Well done whoever up thread predicted the fox luring Olleh away. I don't believe that was Ollehski at the end though, he would have recognised his dad's eyebrows. Sad

Im devastated with the ending. I've invested 8 weeks of my life to this series and really we are none the wiser. I thought the boy at the end could be Ollie but hubby says Tonys lost the plot and it wasn't Ollie. The writers promised closure, that was not closure!!!!! Arggghhhhh

The BBC page on The Missing includes an image of the Hapern statement. Most of what he is saying is hidden, but the date at the top is 2004 (though handwriting is a bit unclear)

Just before the one show tonight the voice over said the truth is discovered for Tony and Emily.

Oh for the love of god I hope so!

New to the site and this forum but have been putting a few things together myself after reading all this fabulous thread.

In the evidence trail concerning Greg's statement to police, it appears not to be about the attack by Tony but much earlier in his life, and both Tony and Emily appear to have been present at the incident. Even more strangely Emily is " Emily Hughes" in the details. Given that it appears they were teenagers in this statement it's unlikely she was married to Tony at that time. Does this suggest they are actually brother and sister? Or related in some way?

It also shows they have known Greg for a long time, at least since they were teens, could he then have been paid to father a child for them? is that what the pay off was about? Is that why Tony attacked him?

Is it also why Tony's parents never appear after Ollies disappearance? Because Emily's parents are his parents too?

Is Ollie actually not Tony's son, but has been paid for, and for some reason Greg decides to take his revenge and take Ollie?

When Emily's father needs a place in a hospice Greg finds it for him, so the father is indebted to him for this. When the father mistakes James for Ollie at his bedside is this infact because Ollie is at the hospice with Greg and the father has kept his silence because he now owes Greg?

All theories, and probably way off, but you never know...

Just had a look on William Hill, the leading culprits are Alain followed by Mark according to the bookies. I will be annoyed if it is Alain as I thought the sobriety medal was the cheesiest most convoluted piece of writing in an otherwise excellent show.

AuntieStella, it could well be Costa too, I think he might have been wearing a zip up hoodie in the cafe.

Re man in mask, EauLittleRouge posted a screenshot on thread 2:

EauLittleRougeofBethlehem Wed 03-Dec-14 08:38:03, followed by another one of who she thought it looked like, the throat slasher.

Very convincing, I'd say. So I'm now ruling Tony out!

From what you could see of the face in the balaclava, I thought basement man was most likely to be either Leon or Costel Costa (Romanian throat slashing gang member, who is listed in IMDb as being in ep8).

magz I rewatched episode 1 last week and Ziane was wearing a pair of converse type shoes (navy with a white trim around the sole) on the night Ollie went missing so it could be him or Tony, though the zip up top/ hoodie looked more like the type Ziane wears.

Look at tonight's trailer, at 0.3/0.4 seconds. Tony says 'Look at the boy in the background' , points to boy wearing scarf.

But if you look in the background of the bar, you see Alain!

Coincidence or cryptic clue?

Note to self: Get.A.Life

I just turned on the telly to watch the news, and caught the end of the trailer for tonight.

They are hunting suspects (I think Laurence is holding a handgun in the woods) then there's a shot of someone being dragged in an urban setting. So if they are Ollie suspects (not the rounding up of the Caid), they are people who are still alive. It doesn't rule out Alain being involved, but if he's dead (not clear if he is or not, wasn't he seen in the bar in 2014 when Julien met Tony) then he wasn't acting alone.

AuntieStella · 16/12/2014 12:36

As this is the spoiler friendly thread, yes it was Tony I saw in the same shoes.

And he did go out alone in the small hours of the night Ollie disappeared, but I don't know how long he was unaccounted for. But him being in the basement does not fit any of my pet theories.

MagzFarquarson · 16/12/2014 12:19

Yes, agreed - don't really think it's Tony, just trying to make a scenario for each person. Only one I can't see doing it is Emily.

Alain is a bit too obvious - although he was at that bar, all dishevelled, in present day ep01. But how come Juuuuulien didn't spot him, when MNPD did? ! (I didn't btw, only after a sharp-eyed mnetter, sorry can't remember who, pointed it out).

Oh don't! I keep going over the Tony theory.... But it can't be can it? I can quite easily see how he could arrange for a kidnap situation/ child custody etc... But not the harrowing search for 8 years letting it ruin your life etc.
unless the arrangement went wrong?

I've put my money on Georges now and already I'm wavering.

AuntieStella from the main thread - I did find a person wearing the same shoes as man on basement stairs (won't say who) but cannot fit that person to any of my pet theories. It is possible it's just a common shoe (black espadrille type with thin white sole).

Tony was wearing shoes like that when he broke into VB's apartment. Could the blood on the token be his from when he cut his hand? What did he do with the cloth from VB's apartment he used to wrap round the cut?

The token was found during the 're-canvas' by Ziane - might not have been dropped on the same night Olleh went missing.

Looks like a door in the hotel. Not a hotel room. It's like the door is significant. Maybe Ollie was kept there all along? Which would implicate Alain & Sylvie.

Report
youarekiddingme · 16/12/2014 06:50

Do you think all the shots in that trailer are all the things we've seen that are relevant to Ollie missing? We've had so much information only snippets of it can actually be truly relevant.

Report
FayeFruitLoop · 16/12/2014 01:31

It does look like Laurence is handcuffed but the police behind her also have their hands in same position so I think they're just holding guns
