In the Starz trailer he is wearing the scarf as he tries to get out of a window and then later on isnt when running through the woods so looks like it shows him escaping.

However it could all be just in Tonys mind or something

Did sylvie ever say that alain was dead?? I must have missed it if she did. Also the way she was talkinh to tony about the sobriety medals...I dunno, just made it sound like he was still alive but fallen off the wagon rather than dead. I think he is alive and knows something, too much which is eating him up with guilt amd therefore drinking again and no longer with sylvie. His brother is the mayor and therefore I think has a hold over alain.

I think the town itself is key... its reputation and economy going downhill and desperate attempts to hush up what's happening there...

Florence and Faye, going back to that comment about thinking Mark and Emily are one thing but finding out it's something else entirely - have just watched a bit of ep 1 again and yes they are seen kissing, after he brings home different cakes for her to sample and she chooses the cheaper one. She then jokingly accuses him of being a cheapskate and he replies "as if £15k isn't enough to spend on a wedding", the exact amount she handed over to Karl Sieg, so effectively the whole wedding budget?
However I noticed interspersed in the scenes of Ollie running in the woods/trying to get out of the window, there is a glimpse of what appears to be Emily on her wedding day to Mark (back of her head), looking across the room (looks like a marquee) at Ollie, wearing the yellow scarf (presumably another hallucination), so it does look like they did actually get married. So where did the cash come from if Mark said they didn't have £15k to give away?

Just watched episode 1 again.
When Tony and Ollie are in the pool someone with grey hair walks by and looks across at them swimming.
Also in the garage the grey haired car mechanic makes a fuss of Ollie.
Mention this because doesn't Nesbit say to watch out for grey haired man episode 1

Nooo, not the grey haired men again. There are millions of them!

Baptiste and garrett also have grey hair Grin

EauLittleRougeofBethlehem · 04/12/2014 14:04

OK, so grey-haired men:

Karl Sieg- could be lying about how much he was involved.
Ian Garrett- same.
Bloke from garage- probably not featured enough to have done it.
That copper that everyone thought was Karl Sieg but wasn't- same.
Mark in a wig
Baptiste- the writers will face the wrath of the Mumsnet Detective Agency if it was him.
Georges- he is definitely dodgy but probably more concerned with his career.

Anyone else?

FlorenceMattell · 04/12/2014 14:09

Blu yes I noticed that too budget 15k and payment to Sieg 15 euros
Are they the same? not sure of exchange rate. But was a waste of money as Sieg didn't give any useful info. Well not intentionally.
Am intrigued by how next episode will show truth re Emily and Marks relationship. Iv been watching episode 1 again looking for clues.
Agree lots of grey haired men , man by pool could have been Sieg.

Has anyone seen the US interview with James, Frances and Tcheky that was on just after the pilot?
In that the interview talks about Tcheky playing a goodie for once. Later on they are talking about 'who did it' and James jokes that Tcheky had a glint his eye when they mentioned him playing a goodie...I think the fact that James said that probably means that Baptiste isn't dodgy (Well I am hoping so. LOVE him). As if he was he probably wouldn't have mentioned it?!
Maybe the writers want to sow the seeds of doubt in our mind about everyone including Baptiste- hence his strange reactions to things in recent episodes- but he doesn't have anything to do with the disappearance.
Although I was thinking wouldn't an experienced and legendary detective have managed to get more info out of Karl Sieg and questioned him more thoroughly?!

According to google, €15000 is today worth £11816.82 Grin

Maybe he knew Karl Sieg knew nothing- he didn't seem that keen on Tony and Emily giving him money.

Ah ah ah ah! I just had a thought reading the non spoiler thread!!!

Tony is a big drinker now. Perhaps he was before, perhaps that is where the assault on greg came from?

Perhaps it was a sobriety chip, but it didnt belong to who we are being encouraged to think it did......

Report
EauLittleRougeofBethlehem · 04/12/2014 14:32

I don't think it could be a sobriety chip. Presumably those things are mass produced and whatever it is in the envelope was enough to show who did it without any other research. So I'm thinking a photo or something like that. Something unique.

ArsenicSoup · 04/12/2014 14:42

The sobriety chip Alain's wife shows to Tony was quite dark. Would it be easily visible in the drain?

Ziane gave to Malik for 24 hrs so it had to be something he would need time to go over and research, if it was a picture or a note he could have looked at it there and then. I think it might have been a memory stick with a movie on it.

FlorenceMattell · 04/12/2014 15:10

Woodsymum yes just watched the American interview too. And you are right I don't think Baptiste can be dodgy.
Also the grey haired man at the pool was just an extra. Frances who plays Emily actually mentioned that some viewers had been so drawn into story that they were speculating on killer.

Report
ArsenicSoup · 04/12/2014 15:15

Fallon if it is a memory stick it would have to be a distinctive/personalised one that was instantly recognisable to Ziane/Malik, I think. When Malik looked into the envelope you could see he immediately recognised/saw the significance of it.

I'm really half-convinced that it is something that belonged to Vincent. But what?

Maybe evidence was ID? Mark's ID?

Report
RedButtonhole · 04/12/2014 16:22

Not plot related but I've just been on IMDB and the boy who plays Oliver Hughes is called Oliver Hunt in real life, I don't know why but I find that a bit creepy!

Georges is somehow involved for sure. He might not have done the actual abduction but he had to be involved.
He could have tipped off the Romanians before the country warehouse stakeout because he had to give approval to Baptiste.
He placed an embargo on Ian's house after he went missing for multiple possible reasons.
He resisted opening the case again in 2014.
He is questioning keeping the case open as Tony and Baptiste make progress albeit slow.

I think Ziane might have found Georges ID in the drain . I think Georges knows about Zianes Moroccan past and allowed him on the police force but has him on a short leash and would turn him in if he were to rat on Georges. Ziane gives the ID to the reporter in hopes he will expose Georges and it wouldn't look like it came from him. If he got it back in 24 hrs the news would already have been out.

It can't be the medal though if Malik immediately knew the significance of it, how would they know it belonged to Alain?
