Ok, so watching Poldark. So far seems a bit clean and not rugged enough, but I do like those wine glasses..

FancyFancy · 08/03/2015 21:11

I quite enjoyed the fighty bit at the beginning mavis Grin

Enormouse · 08/03/2015 21:13

Lots of corsets and heaving bosoms too mavis

FancyFancy · 08/03/2015 21:13

I also quite like a military uniform (which will come as a surprise to no-one)

FancyFancy · 08/03/2015 21:15

And the horses, oh quite a few of the bits I like from TM Grin

Enormouse · 08/03/2015 21:15

Yep fancy much prefer the uniform. But the long coat is quite nice.

FancyFancy · 08/03/2015 21:26

DD interrupted so I'm a bit behind now.

A billowy shirt would be nice Grin

FancyFancy · 08/03/2015 21:29

And again! FFS, why can my children not sort out their feckin' PE kits when I ask them to & not leave it 'til an inconvenient time.

I do like the grubby wall mending though....

SparklesRedHotChileLeather · 08/03/2015 21:40

DS1's verdict: ALL FOUR for the chop! Shock

"It'll finish off all 4 story arcs nicely. Wrecked."

FancyFancy · 08/03/2015 21:44

He's not doing your nerves any good is he sparks?

FancyFancy · 08/03/2015 21:48

Think I've just lowered the tone on the Poldark thread.....

MavisGrind · 08/03/2015 22:05

Right ho hey off to bed. Poldark was ok but I don't think I can manage 5 seasons of staring whistfully from the top of a horse over a cliff. The Cornish Tourist peeps will be cashing in though.

Night all.

AnneOfAramis · 08/03/2015 22:07

Well I was a bit meh about that until the fight with Demelza's family.

I also rather liked the moment when it looked like he was going to let Francis drown. Not sure what this says about me.

My best uni friend is watching so we were texting throughout. We haven't done that for ages, particularly since he got a gf (also my friend) so that was nice.

Enormouse · 08/03/2015 22:07

I enjoyed it but I don't know how it'll last 5 seasons. The forsyte saga only lasted 2.

FancyFancy · 08/03/2015 22:09

Night mavis

Agreed was ok, AT was hot, as expected, but I didn't warm to any of the other characters much. Demelza has potential to improve & I quite liked Verity, but suspect I will be annoyed at her being written as the plain sister - nice but destined to be an old maid. All other men were completely un-hot. The opposite of FAF. No swagger.

AnneOfAramis · 08/03/2015 22:14

AT was hit and miss for me. I had a couple of, oh maybe moments:

  1. As a red coat
  2. When he was all up in Elizabeth's face
  3. When he watched Francis drowning
  4. When he was getting the shit kicked out if him and the bruised and bleeding result
FancyFancy · 08/03/2015 22:16

Ooh, I liked the Forsyte Saga too mouse, although I sympathised more with Soames than I felt comfortable with, that's the Damian Lewis effect I guess. (Irene as a character gets right on my tits too - both in the book and on screen. Complete wet lettuce)

FancyFancy · 08/03/2015 22:20

It was a big yes from me for the red coat too anne

Also the marketplace part when he hits the chap with his cane - very hot Grin

Enormouse · 08/03/2015 22:21

I agree with Ross being the only one that was interesting worth shagging.

fancy soames always gave me the heebie jeebies. I loved young Jolyon, Montague and Val Dartie and the architect Ioan Gruffudd plays. But he was so wet I've forgotten his name.

AnneOfAramis · 08/03/2015 22:24

Someone on the second Poldark thread is already suggesting a Cornwall piss up.

This tickled me from our very own Alibabs:

I am not defecting, I am thinking of this as a kind of sabbatical. To return refreshed to the day job

Enormouse · 08/03/2015 22:24

Oh and I liked the wee scruffy dog. He was cute. Nothing bad happens to him right?

MadamedeChevreuse · 08/03/2015 22:28

well I watched the Bourne Legacy again

There was a lot of intense staring, running up walls, wearing of leather, smashing the shit out of bad men in an incredibly hot way, motorbike chases, rescuing rachel weisz, and sweaty nipples

I feel quite unusual.

Thats a bit better.

Its musketeers the 21st century. Seriously, give it a look. Sounds way better than Poldark. Grin

IssyStark · 08/03/2015 22:34

Verity I like as a character but it takes her a long time to get to where she wants to be, but when she does (I think about BM 4 in the series), she seriously upsets he apple carts.

As for the rest, it was rather ho him. I have a feeling that it may make more sense if you've read the books. Plus the house they have for Nampara looks just too small - there's supposed to be a wing with a book room on the ground floor which was built by Ross's father in the 'modern style'.

Soames was seriously creepy, especially as he got older, you're right mouse, & all the more creepy because it was DL & I find it hard to hate any character he plays.

I wasn't that keen on young Jolyon, he was a shit to his own wife & then lectured Soames. June pissed me off, but not as much as Irene, couldn't see what all the fuss was about with her at all. I did enjoy it though Grin, and the books.
