Bit risqué!! Definitely not one to watch when the kids might wander into the lounge...

And definitely a Russell T Davies series - Queer as Folk's little brother

I freaked out too. Lying in bed now feeling haunted and sick.

MadgeMak · 27/02/2015 07:50

I've just discovered this series and have downloaded all the episodes to series link. Bloody loved QAF and recently watched it again on 4od. I went to download banana too but episode one is no longer on demand, can I just watch cucumber in isolation do you think or will it feel incomplete?

ElizaPickford · 27/02/2015 07:52

interesting article

Hoplikeabunny · 27/02/2015 08:37

Madge- You can watch Cucumber in isolation, but you can also watch Banana without seeing episode 1 as they aren't linked, some of the characters overlap, but not in a way that wouldn't make sense.

IHaveBrilloHair · 27/02/2015 08:41

I've just downloaded them all too after reading this, that's my day sorted

StaircaseAtTheUniversity · 27/02/2015 09:15

Wow, I actually upsetSad

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 27/02/2015 10:38

RTD has form for shocking deaths

does anyone remember QAF, Vince's mate (Dean, was it? 'there's always a Dean') who picked up some nice-but-vaguely-menacing looking bloke on a big night out, snorted bloke's heroin by mistake and died on his kitchen floor, while bloke scarpered?

It was AWFUL. Honestly

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 27/02/2015 10:39

I can't watch this one

do I need to?

or can I just fill in the blanks?

even without watching I managed to have nightmares about it Hmm

Nameofstreets · 27/02/2015 11:39

Absolutely bloody amazing.
Its the next day and I still feel shaken up and deeply disturbed.
It was incredibly acted and so brilliantly written.
I am amazed it hasn't been reviewed in the nationals.
It will have it's time in the future.
It was so astute.
RTD said he wanted to do a death properly - and he has. He wanted us to feel the full force of a life snuffed out, and a life gone, and what makes up a life.
And he has.

ChoochiWoo · 27/02/2015 12:41

Ooh ive found the thread thanks to.someone linking me , I read something in the radio times last week and was anticipating this episode, It was needed I think it had gone a bit silly and freddie is dire so OTT , the flower bowl needed weighing down with some gravel im really looking forward to next weeks episode.

FamiliesShareGerms · 27/02/2015 13:13

So I started the thread and didn't return... And I've missed the last episode!! Can someone PM what happened pls? (I'm away at the moment so can't watch it on catch up) Thanks!

Just watched it.
So glad I didn't see it last night as I had a really shitty day and that would have tipped me over the edge.

I knew as soon as I saw the date what would happen. I really wanted him to go home and maybe text Henry. Loved seeing Denise Black again too.

This has been funny, thought provoking, disturbing, uncomfortable, harrowing. Absolutely all the things that good powerful tv should be.

The actors have all been really good but I think James Murray has been particularly brave to take on this part. Mind you I do have a bit of a soft spot for him and his wife.

Is next week the last one?

Clayhead · 27/02/2015 13:23

This week's episode says 6th of eight.

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 27/02/2015 13:31

the flower bowl needed weighing down with some gravel

love this

thenewbrunette · 27/02/2015 14:22

I'm so glad others have been discussing last night's episode. Yes, excellently acted and I agree with the post above saying how brave James Murray is to have taken on that role...but oh my god! It was soooo grim to watch and I just kept hoping it was going to turn out to be some kind of dream/ nightmare/ miraculously salvageable.

Really thought there would be reunion with Henry and Lance in last ep.

thenewbrunette · 27/02/2015 14:32

Thanks for link to article Eliza. Having read it, I realise I missed first few mins of episode as DP was watching football! Had I seen it, the end would not have come as such a shock!

drigon · 27/02/2015 14:33

Outstanding episode! Brilliant acting and writing! Horrible,of course, but loved it. I am 47, so flashbacks resonated with me.I remember the actor playing Lance was in This Life in a small role in the 90s.That was a classic. Top notch stuff!

StaircaseAtTheUniversity · 27/02/2015 16:00

muddha it was Phil in QAF. Said to DH that we should have seen it coming because Phil died as a result of a date gone wrong, but I still didn't!

IHaveBrilloHair · 27/02/2015 16:06

Just this ep to go now, dd is due in any minute so I'll save it for the morning, absolutely loving it, Freddie is hot!

carlywurly · 27/02/2015 16:31

Still feeling chilled by it today. Hmm Very powerful and affecting. Amazing series, have really enjoyed it.

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 27/02/2015 16:36

PHIL! of course

that poor lad. And Doreen Corkhill his mum, at the funeral

the series was like nothing else we'd ever seen- although there was a fair bit of gravel in the flower bowl by the time it got to that ep, no one was prepared for RTD chucking that big rock in

it's still devastating 15 years on

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 27/02/2015 16:37

...by god he's good at telly.

isn't he?

isn't he good at telly?

annadina · 27/02/2015 17:22

he is! - he should think about writing TV for a living ......

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 27/02/2015 17:31

I'm actually still brooding on it too. I had a panic attack on DH saying I felt as if I'd died when I watched it. I hadn't seen the RT interview at that point. God I still feel sick.
