I can't see a thread about this, I'm not the only one watching surely?!

Anyone?

OP posts:
Theimpossiblegirl · 03/04/2015 22:29

Me! I'm a bit behind though so will pop back when I've caught up. It's like Twin peaks on ice but with more violence. In a good way.

JokersMaid · 03/04/2015 22:30

Still really enjoying this! (had to cover my eyes at a couple of points) bit of a voice crush on Dan too

Missanneshirley · 03/04/2015 22:40

Just watched the most recent one...bleeeeeeeee! anyone have any idea what's going on?

Fiderer · 04/04/2015 09:34

Some kind of virus which never died as it was frozen and is now being released cos the glacier's melting. I think.

Liam and Carrie found the mammoth skeleton and Liam was affected and she wasn't -yet. Shirley seems to have been affected by just sniffing in the shed where the mammoth is kept. Jason is affected but seems to have some control. We don't know what happened to the guy who went off with the tusks.

Natalie and Vincent tested the bit of mammoth but they seem unaffected. Anyone else think that polar bear was going to come back to life on the dissecting table Shock And why did Vincent stay in the room when the insects started coming out?

If Max and his friend drill into the mammoth graveyard and release more evil viruses, yikes.

Poor Morton, didn't think Henry would kill him.

AnimalsAreMyFriends · 05/04/2015 19:33

Oh my goodness. Just watched this weeks Shock

I don't think I will be able to sleep tonight, I have a fear of flying insects!

Looking forward to the last one, do we think it will be left open for a 2nd series?

IndigoApple · 05/04/2015 21:55

I am really enjoying this. Want to get to the conclusion next week but will be sad when it's finished. I have all episodes on Sky, almost tempted to start watching again! Sure I will pick up more second time round!

DustBunnyFarmer · 05/04/2015 23:12

We're still watching but our bewilderment level has gradually been turned up to 11. It definitely jumped the shark this week with the cloud of flies. Bonkers! DH thinks they started making up the plot as they went along. I'm erring on the bollocks/crap side of the fence now. It's too sloppy and poorly explained to be in the dotty genius camp.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 06/04/2015 09:13

I can't see how they're going to wrap everything up in the final episode.

I mean, the pig in the tank in the opening episodes, what was that all about eh?

The ice hotel storyline, what was the point of that? Hildur needn't have even been in the show.

We'll watch the final episode but I'll probably be Easter Confused

CinnabarRed · 06/04/2015 21:58

The ice hotel: that's why Pettigrew was on Fortitude in the first place - to do the Ground Penetrating Radar survey for the ice hotel. He found the mammoth graveyard, and Mad Yuri The Miner (who would presumably be familiar with GPR maps) recognised it - hence stealing the ice drill to dig up more mammoths.

Entirely separately, Liam and Carrie found the infected and thawing mammoth carcass. The infection is parasitic rather than viral, and seems to have two separate stages: the psychotic, mucus-vomitting one (Liam, Shirley, Jason) and the fly creating one (Dr Allerdyce, presumably Ronnie at any moment).

I can't see any way this can end well.

DustBunnyFarmer · 06/04/2015 23:31

Gambon putting a gun to his head and shooting Stanley has disproved the claim that no-one can die in Fortitude - they're dropping like flies.

ShebaRabbit · 08/04/2015 16:39

I feel really cheated with this. I don't like gore and it seems like the writers ran out of steam. I've stuck with it but think the whole fly/parasite storyline is crap. Lots of good actors and beautifully shot but badly let down by the narrative. All those filler scenes of Michael Gambon staring at the glacier were very annoying. Not sure if I'll bother with the last epi.

DustBunnyFarmer · 08/04/2015 22:14

We've decided to see the series out, but its unlikely we'd bother if they make another. Shame. What a waste of a decent cast and location. It's all over the place now.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 09/04/2015 10:10

We'll watch tonight but I can't see how they'll tie everything up.

AnxiousWreck · 09/04/2015 10:18

I don't think there will be another series - Sky are refusing to answer questions and a lot of the cast are dead. I can't see where they would go with it.

Tusks man is in the closet at Carrie's house - he's been alive for the past two episodes but he could be "alive" as a host, similarly to the others who have been attacked. It's not at all plausible that he's alive.

I like this. Sad Morton is dead, though.

Panicmode1 · 09/04/2015 17:22

news.sky.com/story/1461613/fortitude-to-return-for-second-series-in-2016

So, apparently there will be another series, but I don't think I'll be watching - it's got less and less credible with every episode! I am going to watch the final one because I've got this far, but I really can't see myself persevering with season 2....

fairgame · 09/04/2015 17:28

I like it but then i'm a fan of Stephen King books so i don't mind the weird bits. The fly swarm nearly made me vom!
I'm not sure how they will finish it off to a decent conclusion with only one episode to go. I hope its not a disappointing ending.

duckbilled · 09/04/2015 17:32

I reckon it's aliens, and the spanish murderess is a alien plant..... But then again maybe not Hmm

duckbilled · 09/04/2015 17:33

Plant as in a spy....not like little shop of horrors! Although that wouldn't seem too far fetched in this show Wink

PrincessFiorimonde · 09/04/2015 17:48

Been watching, though have found the last couple of episodes quite hard work. Will probably watch the last episode on catch-up rather than live, so just marking place here to see what others make of it.

Oh, and to say I'm impressed by posters like Fiderer and Cinnabar who know all the characters' names!

PrincessFiorimonde · 09/04/2015 17:53

Ahaha! Just read the other thread and know who Ronnie is now. (Thought he was called something else. Blush)

Ishouldbeweaving · 09/04/2015 21:48

I record them and watch them when I'm in on my own so I'm usually four days behind. I'll see it to the end but if there's a second series I'll pass. The last couple of episodes I've watched with my finger on the fast forward button - I love the scenery but have no wish to watch torture.

BaconAndAvocado · 09/04/2015 22:05

Aghhhhh! We lost our connection for a few minutes.

Did the little girl die?

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 09/04/2015 22:09

Ds3-15 thought it was an ok finish.

I tnought it was shite, too many loose ends left.

mejon · 09/04/2015 22:49

Every week, DH and I have looked at each other and asked 'what's going on? ' We were still none the wiser after tonight's episode and felt a little bit cheated. Everything seemingly tied up so quickly but with lots of unanswered questions. Shan't bother with a second series if there is one. This one promised so much but failed to deliver.

duckbilled · 10/04/2015 06:51

bacon they didn't show you get again after Dan carried her out of the house. I will not be watching season 2, it was beautiful but turned out ridiculous.
