Original thread here, disappearing scarves, grey-haired doppelgängers and twin theories abound. Has anyone done a spreadsheet yet?

FallonColby (nice name), yes, I can see the resemblance. I would be happy to welcome them both into my home Smile

SolomanDaisy · 02/12/2014 18:14

Hoping this isn't too spoilery, but it isn't just the actor who has been half-named so far on this thread. If you click on the actor names, there is another with the same thing.

FallonColby · 02/12/2014 18:14

I'd definitely prefer James Nesbitt, who seems to be improving with age rather than George, who isn't quite as dishy as he used to be (prepares to be flamed I know!)

SomethingFunny · 02/12/2014 18:26

My theory:

I think that the hoteliers are involved. Either on their own or with others. They are the only ones who knew that Tony and Ollie we're going swimming and had access to the yellow scarf afterwards. Silvie was also the one who tempted Tony back this time (I like the theory that she wants the truth out now Alain is dead, she maybe planted the evidence trail- scarf, drawing in basement, video).

If Alain and the Mayor are brothers, the mayor talks about a niece he rarely sees now, which would be Alain's daughter. Maybe she was childless and Ollie was taken for her. She might not be Silvie's daughter, hence why she wants the truth out. Maybe she is Monique, who wanted to see Ollie's father so sought him out.

Maybe Alain was part of the peadophile ring (mayor, Ian, Vincent, Romanian cleaning man) and used these contacts to help him after he had taken Ollie (or Silvie had (could she have taken the fox from their room and used that? Emily had problems finding it again, so miht have been moved?)). Maybe Alain kept them quite about Ollie's whereabouts under the threat of exposure.

The lady in the cafe with the boy in episode one wasn't Monique was it??

----

Random other thoughts- Tony and Ollie were both carrying a bag when they went into the bar. Ollie's bag had been dropped outside the bar and was picked up by Tony and droppe again in the toilets. But Tony wasn't carrying his bag anymore then or afterwards? What happened to his bag??!

I think the broken tv might be significant as someone else said.

They couldn't call it The Disapeared as that was the name of the French drama about the children who drowned and then came back.

I don't want spoilers!

I want the programme to come to a satisfying and final conclusion. No more series.

ArsenicSoup · 02/12/2014 18:36

Yes soloman, I saw that.

Ohmygrood · 02/12/2014 18:39

Just rewatching episode 1 and mark has Emily's phone in their first scene. He says that he found it in one of the boxes, yet he's just arrived back to the house with cake. Surely if it was in one of the boxes she would have just rang the number and heard it. It was charged as she looks at it right away.

Ohmygrood · 02/12/2014 18:58

Also when ollie was abducted most of the crowd were wearing wigs. Flags wrapped round shoulders, make up etc so practically in disguise. it was the ideal setting for an abduction- noisy and chaotic. Perhaps ollie was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Chefpepperjack · 02/12/2014 18:58

I want to watch it all over again

AuntieStella · 02/12/2014 18:59

I thought the bag Ollie was carrying was black/white and the one Tony dropped in the changing rooms was plain black. He's left his bag outside the bar, but not in the place where he picked up bag/snorkel. Was Ollie holding the snorkel in the bar, or was it left outside with Tony's bag?

Trunchbull · 02/12/2014 19:14

Has anyone else seen the trailer for the series when it's shown in the US on Starz? It's really long and has bits I'm sure haven't yet been shown here. It's on Youtube.

mewkins · 02/12/2014 19:17

I reckon the second series will be a different child being abducted. Possibly with Tony and Baptiste solving it together.

Have heard that all actors and writers in interview insist that this series will have a satisfying ending. Also the writers have only just been commissioned for a second series so this one should be complete in itself iyswim.

mewkins · 02/12/2014 19:18

I wonder if the hoteliers are being blackmailed somehow.... to keep quiet about the comings and goings of missing children...

ArsenicSoup · 02/12/2014 19:20

The would say that wouldn't they?

I still haven't recovered from BBCOne dropping Ripper Street. I don't trust their judgement.

mewkins · 02/12/2014 19:26

I will stop paying my licence fee if we don't find out what the heck happened to Ollie.

AuntieStella · 02/12/2014 19:26

I think I'd like future series were based on the Baptiste case books. Laurence described him just before his arrival in Challons as a legend, so there would be plenty of scope for (several) complex investigations.

ArsenicSoup · 02/12/2014 19:30

Yes! Stella

Baptiste

AuntieStella · 02/12/2014 19:31

Yes!

(I prefer the 2014 version too).

OttiliaVonBCup · 02/12/2014 19:32

Oh oui!

AuntieStella · 02/12/2014 19:32

(88 minutes to go...)

EauLittleRougeofBethlehem · 02/12/2014 19:35

OK, no spoilers. Let's talk about Baptiste some more. Definitely 2014 Baptiste for me. I'm developing a massive crush and you lot are not helping Grin

ArrivedAtPanicStation · 02/12/2014 19:43

Love the theories on here.
So excited for tonight. I've paid DD £2 to go to bed early so we can watch it Grin

AuntieStella · 02/12/2014 19:49

Slightly random point: I wonder if Ian called his child Molly for this reason
