Bit risqué!! Definitely not one to watch when the kids might wander into the lounge...

And definitely a Russell T Davies series - Queer as Folk's little brother

Ah - thanks for that, I think it was ep 7 he mentioned he'd done away with his crutches and I wondered why.

Thanks for the comments. It helps that I'm a similar age to Henry and spent my 20's house sharing with a gay man. When I re-watched QAF a few months ago it struck me just how much attitudes have changed in the last 20 years. I remember my friends being very cautious about being out at work. Now they're pestered to death by young workmates who want a Gay Best Friend.

Thanks Gerund missed that bit. I thought he was an Undercover policeman the way he came into that scene with the dodgy landlords - think I'm watching too many American crime series Grin

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 15/03/2015 12:50

That character was great

I found him pretty obnoxious in the first ep iirc

After that every time he appeared it was: Ooh! It's Cliff!

Boysclothes · 15/03/2015 12:53

Can someone explain who Henry was shouting at down the phone one year later? I couldn't hear what they were saying.

Allyblaster · 15/03/2015 14:00

Oooooh Cliff - Con O'Neill I remember him from Dancin' Thru The Dark years ago, I watched it on repeat as a teenager. He's still got it! Grin

Jackie0 · 16/03/2015 07:41

Con O'Neill, yep, glad I'm not the only one Ally Wink

Boys it was just a random cold caller wasn't it? I took that to be us being shown that Henry was still angry- with being gay, with losing Lance, with his life in general. May have misread it though.

deliciouslytipsy · 16/03/2015 13:46

Yes. Random Cold Caller. I've taken out my rage at a break-up on one in the past....

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 16/03/2015 14:20

watched last night

I thought it was perfect- perfectly real/plausible, that is. Not perfect perfect.

I was a bit 'oh SURE' about the Commune- something in me really wanted it to work-but something else in my cold black heart knew it couldn't

Sad

the end bit with Freddie in the café was brilliant-and the catch-ups on the other characters. Made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up

oh and if RTD's people are reading this thread- tell him thanks for the Screwdriver. It prompted me to have The Chat again about porn with ds. V enlightening. Not sure he found it quite as edifying as I did- he's gone up to tidy his room

Grin
MuddhaOfSuburbia · 16/03/2015 14:26

wasn't the cold caller supposed to be the same day Henry meets the threesome lad?

and talks about Lance as though he's still alive

that was fucking raw

Pooseyfrumpture · 18/03/2015 21:19

That was very well written. And Henry in the 6 years on was more likeable than ever. The silly face in the crowd to Freddie was hilarious.

EachandEveryone · 22/08/2015 20:05

I'm so sorry to bring this back from the dead! I just watched it back to back on a train from Aberdeen. That journey never went so fast Grin i just knew there would be a thread on here somewhere. Just bloody brilliant. Has it missed awards season? I hope not. I feel bad that I never quite took to Henry there was just something about him. He's the same age as me and a couple of years younger than my two best gay friends and we all lived in Manchester at some point not together Canal Street doesn't look like it's changed at all. Both my friends preferred QAF one of them even said he found Cucumber "too mucky" in his old age. If anyone wants to watch it again they can find it on Sky.

Is it worth watching Banana?

Clayhead · 22/08/2015 20:08

I'm still thinking about that episode - so thought provoking...

EachandEveryone · 22/08/2015 20:37

Why couldn't Henry just be honest in the first place and say bum sex wasn't his thing. It's not the be all and end all in gay relationships so why not just be truthful. I think that's why I couldn't take to him.
