I can't see a thread about this, I'm not the only one watching surely?!

Anyone?

OP posts:
LesleyKnopeFan · 29/01/2015 22:52

I'm watching, tho we've stopped and will finish tomo. Just got to the point where gambon makes the phone call in the pub.

It's gripping, isn't it?

Icapturethecastle · 29/01/2015 22:56

I did as well - quite enjoyed it. Love Stanley Tucci in anything. So many interesting characters. Hope the little boy doesn't lose his toes (my ds about the same age so found that upsetting!)

ThursdayLast · 30/01/2015 07:31

I watched it and enjoyed it!

PTAblues · 30/01/2015 09:01

I didn't enjoy it much- DH and I sat and took the piss out of it.

It was a bit clunky and overblown and they had given up character development in favour of chucking as much stuff at the plot as they could in the first episode/s. It didn't help I hated the bad sherriff bloke. He seemed to only have starey eyes and angry face in his acting repertoire.

I will keep watching but only because the bloke who wrote it used to live in the flat upstairs from me.

FireflyLight · 30/01/2015 09:11

I'm going to have to agree with PTA on this one. DH and I really tried with this and we just couldn't gel with it. We ended up turning over half way through.

Shame really as we were both looking forward to a new series to watch.

oneowlgirl · 31/01/2015 21:29

DH & I are watching it right now but neither of us are too sure about what's going on?? Not sure I'll stick with it TBH.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 31/01/2015 21:36

I was googling it (obviously not too gripped!), and it was described somewhere as 'Broadchurch with snow.'
Thought it got a but daft in parts, then when the mother went toddling round the scarey scientific facility and saw the strapped up pig thing, sent me nearly hysterical! Grin

Lammy7 · 31/01/2015 22:21

Gave it a chance but am very wary of vague thrillery series which might have a supernatural element after the devastation of LOST :( still cannot believe how dreadful the end of that show was.
Fortitude has a lot of characters to get to grips with! But I will persevere for a few weeks! To me it is a bit Twin Peaks in the snow sort of thing.

Lammy7 · 31/01/2015 22:26

Did anyone else think maybe the boy with mumps killed the professor? He climbed out his window and was at that yocking carcass thing......maybe he goes all "woo" and kills everyone :)

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 31/01/2015 23:13

What was the yocking carcass thing?

TwiggyHeart · 31/01/2015 23:19

We were going to give it a go but the 90 minute first part puts me off!. Does it look supernatural?, if so will give it a miss. Just finished Top of the Lake on Netflix, worth a watch.

BeeBawBabbity · 31/01/2015 23:24

I liked it. It was like Fargo/the Returned/Lost all rolled into one. I just hope it's not going to keep posing questions without answering any. There is a supernatural element.

Also liked Top of the Lake.

PTAblues · 01/02/2015 16:30

I thought maybe the mad shagging woman was meant to be in on the murder as the search and rescue man had blood on him when he went home and couldn't find a cut depite much overdramatic searching. But then that's too obvious.
I wasn't too sure about that doctor lady either. Leaving a unresponsive child at home with his parents for 2 or 3 days seemed a bit old skool to me.

ShebaRabbit · 01/02/2015 18:49

i loved it but really hope it doesn't end up like Lost. On a side note I saw Stanley Tucci on Westbourne Grove, I was staring cos I thought I knew him and he gave me a friendly nod, it only dawned on me a week or two later who he was Blush. He's quite handsome in RL too

NiceAcorns · 01/02/2015 18:54

Watched it last night, on the basis of the cast, & enjoyed it.

Fargo-esque. Surprised such a big actor as CE killed off so early

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 01/02/2015 19:03

Yeah, we're watching Smile

Panicmode1 · 01/02/2015 19:08

I watched it but am not sure about it TBH - I'll see whether the first ten minutes of the next one reels me in, and if not, I'll give up.

Tiredbadger · 01/02/2015 19:09

I watched it last night and can't quite decide what to think. Some parts were good and other times it felt like a soap. I also think there was too many characters, it felt hard to keep up at some points.

ThatBloodyWoman · 01/02/2015 19:14

I watched the first one on Now.
Got a bit lost with the storyline tbh,but I will continue to watch for the spectacular scenery.
I maybe missed something or I'm being dim,but which country is it actually set in?

poorbuthappy · 01/02/2015 19:16

DH is disgusted with the death as he is on all the posters and feels cheated.
I'm thinking ghost or flashbacks... Grin

ShebaRabbit · 01/02/2015 20:18

I think its meant to be Norway, an island off norway in the Arctic circle but it seems to be jointly governed by the UK??
Some of it was actually filmed in Iceland, DH recognised Reykjavik anyway.

Ginrummy · 01/02/2015 20:25

I agree with tired badger. It felt like a soap trying too hard to be Fargo.
I'll watch the next episode because there's bugger all else to watch at the moment.

ThatBloodyWoman · 01/02/2015 20:33

Thanks Sheba !
It looks stunning.

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 01/02/2015 22:01

I watched it too. No idea what's actually going on though. Grin

Lammy7 · 07/02/2015 23:56
