She is playing that part well, albeit that when she first appeared, she seemed ordinary, happy even.

I like the little dog. I hope Steve can't trace her owners, so she becomes a permanent member of the cast. We still occasionally see Eccles, but Maria's large black dog seems to have disappeared.

Hot on the heels of Paddy McGuinness and Sarah Harding, it was confirmed today that fading pop star who probably can't act to save his life Shayne Ward is joining the show as a Connor cousin. He's signed for one year and appears from August. Two more Connor family members are joining later on.

So be prepared for more hand-wringing and moaning from Michelle for a long while...can't wait

I wonder if the dog is Steve's in real life? It looks very comfortable with him (don't think we've ever seen Ken cuddling Eccles!)

Craig seems to have disappeared now, which is a shame. He needs to be part of the Faye story for longer, while she's struggling.

A quick Google tells me that Simon Gregson confirmed on twitter that Rover is their family pet, Cookie. Sweet

Anna is really pissing me off. Faye clearly doesn't want the baby.

But Anna needs to have something to be martyrish about. When Owen was there, she could always be in the kitchen, looking harassed, and cooking meals that nobody ever seemed to eat anyway.

I loved the bins. It was like Corrie used to be, with funny little jokes running through the episode. Nice to have something a bit light hearted which is when Corrie is at it's best. I feel a bit sorry for Tracey, desperate for validation from everyone. Enjoying the break from Kal and co and the Platts. By the way, how has Maddie suddenly turned into an ok character? Has her acting improved or is it just that the character is getting nicer? When she was first in it's she was so obviously 'acting' it felt like watching a school play!
