The first suspect - in the sense of the first person hauled in and questioned by police - is Vincent (still alive in 2014). And it takes a good actor to persuade an audience to feel sympathy for a convicted collector of child abuse images.

The first person to talk about who might have done it was Emily's (so far surnameless) father, who said in his court experience it's nearly always someone known to the family. And then alludes to an earlier event (unexplained at the time, but then fitting with Greg, about whom we still know little).

AuntieStella · 03/12/2014 23:42

Oh, and of course, the another candidate for first suspect is Tony himself, as culprit is so often in the family. And he was questioned early on about the missing 9 minutes.

So what do we know about the help Greg gave in getting Emily's father a hospice space? She hadn't seen him recently, clearly, so was it just professional contact he had with her parents? Or something more?

Sorry whose Greg ? Should know I think apologies foggy flu brain.

Greg is a guy that Tony beat up a few years previously because he suspected that Emily was having an affair with him. Greg works at the hospice where Emily's dad is. We don't know much about him at all. I think all this stuff is in episode 2 or 3.

Greg is the guy Tony beat up because he had a fling with Emily.

If another child goes missing in 2009 should we assume that Vincent Bourg was involved and that is why he goes to prison? Or have I missed the reason he was in prison.
I am wondering whether there was some dna evidence (tiny traces of blood) at the house cellar but given the polices history of covering stuff up they said it was clean.
I do hope Baptiste isnt involved or I will be devastated. However I dont see why he would come out of retirement and annoy his family if he was involved...

Maybe Alex Duchamps really is Ollie? He features in 2 episodes - just a thought?

I think the other child going missing will be completely unrelated. Emily has already implied that the 2009 stuff came to nothing. I reckon it will turn out to be a standard custody related thing or a money making scheme.

I think the first suspect Nesbitt refers to is Vincent, and he does a great job. However if he does know who did it why did Malik say on the phone it was Garratt?

Report
woodlysmum · 04/12/2014 10:16

I think Malik says it was Ian who did it to get Tony riled and more likely to talk. He is trying his best to get a confession out of Tony...I am not sure how he could actually know that Tony killed Ian but he is hoping he will say something by dangling Ian in front of him.
I am wondering if Ian texted Bourg that he was going to his house as he thought Tony would rock up. And since Ian never returned Bourg suggested Tony 'made him disappear'...

They are convinced over on DS (i am obsessively now reading BOTH fora, and have spotted mners posting over there too Grin ) that alain is still alive. Here is a pic of 'man in bar in 2014' and the actor who plays him. Noone has specifically said he is dead...............

Shock That's totally him! Which bar? He could have just fallen off the wagon and split up with Sylvie.

I might be totally wrong, but I keep going back to Ian still being involved somehow. I know the beating Tony have him was pretty thorough, and he did appear to have his brain splattered across the boat, but a body has never been found, he's been declared dead after 7 years, but no body was ever found. There was also a line in the Indian Ocean dream sequence where either Ian or his wife, but I'm sure it was his wife said something along the lines of "you said we had to get away"

Probably a million miles away Grin but it's niggling at me!

OttiliaVonBCup · 04/12/2014 11:16

The body wasn't found because Tony weighted it down and sank it.
He can't have survived that and the head injuries.

Its in the beginning of e1, when tony is trying to convince baptiste to reopen the case and first shows him the pic of the yellow scarf. I think. I need to rewatch it Grin

Also, the idea that the missing evidence is a sobriety medal... That might explain why malik didnt give it back 24hrs later like he said - he wanted to investigate who it belonged to. Does anyone know if they have a number on? (Say it says seven on it for seven years?) as that would help make it relate to less than every recovering alcoholic in the area!

Last thing... Re "i know what you did". I wonder if malik thinks the parents did hurt ollie themselves, even though the audience are quite sure they didnt? Another mirror back at the particular high profile case a few people thought this reminded them of?? (And something to throw us all off the scent as we then wonder what it is?)

Can someone please link the Stars trailer? I can't find it at all and have searched loads.

It has to be someone we have seen, I think Vincent knows something, he has to. He seems to feel very guilty and is that really from only looking and sharing pictures or the fact he and something to do with Ollie or knows what happened? He seems to be more at peace and more willing to talk now he knows Ian is dead. Why did Ian pay someone to give him an alibi? Just so they wouldn't look into him and link them? Ian must know he has influential people in the palm of his hand.

From the clip of next week though, it seemed to me as if Malik was accusing Tony of doing it and trying to get him to confess?! Or was he talking about Ian Garret?

Report
OttiliaVonBCup · 04/12/2014 11:20

I think the evidence Ziane gave Malik was a bit more self explanatory than a sobriety medal.
It was understood Malik would know what it was and how it relates to the case.

Who are the Duchamps? And Anouar Charmataines?

I thought I was relatively on the ball until I came onto this thread. I definitely don't trust Mark but I can't put my finger on why.

I wonder if Vincent was supposed to keep the boy but either killed him (accidentally) or allowed him to get away? His relationship with Ian seemed very strained, as if he had lettheir arrangement go wrong.
