Tis too late for me sadly. I clicked on an alert and I know exactly what happens in the finale. I thought the screencaps were going to be from Ep 09 then started looking closer and read some of the captions and BOOM! The penny dropped! They were screencaps from the finale.

FancyFancy · 22/03/2015 14:41

I may still have stiff thighs, but I'd definitely go through the pain barrier to straddle that ^

FancyFancy · 22/03/2015 14:44

Oh no carolina Sad

If the Cardinal were still alive he'd have an appropriate punishment to hand for them I'm sure.

Well it's a compelling argument Fancy and no mistake.

I agree wholeheartedly ref fucked up ness and prissy attitudes etc. If we ain't getting nekkid musketeers then let's just stick with S1 camaraderie and see thru trousers, and leave the sexual violence for other shows eh.

I for one am quite happy to have alley snogging/cupboard pouncing and to let me imagination full in the rest really.

Going back to Adrian's original aim, it's the adventure element and the swashbuckling fun I love, the cape fighting and funny asides. Let's have more of that please.

And let's hope FFS they do kill of MW as although he has been a good baddie and I'm begrudgingly quite impressed with what he's done with it, I'm done with him now.

LaComtess · 22/03/2015 14:47

Oh no Carolina!!!Sad grrrrrrr.

Carolina2015 · 22/03/2015 14:48

Thanks for the Private Eye thing. I do think if BBC does go too far down the reality show route then I would seriously support the end of the licence fee and let them take ads for revenue like everyone else.

TM UK fans are feeling let down at the moment but this isn't the first time the BBC has done this to a popular show.

I also believe that, feeling self satisfied with the success of S1, the producers got carried away and wanted to see just how far they could take it with a post watershed slot but then fucked up actually doing it. They missed the point that the fans latched onto the series based on the S1 content, storylines the humour and the relationships between the four main characters and they have put all that aside in S2.

I am not even at all sure that I am looking forward to S3 now especially having seen all those spoilers a little while ago.

I am not even going to bother trying not to read any more.

SparklesRedHotChileLeather · 22/03/2015 15:07

The spoilers you've seen are enough to put you off S3?????

Fuckinell. My mind is boggling.

I'm going for - (and I'm missing out the one thing I actually know, so this is all speculation)

  1. Aramis leaves TM & goes to a monastery & will come back & somehow rescue them at the start of S3.
  2. The Queen gets banished/banishes herself back to the frigging convent for the 3rd time. She is DONE with Aramis following the Marguerite thing. Not sure how they're going to sort all that out with the baby/King/treason.
  3. Marg & Rochefort to die.

Errr. Yeah. That's as far as I've got. I think my plot-writing may be on a par with the actual writers ie. holey Grin

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 22/03/2015 15:10

Oh no Carolina Angry

FancyFancy · 22/03/2015 15:11

yes our imaginations can supply plenty comtess Grin

Private Eye also had a few gags about Poldark & AT's hotness carolina Grin

I wonder how stung the writers/producers were by many of the critics of s1 who wrote it off as mindless, unoriginal & cliched, and constantly picked holes in the plots. So much of the s2 promo talked about the characters 'journeys' & how complex they were, but we weren't watching it instead of Shakespeare, let's be honest. It was probably a foolish thing to do, costume drama is popular but often critically derided nowadays, it's not intellectually fashionable unless it's utterly serious & historically near-perfect. TM was never going to be that.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 22/03/2015 15:13

Fancy have you tried any of the Swedish stuff you bought? Smile

MiladyBeaWinter · 22/03/2015 15:15

I'm spoiler free. Not going near twitter or tumblr until Friday, my predictions are.....

  1. Marg dies. Roche dies. No-one else dies.
  2. Queen and Kingy reunite. He's thick enough to believe it if he wants to.
  3. Connie is rescued.
  4. Dog and Connie get married in a happy ending.
  5. Milady and Athos is unresolved. In a lets have lots of S3 sexual tension way.
  6. Aramis stays put. They are not daft enough to put him in a convent surely?
  7. Trev gets made Cpt again. Officially.
  8. Porthos gets shagged by two tavern wenches who swagger in appear at the end credits and whisk him off.
Carolina2015 · 22/03/2015 15:18

Sparks Not the spoilers in themsleves putting me off though one particular spoiler has me rolling my eyes. It's more a combination of the spoilers and the poor writing in S2 that's putting me off.

As Fancy points out... if we wanted anything other than lighthearted entertainment with hot, beardy, handsome young men we would be watching the arts channels.

LaComtess · 22/03/2015 15:18

Oh totally agree Fancy. TM ideal for people like me for example who used to love shows like Zorro and Robin of Sherwood. I don't want glaring silly errors but if I want Wolf Hall accuracy I'll watch Wolf Hall.

My worry as with all series finales is that they have to set up some trauma or issue for next season ... And for 'drama' you can't have happy families for everyone. (See Issy's bbc shop interview with Maimie where she says this much more eloquently than me).
Often the big cliffhangers are resolved pretty early in the next season but it gives you a year to dwell and worry over!!

I'm most just glad we know there will be a next season tho as I would be UTTERLY GUTTED if there wasn't.

SparklesRedHotChileLeather · 22/03/2015 15:18

LOL re Porthos.

No, I think Aramis is going to have a blip when he 'loses' the Queen & Dauphin & questions everything about himself & will turn his back on his life of wanton-ness. Hence the monastery. But he'll come back in S3 & hopefully be back to his charming slaggy old self. Grin

SparklesRedHotChileLeather · 22/03/2015 15:19

They WILL end on a cliffhanger - unlike S1 - because they knew S3 was going ahead.

SparklesRedHotChileLeather · 22/03/2015 15:20

Oh God, can you imagine if we knew that this Friday was going to be the last one ever?

LaComtess · 22/03/2015 15:22

MrsB - He's thick enough to believe it if he wants to.

YES

I've been thinking that he's a man who turns his tune on a sixpence so if Roche does get unveiled as a spy I think he'll be pretty happy to turn turtle and believe everything is a now Roche lie and it's all fine really .

FancyFancy · 22/03/2015 15:22

I reckon Aramis will deny everything in court like Porthos told him to.

When they had their moment in the convent in ep 9, Queenie said she didn't regret what they'd done & he said nothing. I think she'd have been prepared to confess because she can't deny how she feels, but will be heartbroken that he is not prepared to do the same.
That ends things between them, but how it would get them out of trouble I have no idea Grin

Most likely - Porthos will succeed in his mission, Rochefort will be outed as a Spanish spy & his accusations against Queenie & Aramis will be written off as lies.

I really, really want Trev to be the one to kill Rochefort though. To look him in the eye & say "And this is for Dr Lemay you cunt" before stabbing him. I suspect the US market may not go with the vocab for that one though

LaComtess · 22/03/2015 15:23

Yes Sparks they'll def have a cliffhanger this year. It better not be Athos related or I might die.

Baddz · 22/03/2015 15:25

Pretty sure the only deaths in the finale will be Vargas, marg and rochefort.
Kingy will reconcile with Queenie and reinstate Treville.
It will mean war though.
Dog and Connie will marry
No idea with milathos...it won't end happily that's for sure

Carolina2015 · 22/03/2015 15:25

"And this is for Dr Lemay you cunt"

LMAO !

FancyFancy · 22/03/2015 15:25

Love the ideas for Porthos's story & Aramis being back to his charming slaggy old self Grin

LaComtess · 22/03/2015 15:26

Fancy And this is for Dr Lemay you cunt" ---- this has given me the major giggles

FancyFancy · 22/03/2015 15:26

S3 storyline all about war with Spain then?
