I think HM's distaste for the old religious regime is pretty clear.

SkaterGrrrrl · 05/02/2015 11:25

God I can't wait to read the 3rd book now. Loved the first two.

Ps 2 year old DS is watching Bing. Keep imagining Flop smouldering in an ill-lit corner clutching a bit of parchment.

TheVestalVirgin · 05/02/2015 11:33

Liked the angry dancing scene too. Was hoping that at any moment it might morph into a Kevin Baconesque Dance of Angst a la Footloose, where Anne irritably vaults around the hall and throws a few hissy kick boxing shapes.

Didn't happen though Sad

TheVestalVirgin · 05/02/2015 11:34

More bears an uncanny resemblance to Dougal from The Magic Roundabout. Or is it just me?

magimedi · 05/02/2015 12:06

The tapestry originally belonged to Wlsey & the woman depicted in it reminds TC of the woman he loved & nearly married when he was young & lived in Italy.

(According to the books - think it comes in BUTB)

BOFster · 05/02/2015 12:09

The director Peter Kosminsky tweeted the Herald last night to suggest they wait for the next episode before they kick off about the portrayal of More...

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 05/02/2015 12:11

Interesting!

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 05/02/2015 12:23

ooh thanks for that magimedi

and that's interesting BoF

(though I can't think anything they do next week will detract from the bunny stroking torturing misogynistic creepy even possibly incestuous TM of the last three weeks)

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 05/02/2015 12:45

Maybe if he dies nobly?

AnneofCheese · 05/02/2015 13:42

I've spent work today stamping about the office roaring and cuffing people, bellowing 'by the thrice be-shitten shroud of Lazarus!' when I get an annoying email, and hissing 'why are you such a...person' at my boss. Glad it's appraisal feedback week!

squoosh · 05/02/2015 13:44

If your boss gives you any shit just placate them with the promise of a nubile female relative.

Baddz · 05/02/2015 14:03

I think Thomas more is woefully miscast tbh.
Ditto Anne.
Anne Boleyn had very dark eyes - eustace chapyus said they were her best feature.
Claire foy has blue eyes.
Mark rylance is an amazing actor.
It pains to me say I m finding DL a bit Panto villain as Henry ATM...
Gorgeous production though. Gorgeous.

Clawdy · 05/02/2015 14:50

"By the thrice beshitten shroud of Lazarus...." I thought that was what he said, but didn't quite catch it! Thank you, AnneofCheese !

Optimist1 · 05/02/2015 15:15

Thanks for clarification re the tapestry, magimedi - I sensed that it had rather more importance than being a pretty trinket from the King!

Sound advice from squoosh to AnneofCheese in her Norfolk persona.

awaynboilyurheid · 05/02/2015 15:30

Mark Rylance is too soppy, weak looking, when he threatens someone it's just not believable, whereas in the books you got the feeling he was really formidable, it's spoiling it for me but everyone else is excellent so I am continuing to watch as I like the story/history.

BOFster · 05/02/2015 15:34

I'm really enjoying his portrayal, even if it sometimes slips into 'Smell The Fart' acting.

Clawdy · 05/02/2015 15:52

Mark Rylance soppy,weak-looking?? I don't think so,and I really would have hated to see a bruiser like Ray Winstone portray TC, it's much more interesting to see someone who looks sensitive and intelligent, but with a side we have yet to really see....

squoosh · 05/02/2015 15:54

I'm sure you could be sent to the Tower for saying that.

flippinada · 05/02/2015 16:14

I don't think MR as TC is soppy at all, - although I suspect they have sexed him up a bit.

He's nicely developing an air of quiet menace. A bit like a Tudor Mafioso.

squoosh · 05/02/2015 16:15

I love when he told Lord whatsit who was in Monarch of the Glen 'you made a mistake threatening me'.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 05/02/2015 16:16

It would need to be a bruiser who could really act. Ray Winstone doesn't really have the subtlety...

squoosh · 05/02/2015 16:18

I love a bit of Ray Winstone, no one plays Ray Winstone better. Same as no one plays Sean Bean better than old Sean himself.

Baddz · 05/02/2015 16:20

TCs punishment of those who mocked Wolsey is pretty

flippinada · 05/02/2015 16:21

Yes, very good. And the deceptively mild tone in which it was delivered, too.

I liked Francis Bryan too. Aka the vicar of hell (or from hell, I'm not sure which). Him with the eye patch.

Baddz · 05/02/2015 16:47

Sorry!
Pretty horrendous.
I wouldn't have wanted to cross TC!
In think MC has him to a T tbh
Iron fist in the velvet glove
