Corrie thread - New thread for the New Year, time for another disaster?

New thread in time for the new year - hopefully this year will see the back of some awful characters.

I would personally like to see the following rounded up and shoved in a deep hole in the Red Rec:

Izzy
Anna
Owen
Gary
Michelle
Tracey-Luv
Gavin
Faye
Yasmeen and her entire extended family
The Community Centre
Kylie
Todd
Steph

That'll do for starters.

Owen's ex also played Will Preston's wife in Peak Practice years ago. She has a very distinctive face.

Weatherfield Comp obviously doesn't send texts when pupils aren't at registration. Who on earth is supposed to be looking after Katy's and Izzie's children?

Did I fall asleep and miss some vital connection last week, or is this trip of Dev's awfully sudden? What's the story behind that - I mean, what single parent takes it upon him/herself to waltz off to India on a whim?

The Faye storyline is so badly done.
Last week, Audrey saw her 'at the precinct', this week, Katy (for the first time ever?) brings her child for a walk, possibly at the magical Red Rec (who knows? Grin), and hey presto, there's Faye again.

Agree re Dev, I didn't even catch what the purpose of his trip is, it would hardly make sense, leaving his kids, and just as the romance is taking off with Julie. Another clunky, badly done storyline.

C'mon Corrie, you can do better than this. I'm not even going to start on hen storylines, possibly the most pathetic yet.

I thought the episodes last night were just bloody bizarre, and not in a good or quirky way. I agree with others about the poor plotting regarding Dev, the chickens, Faye, the phantom babysitters, Les Dennis, ad nauseam.

And the dialogue has got very tired as well.

I'll probably stop watching it until Faye' s baby is old enough to listen to tapes in its room.

I think that's what's annoying me most. They have quite a few single parents / separated parents on Corrie. However, unlike real life, these parents never ever seem to have a problem getting someone else to look after their children, whether it be at teatime or for six months or whatever. It's so unlike the lived experiences of the programme's audience it's risible.

No doubt Faye will soon be told by lots of people with full-time jobs how much they are going to look after the baby for her whilst she goes to school.

Good idea. I did take a breather, after watching for many years, when the Windasses seemed to be the central family, after they first arrived. Now that slot seems to be for Yasmeen and co, who are very boring.

The baby might be banished 'upstairs' with Joseph, permanently watching DVDs. Although Joseph did get an airing yesterday.
I'm not sure where the child lives, possibly with Katy and Steph.

Will Katy take him with her when she leaves, causing more grimacing by Chesney? Until he is forgotten about.

How much longer wil the Gavin/ Andy thing drag out?! I look at Michael, and actually couldn't care less whether or not he had the operation. Gail is being made into a total fool, falling for all these guys over the years, and now going on as if this is the reprise of Romeo and Juliet.

Yeah, I don't think the current writers 'get' the public affection for Gail and her ridiculous stubbornness and romantic optimism, and are making her into a silly caricature.

I noticed(between fast forwarding through most of it) that Faye suddenly has a huge tummy- as if that sprouted overnight and wouldn't have been noticed!!

I've stopped watching. I can't stand it. The script is tired. Boring characters. And as for the Faye story line !!!!!!!

There was casual talk about fitting a stair lift so that Izzy could get into the flat. The flat they had to move into because they were up to their necks in debt. Presumably it was provided by the well-known Free Lifts for the Disabled Co.

Think izzy can walk a bit but it's painful. As if they'd get a flat though.

What has the actress playing Sarah Lou (Tina something?) been doing for the past 10 years? And Andy? and a million others Do they have jobs?

AS IF Gail would marry again so quickly after her past. See where this is going... Les/Michael is going to ask 'Gavin' to be best manHmm

If Julie was leaving then why didn't they kill her in the minibus crash, much better than this awful India storyline.

I'm in the majority that I can't stand Maddie but in the minority that I don't mind Michelle awaits flamingSmile

There's a confusing story in ht DM today. It's about a funeral but it doesn't make much sense.
