Notebooks at the ready Grin We should have enough information at the end of the first episode to start cooking up some slightly implausible theories.

Thank you Gently! I have already consulted Prof Google and had my 'doh!' moment Grin

fancyanotherfez · 06/01/2015 15:12

I was going through Rory withdrawal symptoms last series, so didn't care what his actual name was, just glad he was back from 1930 but have now gotten over it! Oh well, he'll always be Rory to us....

EauRouge · 06/01/2015 15:25

Reverend Rory, the vicar who waited.

Ellie's baby, Fred (?) was in series 1. I have a feeling that Danny's body was found on her first day back at work after maternity leave, which was, I think, why she was particularly annoyed at being passed over for promotion whilst on leave. Clearly this still rankles as she was not pleased to find that Hardy only took the (her) job because it meant he could keep an eye on Claire.

SlightlyJadedJack · 06/01/2015 15:52

Wasn't the vicar called Paul Coats?

I watched the first series over two days just this week so it's all fresh in my mind. Wink

SlightlyJadedJack · 06/01/2015 15:53

I am glad that someone called him Rory though as it was doing my head in trying to remember what he had been in!

McButtonwillow · 06/01/2015 16:03

Late to the thread but yay for the return of MNPD Smile

fancyanotherfez · 06/01/2015 16:05

I genuinely had no idea that was his name! Not even an 'Oh yeah, that was it!' moment, and he was in it quite a lot in series 1!

ScrambledSmegs · 06/01/2015 16:13

Reverand Rory...mmm...

I'd defrock him in an instant. Hur hur.

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 06/01/2015 16:35

I watched Series 1 over Christmas and had no idea Rory's name was Paul. Grin

Showy · 06/01/2015 16:44

I wouldn't say no to a firkle under his cassock. Aherm.

DH refused to watch most of series one of Broadchurch because of the policing inaccuracies. He fair ruined the finale moaning about the ability of one police officer to trace a murderer to a single bloody room on a mobile phone. There was all sorts of other moans about procedure and bias and er, PACE and...

He managed ten minutes of last night's episode before going to bang some nails with his hammer whilst muttering about the CPS and artistic licence.

ScrambledSmegs · 06/01/2015 17:01

Showy! E4, 10pm tonight, new season (9?) of Supernatural!

Hubba fricking hubba.

MNPD assemble! It's Broadchurch time
ScrambledSmegs · 06/01/2015 17:06

Ahem. Sorry.

Getting back to Broadchurch - I do love Olivia Colman so almost worth watching just for her. I think the fact that Marianne Jean-Baptiste (one of my favourite actors) is one of the QCs could be fantastic, despite the plotting being hilaire.

And although the grasp of police procedure and legal process is quite frankly, laughable, I'm really warming to the fact that Charlotte Rampling's character is being brought out of retirement just for this case. Like a legal Rambo.

fancyanotherfez · 06/01/2015 17:11

I did a Law degree and mumbled something about PACE during the first series before sending myself to sleep!

Rev. Rory surprisingly attractive in a dog collar, I must agree!

Showy · 06/01/2015 17:16

Hubba fricking hubba indeed. DH is away, I have a cupboard of Christmas stuff and an appointment with Castiel et al to keep. There's a thread on here somewhere. I'll see you there.

Anyway, carry on my wayward son Broadchurchers.

BOFster · 06/01/2015 17:18

Why are we calling him Rory?

BOFster · 06/01/2015 17:20

Ooh, here's another good refresher course.

fancyanotherfez · 06/01/2015 17:21

Because the actor played one of the companions in Doctor Who, called Rory, and no one seemed to know what his characters name was in Broadchurch!

ScrambledSmegs · 06/01/2015 17:24

He was and forever will be, poor sod Rory in Dr Who.

ScrambledSmegs · 06/01/2015 17:26

See you there! Although I'm crap at watching and typing, my inane witterings on the Returned threads are a good illustration of this.

BOFster · 06/01/2015 17:56

Oh, The Returned was brilliant- I hope that comes back soon.

Showy · 06/01/2015 18:14

Ooh I haven't heard of The Returned. I'm currently mainlining Sons Of Anarchy illegally online. It's violent and gratuitous and misogynistic and I should hate it. In fact, the official party line is that I hate it. Except I love it.

Rory is the wonderful Plastic Centurion. Ruined a bit by the Shouty Ginger but he was fabulous.

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/01/2015 18:24

Returned was fab. Have all 8 on planner to refresh self - think it returns ha ha in feb

Showy · 06/01/2015 18:34

What is it about?

Showy · 06/01/2015 18:35

Actually, just googled. It's based on Les Revenants. I'm sold.
